Kristine- I hope Jenna stays put a few more weeks.

Terry- I hope things are OK.

Jennifer- Good luck with the painting project.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my surgery. I have to be there at 10am and surgery is supposed to be at noon.

I have a pile of books, DVDs and magazines for recovery. My sheets and some laundry are currently in the dryer so they will be clean. I am ready to have this surgery so I can get back to trip planning. :yay::woohoo:

Hi, everyone! It's been quite a while since I posted. I was in a bit of a funk for a while, and then last Wednesday, I packed up myself and the kids and drove to my dad's house. My brother and his family were visiting from Oswego, NY, and we had a great visit! We got home last night.

While we were gone, the class lists were posted, so today we have been rushing around, meeting teacher's getting supplies, etc. School starts on Wednesday, and my kids are so excited! They all watched a presentation on the Reflections program that got them all excited, and they have been brainstorming ideas ever since we got home from the school. We got to meet the new principal, and she seems really nice. Very young! She's only 30 years old. We'll see how she does! We were spoiled with our old principal.

Katie's back to school night is tomorrow, and she's nervous! Her English/History teacher already mailed out their first assignment, so she's been busy today doing that. I think she'll really like her classes this year, but she is not with any of her "friends", so I told her she's going to have to put herself out to meet some new people this year.

Becky - I'm on pins and needles until I hear how things go with surgery tomorrow!

Bernadette - take care of that foot!!! I'm so glad that all the medical issues were really non-issues. As for the HPV vaccine, I had that given to Katie when she started jr. high. She had that and the meningitis vaccine at the same time. The only reason I decided that the HPV would be a good idea, is that it guards against one form of cancer that a lot of my aunts have had.

Elin - Enjoy your "vacation" time before lessons start up again! You manage to keep yourself quite busy though.

Elizabeth - How was the first day of high school?

Kristine - I'm so glad that you are still cooking! At this point, every day in the womb is doubly important! I can't wait to meet Jenna, but I will be patient!

Beth - Good luck with the preschool situation. I hope it works out the way you want it to.

Jen - Can't wait to see pics of your classroom. You should also post pics of the house hunt, so we can all "help" you!

Jennifer - Good luck with the painting. I think it sounds beautiful! Count me in as one that likes white ceilings! Makes my small house look larger!

Deb - How goes the job hunt? I'm glad that your stomach bug left quickly!

Gotta run make dinner. Alan is coming home from work early, so if I get dinner on the table early enough, we might be able to take the kids to the duck pond for some feeding!

Glynis - What a nice post from you! I hope your funk is gone. And I hope the kids have a great year! The Reflections program is wonderful. I encourage your kids to all get involved!

Kristine - Keep on cookin', Mama!!

Becky - Again, good luck tomorrow.

well the prep work is done. Jeff went to the store to get the paint and realized he forgot a bag at the store. So after he grilled some fajita's he is getting ready to head back to the store to get the bag he left. The girls are so anxious for him to get started.

Everything has calmed down so I guess they caught the person. Nothing on the news at all.

Becky - Best Wishes Tomorrow

Kristine - I hope all is well, I saw your FB post that you were in the hospital

That sounds like Alyssa's room. Her walls are light purple and the trim/baseboards/doors are a very pale pink. Ceiling is white though. I just can't bring myself to paint ceilings.

I like white ceilings. I've considered painting them the same as the walls but I always decide to keep them white.

Tammi...that's funny, I feel the same way. I think my father ingrained in me that a ceiling must always be white. The kids and I were watching a home improvement show yesterday and in several of the rooms they painted the ceilings. Kids thought it was great since they never saw a colored ceiling. I was apalled as one room was dark brown. The whole thing! Looked like a cave.

I'm right there with you Kristine! :lmao:

Heck, I vacilate between happy and cranky myself so I think you're doing great! Yeah for 32 weeks!!! Miss Jenna must be very happy with the way you're hanging in there so well. :grouphug:

I vacilate between happy and cranky myself and I'm not pregnant! :lmao: Best of luck to all of you that are pregnant and may you stay that way until those babies are nice & big.

A coworker told me that he heard I was the one to talk to about Disney. He is leaving on Wednesday for a week at Disney. OMG. He has a 6, 5 & 2 year old. They are staying at All Stars. They have 2 Quick Service meals and 2 snacks daily. I need to know anything you guys know about a AAA Special Parade Viewing and Disney Story Time. I have one night to get information together for him. :lmao: :upsidedow :sad2: :scared1:

Scary. We went through that a few months ago. Never saw a word about it on the news, but we did get the info from sources around the neighborhood. We were never in danger. Hopefully the same goes for you.

Speaking of moods, I am finding myself slipping into a funk. I really want to dig out, but I can't seem to manage. Between gaining weight, no luck with the job hunt, the kids going back to school...you get the picture. I'm trying to stay busy and keep telling myself that I still have the same jobs that I had last year so I shouldn't worry about it. Easier said than done.

One meeting down, 4 to go on the week. Since I figure I can't be so lucky again tomorrow and have two sleepers in the morning that allow me to sneak in a nap, I think I'm going to head to bed a little early. Now to just actually sleep through the night!

!
Sorry to hear about being in a funk:hug:
Ill have to take pictures later this week--things are STARTING to get going but i have a bunch more work to do.

Hang in there Deb--thigns will all work out!

Sorry about the funk, Deb. I think the thing that got me through was that I gave myself permission to be in a funk... for just a few days. I gave myself a deadline, and then had to work to get out of the funk by that time. It helped that I had a trip to visit people that I love.

I feel "eh". Had on and off contractions the whole weekend. Grateful to be at 32 weeks but wishing to make it further. So I basically vacilate between happy and cranky on an hourly basis. The whole bed rest, multiple shots a day and the constant worry have taken it's toll. Don't get me wrong we are thrilled....it's just been so hard.
:wizard:Hope you're feeling well enough to get a few done that you wanted to.

The schedules and teacher assignments should be mailed this week. I haven't been able to buy Miles many school supplies yet. The supply lists are on the school district website, but the lists for the three different six grade teams are drastically different. Since we don't know what team he is going to be on, there isn't much I could buy. Once we know, all the sales will be done and everything will be completely picked over.
How big is his class? Lizzy has about 130 kids in her grade. There is just one 6th grade math, 1 science, 1 social studies, 1 English, 1 French teacher so no question about who she'd get. She was very happy today when she found out her best friend was in all but 2 classes.

Her supply list was insane!!! Thankfully I had a $9 Staples rewards check and 20% off coupon but still spent over $80.:scared1: She had to have four 1 1/2" binders-they get pricey over 1" so about $9 each. Plus 4 sets of pocket dividers-they only had one style of those at $4.52 each package. So those were almost $60 right there. After I bought all her stuff I looked up the 7th & 8th grade supply lists and only 1 class in both years requires a binder over 1". I wonder what would have happened if I bought her 1" instead. How will she fit 4 1 1/2" binders in her backpack?

Thanks for all the well wishes for my surgery. I have to be there at 10am and surgery is supposed to be at noon.

Thanks so much for your insights. I have to do some research. DH's aunt died of some "female" cancer. I'll have to see if I can find out what she had.

Everything has calmed down so I guess they caught the person. Nothing on the news at all.
Sounds scary!

I vacilate between happy and cranky myself and I'm not pregnant! :lmao:
Goodluck helping your coworker!

Deb - I hope you find your way out of the funk soon. I understand totally! It happens from time to time around here as well and sometimes it's tough to shake. :grouphug:

Finally on the 11pm news, there was a guy robbing a home less than a quarter mile from our home and was caught in the act by the home owner. That was when the helicopter and police were called in. They did not find the person. That is really upsetting cause we are careful to keep things locked even while we are home but now will have to be even more careful.

It is such a scary world. One of Chris' coworkers had his wallet stolen out of his car which was parked in his driveway about 1/2 mile from us. Apparently there have been a rash of car break ins around here. We also found out that a hotel about 1/2 mile away is housing a rapist that was released from jail. Did they tell us, no, they only notified a very few homeowners that are adjacent to the hotel. How hard would it be for him to walk a 1/2 mile? jeesh they could have warned a lot more people. Better yet they shouldn't move him into a residental neighborhood.
