DDA Chapter 26

Debbie - I am so sorry that your daughter has had such a go-round with her surgery! She can't seem to catch a break on this can she?!?

Good morning, DDA!

Glynis - So glad your dad is coming to stay with you!!!

Debbie - I'm so sorry your daughter is having such issues getting to her surgery. I think your advice was good. Hope the new doctor, and his office, are better.

I've finished up most of Christmas stuff around here. I've got some treats I want to make this week, but that's the fun part so it doesn't count. ;) Today we're having a Christmas party with my Brownie troop at my house, but I've only got 5-6 girls total so it shouldn't be too much. We're making baby food jar snow globes, caroling and having snacks so pretty easy peasy. Tonight is the church music program and tasting party (YUM!). After that, the rest of the week is smooth sailing. I only have kiddos 3 days and I'm down the craziest of them all week so it should be a good week. Gifts are bought, wrapped and under the tree. Decorations are up. Only one room left to clean and it's mostly Christmas prep anyway so here's hoping for a nice relaxing week!

Good for you. I hope you do find relaxation

Debbie I hope your daughter finds a good surgeon. That is such an important decision

The guest room is done, and wonder of wonders, my dad has agreed to come spend some time with us and some with my sister over the holidays! Thanks for the good thoughts! He needed that kind of prodding!

We are taking the kids to a small community south of us, Spanish Fork, where there is a GINORMOUS light display. I'll take some pictures of it, as it's really spectacular!

I can't believe that it's one week to Christmas! My boys are taken care of, but I've still got one or two things left to get the girls. I hope I can get it all done!
Yay for your Dad coming! Spanish Fork sounds great! Good luck finishing up the girls!

My MIL called yesterday to say she was sure she wouldn't be up for coming Christmas which means my SIL will not leave her alone to come either. I told her we were not planning anything too fancy and she was still welcome to come if she felt better in week but I know she's made up her mind and will not come.

Today is my last day off before Christmas so I had better make the most of it.

My daughter has cancelled her surgery that she was supposed to have Tuesday, the doctor's staff is the most incompetent I have ever seen, so I advised her to find another doctor, she sees the new one tomorrow.
Hope you got lots done!

Your poor DD! What a tough decision to make. Hope she finds a good surgeon quickly.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:
How were recitals? AND...are you packed yet????

How was the Brownie party?

I may have over done it a bit this weekend. My foot is sore but my back is very sore. My back has been sore from walking funny with the big boot. BUT...I'm pretty happy to have done what is done.

I made my friend Mary K a yoga mat bag-I don't have a yoga mat so I used a towel to take this photo:

I made another friend a tote bag with a draw string cover:

And made a tea wallet and have 3 more cut out and partially complete:

Very nice Bernadette!

/
Bernadette - I am sorry your MIL and SIL won't be coming for Christmas. The big question is... are you? ;) Your gifts are lovely. But don't overdo it... you have to let that foot heal!

Recitals went well. There were only 4 children missing from the 30 that should have participated. I think those are pretty good numbers for a Saturday morning the week before Christmas!

I have 4 recitals tonight and 4 tomorrow night. Then we will leave about 3:30 Wednesday morning. And no, I am not packed. The laundry is done and the clothes are laid out on my "packing table" beside the suitcases. But the packing isn't done. Might not get done until tomorrow morning since I have lessons and a hair appointment this morning and lessons and recitals this afternoon/evening. It will get done. Just not sure when!

Good morning, DDA! It's going to be a busy one!

Bernadette, I love all your sewing projects. They make me want to get my machine out, but I doubt mine would turn out as good as yours.

Elin, that does sound like a good turnout the Saturday before Christmas, especially since that wasn't the original date. We have Laura's orchestra concert tonight. I think the bands are also playing. It will be nice, but I really don't feel I have the time for it this week. Or, more importantly, I don't feel she has the time for it.

Debbie, I'm sorry that your daughter had to postpone surgery, but I'm glad that she is going to find someone that she is more comfortable with.

Bernadette, I'm sorry that your MIL and SIL won't be joining you for Christmas.

Elin, I'm excited for you! :yay: One of these days we're going at Christmas time.

How was the Brownie party?

We had a good time. Made snowglobes from baby food jars, exchanged gift with a story reading swap and carroled to a few houses nearby. Just enough, but not too much.

Good luck with the packing! You'll get it done, no worries. Then you can sit back and relax on the plane and enjoy your much deserved time away.

You are right... It will get done and I will relax!

By the way, a package made its way from your house to mine today. I love my ornament, Tia. And the other goodies are lots of fun. Thanks so much!!

That is easier said than done! I had a departmental holiday lunch today and then we take off for the rest of the day. I wanted to come home and get some more done but I was exhausted and ended up falling asleep. I got up after a few hours and cut out a bunch more tea wallets but didn't sew any. I'm glad to be off my feet right now.

I know you'll be all set and ready to go to Disney!

Thanks but you could absolutely do it!!! Did you make your cards? They were lovely!

Sounds perfect!

Joe was suppose to have a Boy Scout pack meeting tonight but they canceled it due to snow-we don't have much-an inch or 2. Boston has already canceled schools for tomorrow and the town next to us had a 2 hour delay. I think I could do without the snow!

Hello. I'm just going to quickly post as I need to get to bed for another long day tomorrow. Beth the cards you made are adorable. Where did you find the time?

We had agreed not to exchange gifts with Chris' mother this year. Lo and Behold she mailed us 4 cards, DO NOT OPEN TIL CHRISTMAS. Ugh Now what do we do?

I would stand by the agreement

Lizzy was just sick. Yuck! Hope it is short lived, she keeps it to herself and if the others get it they get it quickly or hold off til after Christmas.

Bernadatte - I hope Lizzy is over her tummy troubles and the rest of you stay healthy!

Deb - I agree with Theresa... I would open at least one of the cards now to see what is inside. No reason to ruin Christmas Day if it is not necessary! After you see what is inside you can decide whether or not you need to reciprocate in some way. Remember... just because you receive a gift does not mean you need to give one in exchange. If you all agreed to "no gifts" then I wouldn't worry about it unless there is a very good reason to do so. Just my two cents! :)

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

On tap for today: Four recitals, two batches of shortbreads to finish, packing to do, airline check in required. Butterflies in my tummy to corral. :teeth:
