DDA Chapter 25

Bernadette - :scared: I soooo feel your pain. Both of my kids had lice a year and a half ago. Alyssa worse than Nicholas, but that's because his hair was short and hers was long. I swear they got it at WDW, trying on those hats, or the Jedi Training thing where they put that robe/cape on their head. I don't remember any welts, but the lice are brown and if they are small it is very hard to see them. As they mature they get bigger, and they move FAST. If there are egg sacs, those are white, and they attach themselves to the shaft of the hair, about 1/2-1 inch from the scalp. The difference between the white sac and a white flake of scalp is that the sac will need to be scraped from the hair shaft with a fingernail. It won't move by simply picking or blowing it out. I tore the house apart, vacuumed EVERYTHING. Put ALL sofa and bed (got them new bed ones) pillows/stuffed animals in bags for weeks to kill anything that might have been brewing. Then every night for 3 weeks we went through a regimen of combing their hair, bit by bit, with a lice pick. It was HORRIBLE. Thank GOD I didn't get it. Lot's of prayers that Emma doesn't have it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

ETA - Have you noticed her scratching her head a lot? That is what drew my attention to Alyssa, and when I looked, I found it. She did have scratches on her scalp from itching so much.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! He has a school trip today so he is so excited they are having it on his birthday.

Bernadette,
Hope Emma does not have lice & that you can get the crown fixed for the trip. You are a brave soul going camping with all those girls. Lots of luck for a great weekend!

Deb,
Sounds like great plans. I thought you wrote "Victor Borga" tour in Roatan:lmao:...I was like huh??? I need to get reading glasses! :rotfl2:

Becky,
:wizard: with work.

Debbie,
How is PT going?

Elizabeth,
Have a great trip!

Just a note if anyone has the Shrek glasses from McDonald's to stop using them..they have been recalled due to low levels of cadmium.

Emma complained of an itchy head late on Wednesday night. I didn't see anything and looked pretty good. Then Thursday I gave her a bath and saw a rash on her shoulders. The nurse then called to say it was lice. Gene went and got her and did the treatment. I looked her over last night with a bright light with magnifying glass and only saw dry skin-of course that was after treatment. She does have some red spots on her head-could be from itching but they look a lot like what is on her shoulders. It does not look like what you describe or what I've seen online. She's got a 11:15 doctor's appointment to see what the welts are-she's still itchy today so she's not at school.

I've got a 10:30 appointment to fix my crown-did I mention it is a front tooth.:scared1: Now I won't have to worry about it this weekend.

Load of laundry #1 is in the dryer, #2 in the wash and I'll have a 3rd too. Lizzy is packed except what is in the laundry and most of my stuff is set out.

Just got to finish pulling all the camping/stove/ect....together. I'll think I'll make it!

Weather looks iffy but I know the girls will have a total blast!!!!

Bernadette and Emma have fun camping,

Thanks but it is Lizzy & I. I would MUCH rather go with 11 year olds instead of 7 year olds. Especially if we get thunder storms tonight.:scared1:

Doctor says the welts MAY have been bug bites-hard to say. She doesn't have a fever and they don't appear to be spreading so no need to worry. It is impossible to say wether she really had lice or not since she's been treated.

Dentist couldn't get the crown off.:headache: He probably just loosened it up more. He said I should be able to just stick it back on if it does fall off.

2 loads of laundry done with 3rd in the dryer. Just a few things from that and I'll be all packed.

I should go start packing the car!

I think we're pretty much packed for our camping trip. I'm torn as to whether I want to take my computer or not. Part of me wants to just relax, but another part says I would have time to plan our trip :lmao: I'll have my droid, but it is much more difficult to navigate the web with that.

For me planning a trip is relaxing so I'd say take it! Of course, if it's a temptation to do other work or stuff that's not relaxing, then I wouldn't.

Hello everyone

I had a eye doctor appointment today, and have progressed to trifocals.
Will have them in 7-10 days and then the ajustment begins.

I've been a busy little bee today.

First, I went to the bank, opened a money market account and upgraded my checking. It's always better to let you money MAKE money for you. Then it was off to the mall. After trying on what must have been 243 bathing suits,, I ended up with buying 2. And I actually like them. I returned several other things that I DIDN'T and then headed to pick up the kids. Nicholas ended up going to a friend's house for a pool party and sleepover. Alyssa had her last dance classes tonight. Dress rehearsal are this week, with her recitals Friday night and Saturady afternoon. After a quick stop for Domino's carry-out I came home and mowed the front yard. By this time it was after 7PM. It was hot, but not NEARLY as hot as it is in the daytime.

Hope all our campers do well this weekend!

Heidi - did you get trifocals or progressive lenses? I have had my progressives for 15 years and never had a problem adjusting.

Anne Marie - I met Dana's clone today! This man was in a group that performed at our convention. He was originally from LI and his last name is the same as yours! He, however, does not know Dana, so I am thinking they are really not related!

I thought you all might find this interesting. One of the "perks" of the conventions I attend is the amazing musical guests we get to enjoy. The convention committee outdid themselves this year, in my opinion. We had a group (that I mentioned in my post to Anne Marie) who sang sea shanteys and folk tunes. The gentleman in the video below is self taught. His degree is in English from William and Mary but his love is music. The instrument I filmed is the hammered dulcimer. He doesn't play it like any other artists I have ever seen and the sounds he got out of this instrument were gorgeous. He also played the bowed psalter, pennywhistles and bamboo flutes. He was amazing!

You might need to turn your volume up pretty high.

Hope everyone is having a good day . I just got home from the Phillies game which was fun..now im watchig the Flyers..a night of sports!

We're here and I only forgot a few things...like the vacuum and the matress for Hunter's bed  He could sleep in my parent's camper, but he didn't want to so we borrowed an egg crate from my Mom and he says he is comfy :confused3 Chris is sleeping. Who knew that he can't hold his vodka? He does fine with whiskey, tequila, but vodka knocks him on his ****:lmao: I had a mango margarita. I can't say that I'm fond of the taste of tequila, but it wasn't horrible.
