My oldest is now in New Mexico and by Saturday we will be in Maryland.

So much happened this weekend...Jim decided he could grab my butt in the middle of Walgreens...he should be happy I held back and didn't turn around and whack him with the All bottle in my hand.

Cassidy was bitten by one of the dogs here where we are staying...she has eleven stitches in her chin. She handled it like a pro...I cried more for that than getting her off yesterday. I have raised an amazing child.:lovestruc

oh no poor Cassidy, I hope she heals nicely, I hope the move for her is a good one. I hope you and Abi have a safe trip to Maryland.

Riley & a friend from 8th grade graduation(I have others, just have not down loaded them yet :rolleyes1)

Jennifer - Hope your dad gets to come home soon!

Janet - Cute pictures!

Deb - Way to go on the camper. Hope it's a slower week for you!

Theresa - Lots of :wizard: coming your way! I hope that Cassidy is healing up well. Good luck and safe travels to you and Abi on your move. Are you flying out or driving through?

Theresa - Much luck to you and the girls as you embark on the next chapter of your lives. You know it will be a better one! :goodvibes

Jennifer - I hope your nausea goes away soon. Nasty stuff, that morning sickness. Especially when it lasts into the rest of the day!

Theresa - lots of :hug:s and :wizard: for you all!!!!

Janet - wow, Riley looks so grown up from the last time that I saw him.

Elin - looks like you had a nice weekend.

It was soooo nice at the pool. We stayed for 5 hours, and there were lots of friends there for the kids to play with. The water was actually bearable, so I was happy too.

We are watching The Blind Side now.

I finally uploaded some pictures from CA!!! Before I get to them though...a small retrospective... ;)

Okay, I have to go deflate pool air pillows, but I'll be back with CA pics.

thanks all I hope it leaves soon. The bad part is when I get up around 4am to go to the bathroom and lay back down I get nauseated and it takes about an hour for it to go away and me to go back to sleep.

I love all the pictures. It seems like we all found a little happiness this weekend, some by going down memory lane.

Nick found out that his date for the grad dance will be wearing a cream colored dress with a black lace top. He has been adamant that he wanted a suit so I just ordered him a black Italian suit off Amazon. It said the original price was $1499 and that it was 90% off. The pictures looked nice so hopefully it will be nice quality too. I also ordered him a cream shirt to wear with it. His date want them to get black converse sneakers and splatter paint them with cream paint. I told Nick that he might want to consider splatter painting a black tie and pocket square to match...maybe even a hat :confused3

After turning over our Give a Day vouchers we headed to the front gates in plenty of time for opening. We headed straight for Peter Pan to beat the crowds. At the gate, Terra had gotten both a birthday button and a volunteer button.
DSC08592.jpg

Up next was a spin on the teacups.
DSC08615.jpg

The purple puffle had to take a spin as well.
DSC08619.jpg

After finishing out Fantasyland with the Carousel, Alice in Wonderland, Dumbo, Casey Jr and Storybook Canals, we headed to Pixie Hollow.
Up first was Silvermist
DSC08647.jpg

And then Terrance and Tink. Terrance was very talkative and quite funny.
DSC08652.jpg

Thanks to a longer than posted wait at the Hollow, we were late getting to DCA for Toy Story Mania. We ended up with a bit of a wait, but not too bad. Unfortunately, it also meant the need for a very fast walk to get to Goofy's Kitchen. It's quite a hike from the back of DCA all the way to the Disneyland Hotel so we were a little late, but Pluto was still waiting to see us!
DSC08659.jpg

We ate SOOOO well at this meal. We were there for brunch so we had fresh made omelets, parmesan mashed potatoes, a few yummy chicken dishes and a full dessert bar. The best was the bananas foster crepes on the dessert bar. They were SO delicious. Had I seen them earlier I may have skipped a round of real food for a few extra desserts. :) Breakfast was also characters galore. They all signed a birthday card the restaurant provided as well.

DSC08668.jpg

Goofy brought over a birthday cupcake and candle during the birthday song!
DSC08671.jpg

Baloo and Pluto came by at the same time and played around at our table for awhile.
DSC08672.jpg

DSC08675.jpg

DSC08676.jpg

Dale came by as we were finishing up a last cup of coffee/milk and then we went back to the Magic Kingdom.
DSC08683.jpg

As soon as we hit Main Street we saw Minnie
DSC08687.jpg

And had a dance with Donald. (Someday I'll remember at the right time that I have a video option my camera. It would have been perfect for this!)
DSC08691.jpg

A quick stop in the store for a hat for me and a giraffe toy for Terra resulted in a birthday call from Goofy.
DSC08694.jpg

We hit Astro Orbiter...
DSC08697.jpg

...as well as Star Tours (yes, I ignored the pregnancy warning :rolleyes1 ) and Buzz Lightyear before heading to the parade. While we were waiting, Terra laid down in my lap. She SWEARS that she didn't fall asleep, but, um, well, she did. She was out cold, in fact. :thumbsup2
DSC08703.jpg

The parade was a lot of fun! Great music, LOTS of characters and a lot of excitement.
DSC08707.jpg

Terra recorded the whole thing.
DSC08709.jpg

Pinnochio really wanted to be in her movie.
DSC08715.jpg

My favorite part was that at the end of the "party stop" (kind of like the way Block Party Bash stops in Party Zones), these bikes carried all of the characters in the parade around the whole Party Zone area. This way you got to see all of the characters up close even if they were based on another float.
DSC08741.jpg

Terra's favorite part was being in the parade!
DSC08725.jpg

DSC08732.jpg

After the parade, we headed to Small World. The new boats were so much roomier! I really like the additions to the ride as well. The Disney characters fit in smoothly and are fun to look for. It took us several rides to find them all.
DSC08763.jpg

DSC08786.jpg

DSC08791.jpg

Then we made a trip to Toontown and enjoyed all of the fun little "extras" there. We visited Mickey's house, but decided not to wait in the really long "meet him" line.
DSC08819.jpg

After this, we left to meet Phil, his parents and brother for dinner. I'm still torn on whether this was a good plan. The drive gave Terra a chance to feel tired and become a little worn out. Then, dinner (as I should have known it would) took awhile. We accidentally parked in a lot with no tram, but it was too late by the time I figured that out. We had to hurry to make it back for the fireworks. We did make it, but I was afraid that Terra would sleep through them. She woke up in time for the fireworks and we really enjoyed them as always.
DSC08828.jpg

Terra had gotten her second wind by now, so we hit a few more rides before the park closed heading to The Enchanted Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise.
DSC08838.jpg

We headed for a last minute-trip on the Nemo submarines before leaving. We planned to take the monorail out since it lets off in DTD halfway to where we had parked, but as we were unloading the stroller I realized that her Purple Puffle was missing. We had him at the start of fireworks, but didn't know for sure after that. We backtracked and stopped by lost and found, to no avail. The day got a little ugly at this point as I now had a tired, devastated (made worse by the tired part) birthday girl with a long walk back to the car (dang, but I should have moved when I figured out the tram issue). On the way across Downtown Disney we had to stop intermittently as Terra burst into tears. It was midnight and there's just no consoling a little girl with a lost toy at midnight after a full day at Disneyland. Along the way, we crossed paths with the same security three times. The third time he was with a manger-type person. As we passed them, they found a lost Piglet doll and I told Terra they would take it to Lost and Found. She was still crying and telling me how it had been a good day until she lost her puffle. The two CMs overheard and asked us what happened. Long story short, the called the manager at World of Disney (back at the beginning of DTD) and he found a purple puffle in the store (ours had come from Target at home three days before, but they sold them on property too). The security guard ran back to the store, got the puffle and brought it to Terra. Terra was a mix of happy, appreciative and still sad since "it wasn't the same as hers" (to her, they look identical). In the end, I think the CMs understood that she really was appreciative of their generosity and that it was just a long night. By morning, she was much better about the situation, though she still missed her original. I think that in the end, I convinced her that a kid who really wanted a puffle found him and would take good care of him. So, a bittersweet end to a WONDERFUL birthday day at Disneyland.

The next day was Terra's birthday party with Phil's family. Before heading over, we took her to see the ocean since it wasn't far from our hotel and she'd been asking about going sometime for quite awhile.
DSC08848.jpg

I waded some, but didn't want to get too wet and was taking the pictures. Phil was "trying" to keep them dry, but in the end it failed miserably.
DSC08873.jpg

Terra just couldn't understand why I hadn't packed her swimsuit. Um, because it was February and the water was cold?!?! We ended up having to make a stop back at the hotel for dry clothes and were a little late for her own party. :upsidedow Despite a little family issue, it was a nice time and Terra loved her presents and cake!

DSC08930.jpg

The next day we were supposed to head to the desert to our friends' house. The plan was to stop at DTD for breakfast and some shopping, but I decided to stop and see if I could get some pixie dust to work our way. On the second attempt, I found a CM willing to help us out and we got our ticket from Saturday upgraded to a 2-day pass. Terra still thought we were just shopping, but instead we headed to the DCA gates for opening. We got a snack and some coffee and went to wait at the rope. As we waited, we saw several characters.
DSC08942.jpg

And a silly stitch
DSC08945.jpg

DSC08951.jpg

Toy Story Mania was closed temporaily so we hit the big wheel. I'm not actually sure what it's called now that it has a big Mickey on the center instead of a sun. Terra LOVED the swinging cars.
DSC08952.jpg

The ride was supposed to open soon so we rode King Triton's carousel and then saw Woody.
DSC08965.jpg

The people getting in line behind us for Woody were told they were now waiting for Jessie so we hopped right back in. It amazes me that even when they say "she'll be here in 3 minutes" people won't wait to be the 2nd person in line, but once she arrives they'll get in the end of the line and wait 15 minutes.
DSC08966.jpg

By now Toy Story was open so we hopped in line! After that, we went back over to Magic Kingdom for some last minute visits...
DSC08971.jpg

We got in line for Pooh and Tigger
DSC08979.jpg

DSC08982.jpg

As we finished up with Tigger, Eeyore got in the last slot in the section so we got to see him as well.
DSC08984.jpg

We rode Pooh and then made another trip to The Enchanted Tiki Room (a big favorite of Terra's that we miss on too many trips) and back to Small World for one last ride, though we detoured for one last castle picture.
DSC08995.jpg

By now we really needed to get on the road to our friends' house so we headed to the monorail to leave. We had parked in DTD parking since we didn't plan to stay long initially so the monorail took us almost to the car. As it was, we were an hour and a half over our free 3 hours, but we dusted with one last bit of pixie dust because the DTD attendant didn't charge us anything.

We drove up to Yucca Valley just north of Palm Springs and enjoyed a night relaxing evening with our old playgroup friends. The next day, we took the kids to The Painted Dessert (the Palm Springs zoo). The whole zoo is hot, dry weather animals and fitting for the whole area. The biggest surprise was for my future zookeeper and giraffe lover. We arrived early and went straight for the giraffes.
DSC09021.jpg

Little did Terra know that those there in the earliest part of the day get to feed the giraffes.
DSC09031.jpg

She was in heaven! It definitely made her day.
I was amazed by the number of hummingbirds around the zoo. I've never seen so many and for some reason never figured I would in a desert.
DSC09052.jpg

There were tons of really great cactus all over the zoo as well. Terra was amazed by all of the different kinds and became obsessed with them. Our friends sent her a baby cactus after we got home. Hopefully it's rooting in the pot okay and will continue to grow.
DSC09058.jpg

The zoo also had this massive small gauge train set up. They have hobbyists that set up, run and care for the train set. It has seven different lines and takes up a whole big area. They do a talk several times a day about how it works and have a scavenger hunt for the set up as well. Terra was intent on finding all 50 things on the list, plus the "engineer" put her toy lizard on one of the trains for a ride. I don't think the man gets many kids who want to know as much about the trains as Terra and the boys did. They hung in there with the other enthusiasts listening to the "tour" and asked really good questions.
DSC09073.jpg

Back at Michelle's house Terra continued to add to her list of animals that she wants us to have at some point. Her first mission, is for us to live somewhere where we can have chickens.
DSC09102.jpg

She also wants pet mice so that they can run all over her.
DSC09120.jpg

DSC09112.jpg

On our last morning, we headed out a little early to stop at the Cabazon Dinosaurs. These are some of the big life-size dinos on the side of the highway that you sometimes see in movies.
DSC09150.jpg

We walked around the museum to see the audio-animatronic dinosaurs, then panned for rocks, dug for fossils and finally climbed up into the T-Rex. Terra loved being in its mouth.
DSC09154.jpg

This was really neat, but I wish they hadn't turned a really cool dinosaur stop into a creation museum. While the basics of what they were saying fit my beliefs, for the most part anyway, they had a tendency to go overboard and some of it was pretty far-reaching for me. Terra's not big on sign reading yet so we didn't have to get into much discussion over it.
After the dinos it was time to hit the road for the airport. We made it there without much incident. (Getting lost a little doesn't count as an incident, right? I thought making a highway change would speed things up. Had I just gone straight another 200 feet I would have seen the airport. I chalk it up to having gone south out of the airport to Orange County at arrival and coming in from the desert to the west when we left.)
We had a WONDERFUL trip overall! Terra still tells me how great it was to go to Disneyland ON her birthday. I'm so glad we made it work out after we couldn't make the trip to WDW that birthday after all and now not the next one either. Plus, thanks to my mother-in-law, I don't think the trip cost us much of anything. In the end, about the only thing out of pocket was the extra day at Disneyland so I'm really glad we added the "make up" day.
