DDA Chapter 25

Tammi, they used to be very lax with the discounts. Now, not so much. Did you try to buy the tickets through member services? They would hold the tickets at will call and you could pick them up with your DVC card when you got there.

They wouldn't send my MNSSHP tickets to me using my discount. I had to pick them up and show my card.

Colby's IEP meeting wasn't very productive. They added the ADHD diagnosis, but he will still only be receiving services for his speech issues. His primary teacher thinks that she can work with him enough to keep him at grade level without sending him out of the room for extra help. I'm not as convinced, but I will keep a close eye on the situation.

Nick and Hunter both had Lacrosse games tonight. Hunter lost, Nick's team won. They are undefeated:cool1: Nick did get his first penalty tonight, but it was bound to happen eventually.

I called them and they said for tours I had to book through WDWTOUR.

Congrats to Nick. Sometimes you have to sacrifice with a penalty to prevent a score!

I know this is not the same thing, but the past few times I have had to contact specialty areas at WDW I have gotten less than acceptable answers or service. It seems that no one really knows the answers anymore. I need to order tickets for the post race party for the Wine & Dine Race on October 2. I contacted WDW who sent me to ESPN Wide World of Sports who emailed me a number for Disney Sports. But that number was really Convention Sales. And they told me that Disney Sports wouldn't be able to sell the tickets either. I wrote another email to ESPN WWoS asking them to please get me a better answer and I have yet to receive a response. That was over a week ago. :sad2:

Deb - I am sorry that your IEP meeting was less than satisfactory.

I don't know the entire situation but I wondered if it is possible that the classroom teacher is hesitant to give up control of any of Colby's education? In my experience I have seen classroom teachers who are unwilling to use the help from special area teachers for fear that it will appear they are less than prepared to handle the needs of that child.

If you are not happy with the outcome of that meeting I know that you will keep on top of it!

Congrats to Nick and his team. Hopefully the penalty was not severe! That is a rough game. I used to love to go watch my girls' friends play in HS.

Good morning, DDA!

The Physics AP didn't go so well. Apparently there was a lot of material that they hadn't covered yet. It's ok...if she goes into a science field she would most likely have to take calculus based physics anyway, and she only took the B exam which isn't calc-based. Today is chemistry. She is expecting it to go about as well, but I have faith that she will do better today. Tomorrow is the last one!

I don't have much on my schedule other than work, errands, and cleaning today. I am driving to/from swimming tonight which means that I get an hour and a half of reading time. ;) (Unless I decide to be good and take a walk instead, but I think it might be raining by then. I can be good, but not that good.)

Have a great day, DDA!

Why are there little Twitter, FB, & email icons in the bottom of the posts? Did I miss something?

Beth wish Laura good luck for us. All this testing is over the top these days :wizard:

Morning, all!

I spent 4 hours in the dentist chair yesterday, and I'm feeling it today! I came away with 4 temporary crowns on my top front teeth, and right now I'm feeling a little like Frankenstein's bride. I know that the final product will be nice, but 3 to 4 weeks is a long time to wait with (what I see) an ugly smile. I told Alan last night that I don't want to leave the house. I'm being really careful not to smile or talk too much. I just don't want to show my mouth right now!

Beth - Good luck to Laura! My niece took an AP Music Theory Exam yesterday and it lasted 7 hours! Does that seem excessive to anyone but me? She is scheduled to also take her AP Calculus, AP European History, and AP English exam in the next few days. Yikes!!! I can't imagine going to school these days!

Deb - Stay on that teacher!!! I know that I don't really have to tell you that, but you are Colby's best advocate! I'm so glad that you got the ADHD on his IEP! That is huge!!! If he is not learning to your satisfaction, GO AFTER IT!!! No one else will really take care of him the way that you can! I'm so glad you got it documented!

Have a wonderful day, everyone! I'm off to try to get Katie's violin fixed before her concert tonight. Her bridge snapped in 2 yesterday, and do you know how hard it is to find a ready made bridge? Most places want to send the whole violin in to have a bridge carved specifically for the violin. I really can't afford that right now, as we are moving Katie from a 3/4 violin to my old full size violin during the summer. I need to call around to see if there are any music stores that carry ready made bridges!

Glynis, good luck with all the dental work. It will be worth it in the end!

Good luck to your niece with her AP exams. A 7-hour AP exam is ridiculous. None of Laura's have been more than 3 hours. If she is taking the English Language and Composition one, that is tomorrow morning (and Laura's last AP).

I hope that you can get the violin fixed inexpensively!

Thanks, Deb! Really, though, she brought it upon herself. No one twisted her arm until she signed up for 5 AP classes. And apparently she isn't a quick learner, since she has registered for 6 AP classes next year. She'll be burnt out before she gets to college, but she has a mind of her own.

Good luck finding a bridge :wizard: I'm sure the crowns are not as bad as you think. We are always most critical of ourselves. I'm sure the final product will be fabulous.

I managed to talk Nick out of taking all AP courses next year. He is still taking 3, but I think that is plenty for 1st semester Freshman year.

3 AP courses as a 9th grader is definitely enough! Our school doesn't have any AP courses that early. Every science except Physics requires a year in a Regents level course before enrollment in a AP course, and Physics comes after Earth Science, Biology, and Chemistry, so the earliest for that is 11th grade. The two English AP classes are offered only to juniors and seniors. AP Calculus is basically a senior-level class, though there have been some advanced juniors who take it. Ninth and tenth graders take global studies, but they don't generally take any AP tests, because the course is broader (but not as in depth) than European History or World History). So, anyway, yes 3 AP classes is definitely enough for a 9th grader, and you will be much less stressed during the test weeks in May.

thanks for the pep talks, girls! I know the finished product will be great, but I'm having a hard time seeing it, right now.

Bad news on the violin. It's not going to be a quick fix, at all! We need to send the violin off to have the bridge fitted to the violin. Not something we can do right now. So, Katie is going to have to use my full size violin for the rest of the year. We'll send off the 3/4 size and have it fixed (not cheap), and it will be ready for the twins to start on. Katie will rent to own a full size violin next year. She's been saving her money, and can rent to own a brand new violin (she will be the only owner) for 15 dollars a month. Alan and I have told her that if she can raise half the money, we'll match her the other half. So far, she's got almost 200 dollars saved, so we'll let her rent to own with that until it's gone. Thank heaven she's got some babysitting regulars!

Glynis - Good luck with the dental work, I'm a huge chicken when it comes to the dentist. Sorry about the violin but congrats to Katie, my girls could never save any money.

Beth - good luck to Laura

Tammi - we took the KTTK tour in November, I booked with my AP but they never asked to see it when we arrived.

Well there's been some drama with my surgery, it's not going to happen on the 17th, the surgery center didn't want me to have it done there because of my other health problems, they felt it would be better to have it done in the hospital in case there were any problems. So I've been rescheduled for the 19th.
