Hi all!! I haven't fallen off the face of the earth...though I did want it to swallow me up....maybe as I come to terms with what is going on I will be able to tell you all....for now though I just appreciate the love and prayers.

I went to my post surgery appt today...I nearly passed out even with pain medicine. They need to warn people that it can be a side effect of taking off the splint....and I should have realized that they were going to take the staples out today.:rolleyes1It turns out that I have 7 screws/pins and one plate in my ankle with some bone fragments/fissures still there...it seems that my ankle could have shattered if the surgeon had put the 8th pin in to stabilize the ankle...I never do anything half way.:rolleyes1 I have to go back next week to get another cast put on because I couldn't keep my ankle at a 90 degree angle.:headache:

Yikes, Theresa! Sounds horribly painful! Please take care!

I'm so sorry that things are yucky! Please know that you are in my prayers always.

Ouch. I hope the next time isn't so painful :headache::wizard:

Theresa I just saw a headline that 2 teens were shot at a middle school in Columbine. I hope that didn't effect you or your family in any way :hug::hug:

Poor Jefferson County can't catch a break....Westminister (where this shooting happened) is a town over from us and in the same district as Columbine HS....what sickens me most is that this was once again a 32 year old man who decided to come at the end of the school day and shoot at innocent children. Thank God that a teacher and bus driver took him down shortly after he started firing

Good morning. :)

Theresa :hug:

Bernadette - yay for hard drive recovery!

The School Board had a meeting last night. It seems that they are taking away all the half days and teacher workdays that we were supposed to have, and adding 20 minutes to the day, 10 in the AM and 10 in the PM, to make up for all our snow days. At least we won't be adding on to the end of the year. YET! We are supposed to get snow tonight!

They also voted on the before Labor Day start, and that got voted down, so we will continue to start the Tuesday after LD.

Love and good thoughts headed your way, Theresa. How sorry I am that the ankle pain continues to haunt you. Let's hope for mega-healing soon!! :hug:

I thank you for this synopsis of last night's School Board meeting, Tammi! I knew that decisions has been made but hadn't had the time to hunt them down yet today! The 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after are not too bad. Unless you are a HS student and already catching the bus around 6:00 AM! :eek:

The time changes shouldn't affect our lessons and classes too badly, I hope!

I am putting my head in the sand over the latest snow report. I just cannot deal with it! :sad1: :mad:

Good news with mom, the spot turned out to be a thicking of the skull, the doctor said everyone has it.
YAY:cool1::cool1::cool1:

That sounds like a good result.:thumbsup2

I'm so sick of snow!!!:hug::hug:

Single digits!!! :cool1::woohoo::woohoo:

I must remember that most people who are taking thier six year olds... this is their first trip. They also don't dis, and have no idea what a DVC is, Soarin', Kim Possible adventure, Jambo House, I'm speaking a forgien language to them. They didn't even know that there were guidebooks made for kids. :sad2:

So my DGS is going over to one of his classmate's homes tomorrow and talking his Guide to the Magic and Birbaum's guide for kids. :banana::banana:

Well, gotta get to work.

I hope you Eastern Pennsylvanians don't get what they are predicting. I have to drive up to the Lancaster/Valley Forge area on Saturday! :eek:

I'll be staying in the Exton area. I don't know if that is near anyone but if it is let me know!

Heidi - I'm thinking good thoughts for your mom! I'm thrilled about your cousin!

Tammi - Congrats to Nicholas! I can't wait to hear his reaction!!!

Anne Marie - Yay for cruise documents! How I wish I were going!

Stephanie - Yay for single digits!!! You are going to have a great time!!!

Deb - I'm sorry that Colby is feeling "left out". I'm sure you'll do something wonderful to make it up to him! Congrats on the "job", though. The extra money will be nice on your trip!!!

Vickie - I'm so jealous of your trip! Wish I could go!!!!

Elizabeth - Good luck with the 504. They can't deny you one, though, so mama bear it through the red tape! Katie is in pre-Algebra this year and will take Algebra next year, and I forsee many headaches in our future. I'm no math whiz and neither is Alan, so I don't know how she's going to make out! Luckily, the middle school has a great tutoring program that is free to students. It's really helped her this year!

The elementary kids play opened last night, and there was a HUGE crowd! My kids were so excited, and had such a good time! Now, they have a break until Friday night, while the other cast performs tonight and tomorrow.

I'm determined that today is going to be a better day! I got up early to get a head start on today's studying, and it's amazing how much I can get done without kids asking questions, and just being loud!

Have a great day, everyone!

Lots of great things to ditto!

I'm glad that the play went so well and that they had a good audience. I always feel sorry for the performers when the auditorium is empty.

It's too bad that you don't live closer, math is one of our stronger points.

Glynis, good luck with your studies! Hopefully Katie will be OK with the Algebra.

The problem here is that Algebra I is technically the lowest level of math in high school. If you can't cut it, the ONLY way out is to have a 504 or an IEP. I just told the counselor I will enroll him in Algebra I, but my concern is HOW LONG it will take to get him OUT if he is failing and we don't have our documents in order. Her suggestion was to make him go to tutoring before AND after school until he gets it well enough to pass. :sad2: Yeah. Because every 14-year-old should have 15 hours of math instruction every week. And if he is struggling in any other subject, he should have tutoring for that, too. He should definitely sacrifice EVERY OTHER ASPECT of his life just so he can pass these required classes in HIGH SCHOOL. :headache: Yep. I definitely want him so burned out by the end of his sophomore year that he will be begging for the GED.

Does the state REALLY not understand why the drop out rate is so high? :mad:

Elizabeth, I hope that you can work it all out without too many obstacles thrown in your way.

Good news with mom, the spot turned out to be a thicking of the skull, the doctor said everyone has it.

I am so happy and relieved to read this!

:hug::wizard:You can do it!!!!

I certainly understand the stress. I was basically out of commission for over a month between being sick and in morning both at work and at home. Work is still crazy. Home is totally out of control and I am too overwhelmed to even know where to start to get things back under control.

Maybe the Give a Day project that Joe & I are doing will be the start. I have to sort through stuff that is good enough to give to them. That will help me weed through a bunch of stuff that can go to them, other charities, or the trash.

That Give a Day project sounds like something that I need to do around here! I did start a little, but I became overwhelmed very quickly. We have too much stuff!

:hug: I am so sorry that things aren't going well for you. If there is anything I can do to make your day a little brighter, please let me know.

Yay for not having to extend the school year (yet)! I can't see how extending the day by 20 minutes will actually benefit the students. In high school, that would work out to a little more than 2 minutes/period. I know that they were out for a long time, but it seems like they should just forgive those days at this point other than adding back in the teacher workdays and half days.

If we get the storm they are calling for tomorrow and Fri. we are in trouble. :headache:

pixiedust: that you don't get it. Our newspaper is sensationalizing the predictions for this area. I guess that's how you sell papers. Today's headline: Blizzard could dump a foot of snow. The story goes on to say that we could have near hurricane force gusts and blinding snow falling more than an inch an hour. Every other weather report that I've read says 4"-6" and wind gusts of up to 28 mph. The kids are hoping that the superintendents believe the newspapers predictions.
