Well, the hits keep coming. I went to get in my bed and it was soaking wet. I took off the comforter, the sheets and unzipped the cover and my bed is full of water. And my wet vac is in the basement. And the entrance to the basement is around the house and through 6 foot of drifted snow.

I'm going to sleep. I'll deal with this bullpoopy in the morning.

Happy, happy, joy, joy.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

yucky!!

Sorry about your bed Stephanie!

Winter Olympics start tonight, my favorite to watch :thumbsup2

They have closed the schools tomorrow, no snow yet just some sleet, but southerners and icy roads are a REALLY bad combination.

Dallas ISD is closed, which is how you know things are bad. Not only that, but they had called it by 7 PM last night. That has NEVER NEVER happened! They NEVER close the schools until the absolute very last minute. BUT there was a bit of a riot at one of the high schools yesterday because 50 teachers didn't show up. There were about 100 kids outside in a big mob, fighting and throwing snow at each other. Maybe the district decided that was enough bad press for the week? A local news crew happened to film it and air it for all to see.

Last night Princess's school was listing 10 AM start, which is ASININE because they get out at 11:45 every day anyway. :sad2: But now they are closed. :) I was NOT looking forward to trying to take her to school. I don't like to drive in weather like this to begin with, but especially not with Pixie in the car.

Just got an e-mail from Momboss - they have no power and there are branches down everywhere. :scared1: She said if I have to go in today it won't be until later. DH is off on Fridays anyway, so he isn't out there slipping and sliding.

Science Fair night 2010 is in the books! No more science fair until next year!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Daniel & Sophie got great scores on their boards & presentations. There were lots of interesting subjects covered by the other kids as well. Very good night!

Glad it is over!! :thumbsup2
I think DS got a 96 on his project this year, and I am hoping we will never have to do another one. Though there is a rumor that we will have to do History Day for the next few years. Blah.

I'm sorry, Stephanie.

Theresa, hope you are doing OK! :wizard:

Terry you and Hal could spend the day together, date night but durning the day instead.

Our schools have off again today also, but they haven't had any snow days before this, just delays.

:wizard: to thoes in the south, hope the bad weather doesn't last long.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am trying to do this in as few posts as possible so I can get a move on! Things are not back to normal here, but we are really working at it. I am teaching private lessons again this morning and early afternoon. We pushed out recitals up to 2:00 and 3:15 rather than 6:00 and 7:15 so we can get everyone home before it gets dark and the roads freeze again. We have had roof collapses in our area, with one death and gas leaks. It has to get better, right???

Oh, my... Stephanie. Not a good thing. Hope the fix is easy.

Anne Marie - Just think 364 days till the next Science Fair. Never too early to plan!

Jennifer - Our schools are still out too. Some are planning a makeup for Monday, but we are supposed to get more snow then!

Terry - I hope you and Hal have a great day today!

Bernadette - I think I am done with PhotoPass. It is just too much work. I will find a friendly stranger to take a picture of the traveling group so I can prove I was there. :rotfl:

Deb - I am with you... I like the baking part, but not the clean-up. Seems like cooking meals is not so messy!

Theresa - I hope the healing is continuing for you.

Elizabeth - I heard that Dallas got over a foot of snow! Be careful out there!!!

I forgot to mention that we got the Monorail Mailings from WDW here too. Ours all say they are happy we are returning. However, one of my co-workers got a different one. It was more of a brochure weight paper and included a DVD. This is basically her first trip. Last one was when her kids were little. These kids are now grandparents!! She was so excited.

My boss told me last night that as she was shoveling ou her driveway again yesterday she was wondering how many days until we can make our trip. I am so glad they are both delighted about this vacation!

Thank you! I've been fighting my director on this forever, and although I've lost with her, I'm glad to know that someone else finds it ridiculous. We follow the public school for closings and delays. If there is a one-hour delay, we also have a one-hour delay for the start (and end at the same time). Our class is only 2.5 hours long. With a one-hour delay, they start at 10:15 am and are dismissed at 11:45 am. We don't have that many delays during the school year, so I (and the other teachers) say we should just close the preschool for any public school delay/closing. We did convince her to close if the public school posts a 2-hour delay. As it is, it hasn't mattered to me at all, because we haven't had any closings or delays for that last few years on my class days.

Theresa, I hope that you are healing well and not in too much pain.

Stephanie, I hope that the cause of your wet bed is easily remedied.

I'm a tiny bit jealous of everyone who has a trip planned. My parents are leaving next week for almost a month in Florida (not Disney...silly people). We get to dog sit. I'm a teensy bit jealous of them, too. Someday...

Our preschool "party" went well yesterday, though the day started with a 4-year old having an out and out tantrum that had us all plugging our ears. His older sister stayed home from school with an ear infection, and he decided that he shouldn't be in school either. Thank goodness he finally became reasonable again.

Good morning. :)

A blanket of :hug:s and :wizard: for all!

It's nice to be home, and I'm off for the next 3 days. I really hope they cancel the school holiday for Monday and send the kids to school. They need to get back into the classroom. There is snow expected, as Elin said, on Monday, but just a few inches. Other than that, the temps are to remain above freezing for the next week!

Good Morning all!!

I am doing okay today....looking forward to gs cookies being delivered later:goodvibes

One good thing about the hydrocodone.....when I fall asleep at night I stay asleep!!

Any recommendations for a good chapter book series for Alyssa? Something a little more challenging that Frannie K. or Magic Treehouse.

Good morning. Here's hoping you all have more normal days from now on!

Stephanie - I'm so sorry about your bed. Did you find out the cause?

Elin - Recitals early sounds like a very good thing! Scary about the roofs collapsing!

Elizabeth - Sounds like you have a day at home, for the most part, today. Glad DH isn't out on the roads! That's always a worry. Alan's always out in all kinds of weather, and I worry about the other crazy drivers plowing into him!

Tammi - Good luck on Monday! Do you think the school district will do that? It sounds like it would be a good solution. President's day is kind of an odd day off, anyway!

Beth - Glad your party went well yesterday, tantrum notwithstanding!

I get to go bowling this morning, and then back home. I've got to do some online training for Scouts, and then take a test for my class. The work is getting more and more tricky, so I'm taking more and more time. Not good! I'm supposed to be done with the class by April 1, and I don't think I'm going to make it! Wish me luck with that!

Alan and I are going out for Valentine's day tonight. We were going to go tomorrow night, but a neighbor really needs Katie to babysit tomorrow night, and we're easy, so tonight it is! Don't know where we're going or what we'll be doing, but it will be fun to go out!

Tomorrow, we are off to IKEA to get Katie a desk chair, and some more bookshelves, and then we're finally taking the kids to see "The Princess and the Frog." They are all really excited! It opens at the dollar theater today, so that's our Valentine gift to the kids!

I got Katie's schedule hammered out with her counselor yesterday. Barring any misfortune, she will have Academy English, Academy Utah History, Academy Science, Algebra 1, Health, P.E., Intermediate Orchestra, Spanish 1, half a year of Drama and half a year of Creative writing. She's pretty exited about the schedule.

Have a great day everyone! Stay toasty warm!
