DDA Chapter 24

Good morning, everyone! We were supposed to get a snowstorm overnight, but it must have decided to go east, because we didn't get ANYTHING! Not that I'm complaining! It was nice not to have to scrape my windshield this morning!

Nothing going on here, except more studying. Timothy and I are staying home today, getting ready to babysit my nieces and nephews from tonight thru Saturday. Pray for me that I'll survive with my sanity intact! At least I get to leave tomorrow for bowling, and that means Alan will be in charge! Yikes!!!

Jen - I hope you feel better soon! I'm glad you are taking the day off to rest. Sometimes you just need to pamper yourself, instead of trying to push through an illness.

Tammi - Your kids will be off school all next week!!?!!? That would drive me crazy. I would be angry, watching it eat into my summertime activities.

Theresa - How are you feeling this morning?

If we get what they are predicting, I'd put money on the fact that they wouldn't go back to school until at least Thursday, with a delayed start. It's insane here.

Deb - If I could send all this crap your way I would! I have no use for it here!

Wow! We are supposed to get some of that here but more like icy rain/sleet. I am pretty sure there will be another delay tomorrow so I am not getting up until we get the 6am call on what is happening. Good luck & don't forget to get your pre storm groceries!!!

Daniel was telling me that he put the "Lighting Thief" book on reserve at the school library. He is #8 to get the book. This morning I happen to get a 15% coupon emailed to me from Barnes & Noble. So I went & got him the first 3 books set. With my member card it came to $14 for the books. This is his gift for his super report card. He's going to be excited when he finds out that he doesn't have to wait for 7 other kids to finish the book before he gets to read it.:) He is on course to be validictorian in his grade & I am so proud of him. All the crap we had to deal with in his prior years in school & that jerk of a principal telling me he needed to see a social worker because he would not "level out" & do the work the class was doing..Yeah cause he was bored, ya moron!!:headache:

Ok, venting over..:rolleyes1 I am just happy he is happy & doing well.

Yay for a great deal! Miles loved those books and has read and re-read them. We have a "date" to the movie next Friday or Saturday. He is so excited, but he has already said that the movie probably won't be as good as the book.

Congratulations to Daniel for doing so well, too!

I think i am actually going to take a sick day tomorrow--i havent taken any this year..im just feeling horrible and cant get over it..i think a day of resting is going to be the only way to get me over this..ugh! Im going to wait and see hwo i feel overnight--wake up around 4 and if i still feel horrible, put in for a sub..then ill have to run into work and throw together sub plans ..then bed all day!

I hope that you feel better soon!

It's a perfectly sunny, beautiful day. Which means a 2 hr. delay, but at least they are going to school! :cool1: Tomorrow, however will be a different story. We are supposed to get a blizzard lasting through Saturday, which means no school next week.

I personally am perfectly happy with no snow, but we are very low on snowfall this year. There is nothing in our forecast either.

we might get some this weekend...but we are desperate in the mountains for the snow because that affects spring and summer watering.

I keep meaning to read them, but I never quite seem to get around to it. Matthew read the first when it first came out and really enjoyed it. He was kind of on the older side of the target audience, though, and he didn't get into any of the sequels. Miles found Matthew's copy of The Lightning Thief a couple of years ago and loved it, so we now have all the sequels as well.

I asked for a Stephen's Minister(a lay person who is trained in listening and advocacy) to come next to me while going through this stuff with Jim. I got to meet up with her once....it felt so good to have somebody impartial to blow off steam to. I called her on Friday after I got home from the ER. Even though she is suffering from what could easily move into pneumonia (she sounded horrid) she made sure we had food Monday and Tuesday and that the church knew about our predicament. The head of the ministry brough over a lovely supper last night with fruit....oh how I had been craving fruit...it was too bad the canteloupe tasted like cardboard. Still want fruit or salad badly.

Help me come up with some finger foods for Sunday's game....including fruit..please.

Thank you both...I keep telling Dana I want to send his old principal a letter detailing his grades & how her comments were so very wrong but he says to let it go. Ok, it's gone. Poof!

Jen,
Oh no! Try to get to a minimart just for the basics. Feel better.

Theresa,
Sounds like you have a great community at your church.

Beth,
I never heard about the books until we saw the movie previews. Daniel wanted to read the book before he saw the movie.

Anne Marie-congrats to Daniel. I'm not like Daniel but I had a high school guidance counselor tell me I had to "face reality" when I asked him to explain how they calculated rank in class and I was in the bottom 1/2 of my class.

:wizard:For all not feeling well!

:wizard:For all facing snow & ice. I am done with winter!

I HATE photopass!!!!!! I really think this is the last time I buy the CD unless I hear that they dramatically improve their website! It is down so much and then when I do get in it doesn't work right.:headache: SO frustrating!!!!

Anne Marie - congratulations to Daniel, and you and Dana! Just goes to show that we need to advocate for our children!

Bernadette - I was on photopass today too, trying to finish up. I think I'm done. It certainly wants me to be.

Theresa - I hope you are getting along okay.

School is canceled for tomorrow.

Tammi,
Oh no, another cancellation? Do you have make up snow days?

Bernadette,
Don't get me started...Daniel was so bored in 1st & 2nd grade that the teacher asked him to leave the class. He actually corrected a math problem on the board that she had done incorrectly....sent him to the principals office. Principal sent him to the school social worker. The SW gave him a book to take home "Berenstein Bears talk to a Physciotrist about their feelings." Anyway when he brought it home I just about blew my top off. Ok, I am letting it go, I am letting it go.. Keep moving forward....:hippie:
