DDA Chapter 24

Good morning, everyone! Wow! Everyone must be really busy, or really down with the January blahs! Not too many posts to catch up on.

I get to take Katie to the dentist today. Hooray! Well, we'll see! He couldn't see all the kids today, so it's Katie's turn, and the rest go in 2 weeks.

Yesterday was crazy warm, here. All day long I could hear the icicles on my roof melting and dripping outside. Every once in a while, I'd hear one break off and fall. It was wonderful! However, we are due for a storm today and tomorrow. It's supposed to be rain today and snow tomorrow, but who knows what will really happen.

I'm having some real problems with my coding class! The textbook is not very user friendly, and when I email questions to the "instructors", they take forever to answer. In fact, I asked a question 2 days ago, and they still haven't responded. Last night, I decided I couldn't wait any longer, and went ahead and took one of the exams. I lucked out and got 92 percent on the exam, but I'm really scared for the future! I should be getting responses to questions more quickly than that! Oh well, I guess I'll just do the best that I can.

I hope everyone else's Wednesday goes well!

Good luck with that class :wizard:

Good Morning

It's another cold day here. I can hear the wind blowing. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow and Friday. I certainly hope so as I need to get my outside decorations down. It's been way too cold for me to get out there. I was happy to find our volunteer vouchers in my email this morning :cool1: Those are all printed and in my safe with our US tickets and passports. It's nice to have a few things paid for :lmao: I need to run out and find something to create an astronaut costume out of. Colby needs one for Friday and it needs to fit over his snow clothes. They are going to pretend that the snow covered playground is the surface of the moon :confused3 other then that it should be a pretty quiet day.

Glynis - good luck with your class! I have every faith you will do well, but I agree that you should get answers to your questions more quickly. Is there a supervisor to whom you can complain?

Deb - :yay: for the vouchers! That was super fast.

Whew.
We don't watch sports of any kind, not even the olympics.

I am a casual football watcher and basketball, also (hard to grow up in my house and not know about those two a little). But, I watch baseball a little more.

Hockey....I don't get it.

The Olympics...I could take or leave them....they kind of drive me nuts.

Sports take up 10 minutes of the news broadcast....and most of that time is spent on local teams....I am sick and tired of the Broncos....there is usually 5 minutes a week or more on them, even on the off season. What I really hate is when they make our sports "headline" items....please. :rolleyes1

Good Morning All-

Glynis-I think luck had little to do with a 92% but you are right they need to be answering questions in a more timely matter. Did all of the clothes fit Katie?

Welcome home Tammi....sounds like a good time was had, even if it was a little chilly.

I didn't believe poor Cassidy on Friday night that she was ill (she went to the basketball game for pep band...figured her symptoms were signs of not enough water) until I woke up from a dead sleep at 3:00 on Monday morning with the same symptoms....it was icky!! I am feeling better today but Jimminy Christmas. It could also explain her attitude of nongratitude on Saturday.

Ditto from me!

Thanks, Theresa! There are a couple of shirts that she hasn't tried on yet, but so far, everything has fit just fine! Thanks again for sending them on. It's really helped her self esteem!

Why, yes, Elin! There is a supervisor. I emailed her yesterday morning. Haven't heard from her, yet, either. That's another frustration! I feel like I've been set out to sink or swim on my own. Not a good feeling.

I went out and found some supplies to make an astronaut costume. This is so not the time of year for costume supplies. I ended up with some white paper coveralls from the paint store and a couple of clear bowls from the dollar store. Chris helped me cut them and we only had a couple of cracks that we managed to tape over. It will have to do. I need to make a couple of stickers for it. He also wants the big pack for his back so I think I'll stuff a backpack with fiberfill and make a white cover for it.

Glynis, I feel your pain on the e-mails. I sent an e-mail to DS's drama teacher and NO reply. But then I remembered she never replied to 2 other e-mails I sent back in SEPTEMBER. Apparently that is just how she rolls. Which means I will have to pin her down IN PERSON and ask her the SAME questions.

DS got in the car with DH this afternoon and said "The teacher asked if mom can bring something." WHAT ON EARTH are we talking about? Bring WHAT? Bring it WHEN? And WHY does this woman NOT REPLY to her e-mails????? :headache: I told DH he HAS TO get out of the car and go inside tomorrow and find out what the bloody hell is going on. I am signed up to pick up lunch for the kids on Saturday. I am NOT supposed to have to pay for it OOP. If there is a surprise coming down the pike I need to know NOW.

Hi DDA! :wave2:

Please pray for all those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Our church has a mission team there right now, and thank God, they are all fine. One of them is one of my absolute favorite former students. They are surrounded by damage and injuries, most of their work from past trips has been destroyed, and one team member had to tell a Haitian mother that her one-year-old was killed. The team was supposed to come home Saturday, but now we don't know if they will be able to come home earlier or later. The earthquake itself only lasted about 20 seconds, but there were aftershocks all night long.

Thank you for your prayers!

I have been praying for everyone in Haiti and all involved since I first heard about the buildings that were destroyed. With that kind of devestation, there has to be massive human loss. I will add your mission team to my prayers.

Wow, they are blessed to have survived. So many people have lost their lives  We will pray
