DDA Chapter 24

Amy, YIKES!
OK, actually, when I said we haven't had issues with AA I meant LUGGAGE issues. ;)
We have had delay issues multiple times. One weather and 2 mechanical that I can recall off the top of my head. With one of the delays we had flight crew issues, where if they didn't get the door shut the crew would go over their allowed hours and they wouldn't be able to fly. So really, I can totally see that same scenario from Airtran happening on American.

On 2 different trips we have arrived at our WDW resort past midnight due to flight problems. The one delay was like 3 hours, but they did credit each of us 6000 miles for it. Funny, the delays all seem to occur when we fly out in the afternoon. When we are the first flight out in the AM we seem to do much better.

Morning, everyone! Happy travels to Elin and Anne Marie!

Heidi - I got Anne Marie's address, and I'll PM it to you.

Elizabeth - Yikes on the prices!!! That's a LOT of money!!! Sorry about the homework stress during the holidays, too. Jacob got his big project finished and he turns it in today. His teacher (and the twins) won't even give homework for the two days they go to school next week. Not sure about Katie, yet. We'll see what happens in the next couple of days.

Well, I get to take Timothy to Alan's workplace for his H1N1 shot this morning. Hopefully I can schedule a booster for him at the same time. We'll see. Wish us luck. After that, we'll see if we can grab Alan for a quick bite of lunch and maybe finish up the Christmas shopping for the kids. I would really like to get that done ASAP!

Elizabeth - We have had good luck with AirTran. That being said: they have problems like every other airline. They mess with schedules, they have delays, they have to sit on the tarmac. But every single airline in existence has those same troubles anymore. I will continue to fly with them.

This is my final post before I leave. I am not taking my laptop so I won't be on here until the 28th.

I am lucky to be leaving tonight, I think. There is a coastal storm brewing and the entire East Coast is to get nasty winter weather beginning tomorrow and Saturday. Our initial driving plans called for leaving Friday after work and finishing up on Saturday. I think we would have had problems. As it is now, I think I will have rain to drive through, and that is all.

I will think of you all this week. Have wonderful holiday times with your families. I know I will. :goodvibes

Have a great time Elin and Anne Marie!!!

Hate to post and run, but I need coffee before work so I've got to get dressed and get out of here. Have a good day everyone!

Tonight is DS's band concert. After play rehearsal. It is going to be a brutally long day for him.

The tug-of-war between the band director and the drama teacher wears him out. No wonder they aren't allowed to dual enroll in music and theater at the Arts magnet. There aren't enough hours in a day!

I was looking forward to the weekend until I remembered we are meeting friends for breakfast Saturday AM and I have to work Saturday PM. And DH wants to put the Christmas tree up in between. I am already tired and it is only Thursday. I may end up working part of the day on Christmas Eve, too, so next week might not be as short as I originally thought.

DS has 3 BIG projects to do over the break, so I predict many fights and much tension. Happy holidays, indeed. :rolleyes1

:hug:I'm sorry about your stress, but I cannot say this enough...You have a beautiful healthy family and sometimes we overlook the most important things :goodvibes Really nothing else matters.

Have a safe drive and a wonderfully magical trip:wizard:

Life is good here. Hunter feels better each day and he is acting better than he has in months, maybe years. He is so happy as we all are. Of course things are busy. Lots of visitors, concerts and of course general Christmas festivities. Heck I haven't wrapped a single present yet :rotfl: I'm not stressed, It really doesn't matter. We are all healthy and extremely happy and thankful.

Have a wonderful, magical trip, Elin!!! :wizard: I hope the weather is OK for your drive!

We are still considering Airtran. Definitely for the trip to MCO, because like I said yesterday, delays GOING will just make me mad. Delays coming home would be much, much more problematic because DH gets up at midnight on Saturday night to go into work. We HAVE TO get home Saturday morning, because that was the only reason he agreed to stay Friday night.

Deb, glad Hunter's recovery is progressing well! :thumbsup2

Pixie is still fighting a cold. She has been HORRIBLY "spitty" this week, at pretty much EVERY feeding. She has already thrown up all over my arm and my lap this morning, even WITH a burp cloth. :sad2: I have a spare shirt in the car so I may throw my shirt in with the girls' laundry. When I get to that load. Princess wet the bed (because I JUST changed her sheets yesterday, and that is the rule - NEVER pee on anything other than sheets that have JUST been changed) so her stuff is in the dryer. I have whites in the wash now because we have been averaging 8 burp cloths a day. Good thing Pixie got a TON of burp cloths as gifts! Luckily we don't have any errands or anything today so I can concentrate on laundry until it is time for carpool.

Glynis, DS had this LUDICROUS science project due today. He was supposed to use 141 science vocab words in a game to get an "A" in that category. :scared1: He worked on it literally ALL DAY Sunday because he had play rehearsal all day Saturday. When he stopped Sunday he told me he had 100 words done, which was enough to give him a "B" for word usage. I told him to please do 15 more cards each night Mon, Tue and Wed so he would have 145 for an "A". I do NOT think his overall project will score higher than a "C". So last night he announced that he only had 108 cards. :scared1: He either miscounted on Sunday, or he lied. Even though he did more cards the past 3 nights he STILL only has enough for a "B". He also had to do abstracts of 3 science articles, due today.
He was supposed to write an essay for English, but the essay pertained to a movie the class watched when he wasn't there! He was supposed to cite specific examples from the movie, so there was absolutely no way to fake his way through it. I have no idea how he will resolve that.
I told him he has a TON of work to do over the break and he better not oppose me or whine about it. It HAS TO be done. In January we will start getting into serious play rehearsal, PLUS audition material, PLUS campus tours and that sort of thing. Unfortunately ALL of this stuff still counts for first semester, and his first semester grades are submitted with his application. The guidance counselor said it is more about fine arts than academics over there, so we'll hope that is true. The thing is, if he is equal on audition with someone else I want his grades to be enough to give him the edge.

Things are a bit hectic around here, it just dawned on me that Christmas is next week.

DH got a call from Dade County sheriff's department, they have the guy that tried to break into our truck in custody and they want us to press charges. Seems like this guy has a history, it will be interesting to learn more.

Debbie I wrapped presents yesterday after I realized tomorrow is the last day of school till after the 1st of the year, where is the time going

I am surprised & very happy they caught the person that broke into the truck! Someone was doing their job :thumbsup2

Elizabeth we got you card today. Nice picture

Marci and Family we got your card and your generousity to our family leaves us without words. Some tears were shed. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts

I'm glad to hear that they actually pursued the matter, and didn't just write a report and file it away.

Hi everyone-
I am finally home! after work, we had a girls night, which was a lot of fun. It was 8 teacher from 2 schools (a couple of them left our school this year) and we had a blast. Sat there for almost 3 hours just laughing and laughing! We exchanged our secret santa gifts and I got a bear wearing a cowboys jersey and holding a cowboys blanket :)

Now im headed to bed...TGIF (almost!)

We had Nick's concert tonight. Colby's was last night so now we have that finished for this winter. Both concerts were nice. Papa stayed with Hunter last night, but Hunter decided that he wanted to go tonight. Things went smoothly. We just can't believe how well he's doing. He has blown away all of our expectations. We are so blessed. I must say that he is happier now then he has been in months, perhaps years :goodvibes One of my coworkers at the restaurant made us dinner tonight, people have been absolutely amazing to my family. I get choked up just thinking about all we've experienced and seen over the last month. It was a month ago tomorrow that this all started for us. In some ways it seems like months have passed, in other ways it seems like mere minutes.

Hello all! Just wanted to catch up and say hi in case I disappear again for a few days. Tomorrow we've got to run errands and other fun like that in the morning, finish cleaning up in the afternoon and then I work tomorrow night from 4-12. Two of my aunts, an uncle and two cousins will get here about the same time I get home from work. Saturday Terra and I are going to bake a bunch of stuff and make a few candies! Then on Sunday, I've got to work in the morning, we're having a family cookie decorating "party" on Sunday afternoon and Terra's (and the church's) choir program and tasting party is that night.

Ack! That sounds busy! (Well, of course it is...this is our house we're talking about.) After that, it's kids, work and more work with Christmas close behind. How did it sneak up so quickly when I was trying to be so on top of everything?!?!

Jennifer (tink) - I posted to your FB too, but wanted to do so here as well in case one was better than the other... Can you post your recipe for the magical kiss cookies? Terra really wants to try them. Thanks!
