Okay, random question. If you were to read the quote below. What age/grade child would you expect it to be about? (The things in parentheses are the words I added to remove the numbers that were there.)

Pre-K. Only kidding (mostly)...the parents of preschoolers are almost always convinced that they are raising a genius, though. Picking the message apart: I wouldn't expect lack of disciplinary problems to be noted at all past first grade. I have seen plenty of preschoolers who can read, but it isn't usually something that is noted on a report card before K or first grade. AP classes really shouldn't be on the radar until middle school, but see above reference comment about little geniuses. So, I'll guess that this is K or 1st grade. And do one of these

Tia are troop leader set up a yahoo group for our troop. On yahoo groups she has it set to send us reminders for the meetings. Maybe you could try that. She also has the calendar posted of when we are going camping, etc.

That might be a good compromise. Your "communications person" could set this up and maintain it.

Who wants to tell me about the Give a Day promo? If you don't need the ticket, didn't I hear something about FPs instead? Or am I confusing that with the old bday promo? What is the link to the Project Linus blanket thing?

I know that the birthday promo had fast passes, and I thought that I read that this Give A Day promo did, too. I haven't really looked into it, since I'm still not getting much hope from dh that we'll be going anytime during the promotion.

Your calendar that you send out is all that is needed! It is their responsibility to remember, not yours to remind them. That is the whole reason for putting together a calendar at the beginning of the year.

I agree!

And the "because I'm a working parent" thing -- what a joke. Those parents are the ones that should be putting all calendar info down when they first get it, then living by their calendars if they are so busy. And besides -- once they get the info, they can put it in their computer/phone and set reminders FOR THEMSELVES.

DDA friends... I just got this message from Glynis. Please keep Timothy in your thoughts and prayers!!!

Could you please let the DDA know that we are at the hospital with Timothy? We brought him in yesterday around 5:00. He has pneumonia, RSV, a double eye infection, a double ear infection and thrush. We are hoping to go home later today, but they are watching he oxygen levels, heart rate, and are pumping full of IV fluids and antibiotics. We sure could use any prayers and pixie dust floating around.

Definitely! I can give out note after note and calendar after calendar, and some parents are still clueless (and then it somehow becomes my fault). Of course, there are plenty of parents who are on top of things, too, and even the clueless ones can be great parents.

I know. I certainly hope that I wasn't like that when my kids were little. I don't think that I was (at least most of the time). I had one friend when Matthew was little who was always trying to compare her son and Matthew (and usually trying to show how much better her son was). It drove me nuts, so I was careful not to do that.

Being a working mom/single parent with active kids has forced me to be organized. I have an at-a-glance planner that I carry with me at work and also a dry erase calendar on the fridge. EVERYTHING is on both of those calendars. It's there for the kids to see, so they know my work schedule, when they will be at their dads, what activities are going on in the evenings, etc. If something comes home from school or I make an appt. it immediately goes on the calendars. John once got me a PDA, but I took it back. I couldn't handle the paperlessness of it all. I like a big layout, that I can look at and write on. I don't think I could ever handle being a scatterbrain. It would send me over the edge.

No, she meant it the way it came out. She was telling me her friend fell on the playground and hurt her knee. And it was horrible, and it was sore ALLLLL day, and ON and ON. So I asked if the friend went to the nurse, and that was when she told me the nurse is not for injuries.

Tammi Project Linus is available in your area. Try this link. If it doesn't work google Disney Give a Day, go to the website and put in your area, look in children category and check the box for opportunities for under age 18. It will narrow it down.

You can use the voucher for one park admission, if you already have an AP or ticket you can get a fastpass instead. Must prove your identity and show activated ticket or you can trade it in toward a longer lenght ticket or AP. We will activate ours and trade in towards APs for all of us. We do need to provide birth certificates or passports for the boys to prove identity.

Wow, that poor baby I hope Alan was able to come home to be with them. That is just so scary. Hunter and I are both praying that he recovers quickly

Hunter is home sick today. He has a cough, sore throat and stuffy nose. It's been coming for days, but he is tired and feeling icky so home it is. He also has a headache which puts me on the edge. I'm sure it is the cold, but you know how it goes after what we went through.

Thanks Deb. Do you know if I can do this......

When we go on our cruise, I think we will go to BCVs and spend 3 days/2 nights. My parents don't have tickets and I told them we don't have to go to the parks, that there would be so much to do just enjoying the resort, boardwalk and dtd. Could I do the project in their name and then give them the ticket? Maybe we could then go over to Epcot one day. They could use the one day tickets and i could use mine for FPs. I'd save the kids' for when their APs expire.
