DDA Chapter 23

Our mall was bustling but not overcrowded. We got my MIL a pretty satin pj set with a matching robe. It has little rose embroidery on it. Got the webkinz at Hallmark as they were having a sale. So now I just have to finish with my mom & some odds & ends for my kids...I'll have to do that during the week.

After some lunch at Chick FilA we came home & decorated outside. Looks like we are the 1st to decorate outside in our neighborhood. In NY the homes in our town looked like the Osborne lights by the 2nd week of November.:rotfl:

For those of you that have a Wii, please give me the basics. Chuck really wants one. We may get it as our Christmas gift to each other. We are trying to save for Disney so won't get anything else but that.

If you are only going for 3 days I would wear a pair of jeans on the plane and at most bring one other pair. Jeans can be worn more than one day and you have access to a washer and dryer if you really need to wash them.

I managed to get 4 pairs into the luggage, and I will wear a 5th pair on the plane.

Glad you and Hunter had a good night!

I'm home, and happy to report that the weather here is much nicer than in PA. I dropped the kids off at their dad's on the way through and they will come home tomorrow. Now I have a nice, quiet evening ahead of me.

Let me just say that I don't feel one bit sorry for you all in a packing quandry. You're going to WDW and I'm not. ;) But, of course, I'll be going through the exact same thing you are in about a month or so.

If it wasn't possibly going to be COLD there wouldn't BE a quandry! :rolleyes1

That's a tough situation, Vicki. :grouphug: I hope things improve for her and you.

Sorry to hear that, Vicki! Maybe she needs to get out and do some volunteering or something?

I don't play video games, but DS enjoys his Wii. I use the Wii Fit on occasion - it is user friendly but the disc that comes with it will NOT be enough to get you in shape. I find it hard to do the yoga since I don't have a HUGE mirror to see myself in when I try to do the poses.

Crap. The shelf of the desk that holds the keyboard just fell COMPLETELY off. The screws pulled out of the particleboard. The problem is, I don't see the screws anywhere under the desk!!! DH isn't home. I wonder if he broke it and just didn't mention it? Then he left it so I would think *I* broke it. Hmmm.

It turns out the shelf will sit on the bracket and slide back and forth just fine without the bracket being screwed to the shelf. None of us have any idea how long the shelf has been like this, but it must have been quite awhile. Whatever. As long as I odn't have to put the keyboard on top of the desk I don't care if the shelf is bolted tot he bracket or not!

Don't even get me started on her thoughts on that subject! She just got done making 25 baby quilts and about a dozen afghans to donate to the hospital. The nurses give them to needy families. She has gotten names from a tree to give gifts for needy families. She has made a tree skirt for everyone of my cousins kids who have recently married (remember I have 20 aunts & uncles from both sides before they were married which makes for lots & lots of cousins) as well as baby quilts or afghans for their babies. Lots of my family are considered "needy" families. However, when you broach the subject of volunteering at a school or church or anywhere, she goes off on me. It is ridiculous. She needs to get out with people but I don't know how to get her to do that.

Vicki - I'm sorry about what you are going through with your mom. I don't have any advice.

Have you and Chuck made any definite travel plans yet?

My mother is driving me nuts. She is turning into my grandmother and I don't like it or know what to do. She never seems to have anything good to say. She is definitely a half full type of person any more. She is one of the most giving, caring people I know but no one gets to see that side of her anymore. It is very sad for me. I don't want to spend any time with her because I hear the same negative stories over & over!

I am so sorry, Vicki. My mother did the same thing so I know what you are going through.

I am getting my Christmas card list together. Would you all mind PMing me your names and updated addresses? I promise not to post them anywhere. Thanks!

Welcome to December traveling. You have to pack for everything, which doesn't bode well for 'carryons only'.

Yes, I noticed that. DH was talking about checking a bag.

Elin, your nails are very pretty! I don't keep my fingers manicured at all, and I only keep my toes done in the summer. If I thought I could go get a cheap-o $15 manicure and have it still look good by Thursday I would do it.

Vicki, well, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe get on the computer and go through the different opportunities in your mom's area to see if there might be something unique she would be interested in. With such vast choices (elderly, homeless, children, pets, pets who are elderly and homeless) there might be something out there for her that you just haven't thought of. Or maybe she just needs to be left to sort it out on her own. :confused3

Our definite travel plans are to wait until February. A December trip was a nice dream but it just isn't going to happen. We don't feel it is cost-effective.

I'm leaving her to sort it out on her own. I just don't want her complaining to me in the mean time. That's the problem.

Vicki,
My kids have the Wii. It comes with the console, a controller, & a game called Wii Sport. You would need at least another controller so you & Chuck could play together. 1 or 2 more games too. Some fun ones are Wii carnival, mini golf, & of course Toy Story Mania. Dana & I play with the kids & it is a lot of fun.

Vicki-I am sorry you are having trouble with your mom. Have you told her that you've heard that story before and don't need to hear it again? I find that if I do that most people stop repeating the stories.

I am so exhausted....physically and emotionally. I actually nearly fell asleep on my feet at ARC (another succesful day....though I don't know how 8+ pairs of the same size jeans can only yield one pair that fit:confused3)

I'm wearing a pair and bringing a pair and a pair of chinos and I'm going for 8 days.....

We had a good night or at least I think so. Hunter and I went to bed at 10 PM and didn't get up until 10 AM. I woke up a few times and he was fine, I got up a 7 and gave him his meds. I guess the Ativan worked for me since I actually slept. I started my Prozac today and it seems to be going okay. I haven't had any anxiety attacks, but then again I've kept busy enough that I haven't had time to think. We've started operation deep clean. The plan is to have every nook and cranny of this house cleaned before his surgery. I don't want any chance of him getting an infection when he comes home. I cleaned Hunter's room last week thoroughly. Today we got the main bathroom done, top to bottom including the closet. My Mom helped Nick get his totally done. I also got the bathroom decorated for Christmas. It may not feel like Christmas, but we need to keep things as normal as possible for Hunter.
:hug:Glad you both had a good night and the meds seem to be working for you. I'm not suprised to hear you're keeping yourself busy.

Or someone who needs 8 changes of clothes for a 3 night trip.;)

Emma is sick. She got a fever last Sunday. Seemed to be pretty well over it Wednesday but now the fever is back (101.5 so not crazy high) and she can't stop coughing. We gave her cough medicine last night and it seemed to help and she slept well but we've tried giving it to her twice today and it doesn't seem to do anything for her.

I got all the Christmas decorations out today. Got the Christmas photos out-the kids love to see those! Got the nativity set up and my Santas out. Hopefully DH will feel up to putting up the tree tomorrow but I'm pretty sure we'll be at the doctor with Emma and I have to go to work too so I don't know if that will happen. I promised Emma we would put it up before I went away.

I still haven't pack or made backups of my photos so I can reformat my memory cards or charged batteries.....

I did do the book for my mother in law-but didn't order it yet-I need to order a few prints too and should do some Chrismas cards......

Good evening everyone.

Just hanging out on the computer for a little bit and enjoying the finally quiet household. Also sitting here hoping that the rumblings in my tummy are just a temporary thing and not an oncoming attack of diverticulitis. :scared: I don't want to have to shell out money for the doctor again already.

It looks like maybe we will need to though for the dog. :( She's got a lump on her belly that looks like maybe a blocked and infected milk duct or something. She's also been yelping more when Terra pets or holds her like there is serious pain involved. When I touch the lump she doesn't react so I'm not sure if the two things are related or not. She's an 11yo chihuaha who also seems to have cataracts starting. Poor thing. I think Rachel is scared that there is something really wrong, not to mention Kristi and Erin.
