So when you go to a carnival what are your favorite games? Also what type of prize entices you to play a game? What are your kids favorite carnival games? What type of prize makes your kids want to play a carnival game?

Our Relay theme this year is Hope Carnival and I am trying to decide what game or games for our team to run.

Thanks!

This is a really stupid one, but my kids love it, and it guarantees a lot of winners. Fill a wading pool with water, get TONS of rubber duckies, and color dots on the bottom of about 2/3 of them. Float the ducks in the pool and have the kids pick a duck. If there's a dot on the bottom they get a prize. There's no skill involved, but you get a lot of happy kids.

DH refuses to get any sort of flu shot. Last week he went to pick up DS's prescription from the Dr's office. He said it was PACKED in there. Had I thought about it I would have had them mail the paper to us so DH wouldn't have been exposed to all of those sick kids. I am sure DH will come down with something shortly, and he will give it to DS and me.

Chuck also refuses to get a shot. I will be getting one at work.

Theresa I'm sorry to about the job. We were praying for you here too

My day has been horrid. First the Front Desk person didn't show up at work so I had to cover the desk...again. And I got to call someone in at 5AM and he was not expecting the call :headache: I came home after work and within 15 minutes the phone rang. It was the school. Hunter was hurt and they were calling the Ambulance :scared1: Needless to say I broke a few laws getting to school and I almost got there before the Ambulance. He was playing soccer in PE class and he and another boy both went for the ball. Hunter ended up being tripped and he landed on his shoulder. Turns out he broke the clavical. This apparently will heal on its own, but it is very painful for him to move at all at this point. We are now home and he is proped up on the couch with lots of pillows, Tylenol, Advil and Codeine. Tonight should be interesting to say the least. I'm thankful that I was able to get to the school to calm him down, help backboard him and accompany him in the ambulance. Chris met us there.

Nick and Colby were filled in by the nurse as we knew it would be all over the school, which it was. Colby ended up crying most of the day as he worried about his big brother. The teacher ended up calling my Mother to reassure him. Colby has not left Hunter's side since he got home

Poor Hunter (& Colby). I'm glad it was nothing more serious - though I'm sure Hunter is thinking it couldn't be any worse!

Oh no Poor Hunter,:wizard: that he heals fast.

Theresa - I am so sorry...

Deb - poor Hunter! :( I hope he gets some sleep tonight and heals quickly.

Heidi - :yay: for blue pills!

Good morning. :)

Deb - how was Hunter during the night?

Hope everybody feels better soon!

Deb, I hope Hunter is not in too much pain.

Theresa, I am sorry the job didn't pan out.

:wizard: and :grouphug: all around!

I've been praying that also...but it wasn't meant to be...I got the thanks but no thanks message this afternoon after I spent a useless 6 hours out of the house and to come to that and Jim here when he shouldn't be...just threw me over the edge.

Oh no -- I'm so sorry.

Deb -- I hope you were able to keep him comfortable and get some sleep yourself. I feel his pain! You might try putting pillows behind that shoulder to prop him towards his other side. That helped right after I had my surgery.

Gary went straight to bed when he got home from work. Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow.

I hope he's feeling better.

Oh, my goodness! Poor Hunter! How did he do in the night? I would be afraid of tossing and turning onto it.

I love that your sons are all so close! You done good, mom!

Thanks for all the well wishes. Hunter slept well last night, me not so much. Of course I was worried about him and I set my alarm to keep his meds on schedule. I'm sure we'll both take a nap later, but I'm relieved that he seems to be doing better than I had expected. Our goal is to try to cut him back to just Tylenol and Advil this afternoon. We want to eliminate the codeine as soon as we can and he is onboard with it :thumbsup2 I'll probably give him a codeine at bedtime though just to keep him comfortable. We all move at night and that would be oh so painful for him. I'm amazed at how well he is able to get up now, yesterday it was a very long process for him to even sit up. I think it may have been more fear then anything, but he seems to have figured out what moves he can make and what to avoid.

I'm not sure how we will deal with school. The kids are always carrying books and backpacks and that isn't going to be possible for a while. Maybe his teacher can give him a helper?

Janet I hope that Gary is better today.

I hope that all of the ailing DDA are feeling better :wizard::wizard:Debbie are you still on lockdown?;)

Theresa have the ornament exchange names gone out yet? I know that I signed all 5 of us up and I got an email from Disneyshopping with the new ornaments and it reminded me of our exchange :goodvibes

I got an email from Tim Foster of Celebrations Magazine this morning. Our photos will be printed in the next issue :cool1: I'm very excited. Hunter said "of course they're going to print them your the best costume maker" :lmao::goodvibes I told him that he doesn't have to suck up, I'll still take care of him:rotfl:

Well,we're back from dad's and we had a really nice visit. My sister and her family were there as well, so that was fun for everyone! We saw 3 great shows (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged, Tuesdays with Maury, and The Woman in Black), met up with some dear friends from college, and did some major clothes shopping with Grandpa! Katie is now outfitted for the rest of the year!

We also spent some time looking at ancient Indian rock art, and the kids found a giant rattlesnake skin. It came home with us (yuck!). Katie also found an arrowhead, and some pottery shards. We left those where they were, after taking pictures, since it's against the law to bring them home. The twins were sad that they didn't find anything really cool, so they had to hunt until they found some old deer and rabbit bones. I'm happy to say that those didn't make it back to our house!

The only downside to the weekend, was the gastrointestinal bug that swept through most everyone! It was nasty!!! I felt fortunate that the twins and I didn't come down with it. However, yesterday, Mary was down, and I got it late yesterday afternoon. I'm still feeling a bit icky, but at least I was able to get out of bed.

I'll be able to take it kind of easy today, after I run a few errands. Then I'll rest until Katie's orchestra concert tonight at 7:00.

Theresa - I'm so sorry about the job. I know how much you wanted this one!

Jen - Sorry I missed your birthday, but it sounds like it was great!

Becky - Nice wedding pictures. You looked gorgeous!

All the Disney trips sound like they are coming together! I'm so happy for y'all!

Take care today, and make it a great one!

Isn't it amazing how resilient our kids are?

I'm sure a friend of his can help him during school. When I was in college I broke my ankle. I was so concerned about having to hobble around on crutches all over campus. I was still living in the dorm at the time and the biggest hurdle for me was meal time in the cafeteria. I always had to make sure to eat with a friend so they could carry my tray for me! :rotfl:

Here's a blanket of :wizard: for all of you feeling under the weather. And an extra dose :wizard: for those with upcoming trips!

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am sorry to hear that so many are still sick. :( And it is still October! I fear for what "real" winter will bring.

We had a frost last night.
