Beth, good for you splitting the responsibilities up. Stick to your guns! And I played French Horn through college. Hopefully, Miles will love playing an instrument.

Thanks, Denise! I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. Just a simple "I've done the September newsletter, you can do the October one" type of thing.

Yes she does. Here, as long as you have a note from your doctor sent to the nurse, along with the meds., the nurse will administer the meds (prescription or OTC). The meds are kept in the nurse's office, ahem, CLINIC, as it is now called. So if one of my kids has a headache, they can go to her and she will give them a motrin and let them lie down for awhile.

I know that our school nurses will administer OTC meds (in the original bottle and with a note from the dr on a prescription pad), but I think that it has to be for a specific period of time, not as needed. I've never really looked into it, since mine don't usually need anything.

I brought a bottle (opened) of Advil into the nurse with a note that I wrote allowing her to dispense it to the boys. No problemo.

Riley is able to keep a bottle of ibuprofen in his locker & can take as needed. I did sign a consent form for this & all he has to do is go to the office & tell them that he needs to get one from his locker.

Wow! That would be the best. Laura has been known to occasionally have it in her athletic bag, but heaven help us if that was ever found out. There are some months that she needs it.

Well. That was annoying. I gave the nurse the bottle of Motrin and the permission forms. She accepted everything without even batting an eye. I was all geared up for a battle. What a let-down.

I was kinda hoping for a fun story about it ;) Glad it worked out!

Miles can choose a band instrument this year. I was pushing for either the trumpet or the flute, since we already own each of those. He said, "I don't like to blow into things." :rotfl: So, should I push him towards percussion or just let him not take a band instrument? He already plays (and will continue to play) the viola for the orchestra. None of my kids seem to have any sort of "gift" for music, so he probably won't go too far in band. In some ways it seems like he should at least try. But if you think it's really bad, I'll let him out of it. ;)

If he enjoys the one instrument, let him play that. If he is done with it, he gave it his all and he is done........

It may not be over yet, she may give your kids a hard time if they need it.

OMG all I have to do is make it through work today:woohoo::woohoo:. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

And I've decided, that I can't be laptop-less for 9 days so she goes with me!! I'll just lug her through the MCO airport. My local airport going down will be a snap. But 9 days with no computer, trying to see everything on the iPhone is just nuts.

I go to Disney tomorrow!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::dance3::dance3::banana:

YAY!!! :dance3: Have a FABULOUS trip!!

So we met all of DS's teachers. He is going to be toast in Algebra. I told him to just stay there for the first 6 weeks, then we'll move him. I think the other classes will be OK.

In English he is going to read "Big Fish". I LOVED the movie (go figure) so I want to read the book now. They might read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Glass Menagerie". One of the scenes from his theater camp was from Menagerie but it wasn't his scene. I have never read either of those books. Guess I should go buy all 3 and read them. Then we can discuss. If DS is good maybe I will rent Big Fish so we can compare the book to the movie. ;)

In Theater she said the high school is doing Beauty & the Beast and our kids can audition if they want, but practice starts in like a week and will be a HUGE time commitmen, so he may not do that. The middle school play will be "Into the Woods" which I know nothing about. She said it's a musical. Hello? My kid can't sing. She said if nobody can sing it becomes a play. :rotfl:

Same parents we see all the time. We followed each other from room to room. It's a good group. Of course by the time we got to the electives there were only a handful of parents in those rooms, but overall I think it was a successful evening. The principal said we have 1066 kids. :scared1: I hope they get some more teachers in there because some of the classes have 30+ kids in them.

Guess what? Time to make my ADRs!! :yay:
