DDA Chapter 22

I don't know the family at all (I think!) but I would say it seems like it very possibly is an issue with the mother, not the son. Separation anxiety often is prompted by actions of the adults. If his is that severe, I would think it needs to be addressed by a professional. But I would hate to be the one to have to tell her that!

I am sorry that Nicholas' sleepover ended badly. :( But I also htink you handled it correctly! :thumbsup2

This is exactly what I was thinking as I was reading it last night. We have had similar cases at camp and it was the parents actions that were behind the issues.

Kristin's toe is not feeling too badly today. But she did take the painkillers again at my insistance. She can skip the next dose if she wishes, but I didn't want it to start hurting while we were out. We went out to do some shopping since she did not have appropriate footwear for this week. She did ask me to go get the car when we were done at the 4th store. (Finding flip flop/slides is difficult right now!) She has it propped up so the swelling will go down again. Thanks for all your good wishes. :goodvibes

I tore off my entire big toenail the morning of my freshmen orientation. I couldn't wear closed toe shoes for quite some time.

It is the morning we are going to leave. I have my glasses off, kneeling on the floor and leaning over the tub to wash my hair. I see a cute mouse run across the floor behind me. My initial thought is how cute. My second thought is "I have bare feet" so I jump up, over & into the tub which has a sliding glass door on it. I call my dad in to take care of the mouse. He comes in with a broom to try to hit it to knock it out. It keeps running back & forth and he keeps jumping up & down. I'm laughing at the site of this 6' + man afraid of a mouse until I look down into the tub and see a red puddle. I had to put my glasses on to see what had happened. I tore my nail completely off on the rails from the sliding glass door. I never had any painkillers or anything. Didn't even go see the doctor. My mom doctored it all up and I wore open toed shoes for several weeks. Luckily, it was early August.

Hi, everyone! We got back yesterday afternoon from a great visit with my dad! His play was very well received, and he got some great feedback from the actors and the audience that saw it. He's already working on some rewrites, and then he'll move on to the next step. There are a couple of theaters that are interested in producing it in a workshop setting, one in Las Vegas and one at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Both offers thrill dad to pieces! It was great to see him so passionate about this! I'm just so very proud of him!

Sounds like things are pretty wonky for some of you!

Robyn - I'm so sorry about Lucy! I hope that her injury heals well and quickly!

Elin - I'm so sorry about your daughter too (can't remember right now if it's Kristin or Kathrin). That injury just made me cringe!!!! Jacob dropped a wooden stool on my foot right after the twins were born, and broke 2 of my toes, so any foot injury just hurts my in sympathy!!!

Tammi - Sorry about Nicholas's fingers, too! I think you handled it well, though! Don't know if I could have done as well! As for the sleep over, I'm sorry that turned out to be a bust! You could start doing late nights with this boy and Nicholas. Maybe if he knows he's going home at a certain time, he'll start to loosen up about things, and you can extend the time a little bit each time.

Elizabeth - Congrats on getting C's schedule arranged (sort of). Hopefully next semester won't be as bad as it looks like it will.

Heidi - Congrats on making the news. I tell Alan that if he ever puts my picture on the tv, that will the deal breaker! No way!

Theresa - I'm so sorry about the dr.'s office. Have you looked into working at the school as a substitute? My SIL is doing that this year, and so far, has worked every single day. It's not a lot of money, but at least it's something.

Deb - Good luck on the first day of school tomorrow! Not to mention all your jobs. You are one majorly busy woman! Good thing you have such wonderful vacation memories to carry you through!

Well, I've started the classwork for the medical coding, and so far it's pretty interesting. Before I can take any of the coding classes, I have to pass a medical terminology class and an anatomy class. The terminology class is actually pretty fun! I love linguistics, so it's more like a puzzle for me to put together than homework. The anatomy class, however, is more difficult. Interesting, but difficult. I'm working through the assignments slowly, but getting things done. Luckily, so far, the kids are helping around the house, so I can study. My goal is to have these 2 classes done by November, so I can do the coding class in November and December, and be ready to start work in January. We'll see how that goes!

Talk about a busy lady :) I'm glad that your Dad's play was well received. It sounds like he has a lot on his horizon now. Good luck keeping up with the kids and your class.

I'm off to work for a couple of hours then I'll come home and Chris and I will take the boys to school. I'm sure Chris will have his work cut out for him, just getting them out of bed. I know that I didn't want to get up this morning and I only had the last 3 days of last week to throw off my schedule :headache: Oh well, getting back on a normal schedule will be good for us all in the long run, it's just that adjustment stage that stinks. Have a great day.

Becky - the shower looks absolutely amazing! The leftovers sound pretty yummy too!

Glynis - good luck with the medical coding.

Good morning. :)

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The boys went to school with no moaning or groaning :thumbsup2 I had intended to take pictures, but forgot my camera as I rushed home to pick them up. Colby was a bit apprehensive and asked me if I would stay all day with him (this was before we left home), but once he got a hug from his teacher and saw his friends he was all set to stay. Nick blew us off at the door and when we went in and introduced us to his advisor he gave us the eye roll and hung his head like he was embarassed. Oh well, he'll get over it. The advisor told the class the she likes to see parents come in ;) I knew he wouldn't want us around next year, but I thought we'd be okay this year. Why do they have to grow up so fast?:confused3

If your dad comes to Denver I so want to meet him!!

I can't substitute for a couple of reasons...the major one is that there are 3 schools schools that were closed last spring that were full of teachers who couldn't find positions so are now substituting.

The medical coding sounds kind of interesting. Glad you are having fun with it so far.
