DDA Chapter 22

Thanks. He's been here before so it's not a 'new' environment, but never to stay overnight. Nicholas was wanting to 'camp out' in the living room, but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm sure the boy will prefer to be upstairs where there are PEOPLE. I'll talk to mom and boy more tomorrow and find out more about the issue.

Nicholas is supposed to have his first football game tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that the rain holds off until about 5 or 6. They are playing on the high school field, of the team that won that state championship last year, so it is rather exciting for the boys. Plus, they've practiced so hard for 4 weeks and are really looking forward to the game.

No advice on the sleepover. With DH's schedule and our lack of space we don't have a lot of kids stay overnight.
I hope the football game goes well!! :wizard:

Well I was just dressed , ready and walking out the door--and we got the phone call that it was cancelled! So here we all are, awake and ready at 730 on a saturday morning!

Bummer! I hope you find something else to do today!

I had a nice time at the parents' meeting last night. The host family has an incredible home so there was plenty of room for everyone, food, drinks, lots of parents and teachers. The new principal was there. I chatted with her for a bit - she is planning a trip to WDW for her grandkids next June. Of course I offered my consulting services. ;) There were a lot of people I knew from the elementary school, but not many 8th grade parents. I think only about 5. But I met DS's English teacher and Art teacher. His friend's mom told me the History teacher was there but I missed her.

Today I am going to the VISIONS Women's Expo. It is basically a big trade show with all sorts of products & services targeted to women. Hopefully some of the other nannies will meet me there. :) I have been going for years. I usually don't really buy anything, I almost NEVER win anything, but it is a fun way to spend the day. Maybe I will see something fabulous for the new baby. It's a shame I am not 100% sure what her name is going to be.

Sorry your plans were canceled today, Jen!

Elizabeth - have fun at the expo.

Good morning. :)

I have been a busy girl this morning. After reading on the Fireworks Buffet thread about the conflict with DDP and booking that thing, I called back. I still could not get our first choice of dates, but I was able to book October 5 so I grabbed it.

I also booked 4 wine seminars and the Warren Brown/Mary Myers "Cake Love" culinary demnstration/wine presentation for myself. myBob won't go so these are just for me!

Good Morning DDA!!!

Today is the last official day of summer vacation for the boys. School starts Monday for them. It's supposed to be cool here so we probably won't go swimming, not sure what we will end up doing today. I do need to have the kids get all their supplies together and we need to figure out what I need to buy for snacks and lunch stuff. Where did the summer go?

Between our vacation and the fact that I should have time now...I'm planning on hitting the gym after work each day starting next week. My new year's resolution was to be in the best shape of my adult life before my 40th birthday and that is just a few weeks away now  Thankfully I've been eating well so I just need to add the exercise in now. I've got to admit that I do not enjoy excercise at all so this is going to be a huge challenge for me.

Thanks, Elizabeth. I am looking forward to the desserts, but mainly am looking forward to seeing Spectro (what we can) and Wishes with Bob. He never goes to see these because he hates standing around. This way he can sit and see as much or as little as he chooses to. :goodvibes Oh, yeah... and there is cake. ;)
:cool1::cool1::banana:

Good Morning

It's pouring here an it appears that it will for the entire day thanks to Danny. Oh well, the lawns were looking a bit brown. I need to take the boys out to pick out school snacks and pick up a few odds and ends for school. Chris is working this morning, but only until 1 PM. We had considered going to the Drive-In tonight, but I don't want to do that in the rain.

Yesterday I booked a night at the Great Escape Lodge. Chris wants to go to a car show in Lake George so the boys and I can hit the Great Escape and the indoor water park while he wanders around the show. I have a feeling that he'll end up spending less time at the show and more time with us, but that's just a hunch ;)

All the school supplies are packed up and ready to be dropped off at open house on Thursday.

What are your thoughts on an ADR at Rose & Crown @ 7:30 in January, with a request for an outdoor table for Illuminations? Will we freeze our tuckuses off??

Did anyone see Disney's earth? should I buy it Tuesday?

What a bummer that it was cancelled Jen

Good morning, DDA!

Elizabeth - Hope you enjoy the Expo and some other nannies get to join you.

Jen - So sorry your jump was cancelled. Lots of :wizard: that the rescheduling is on a good day for you.

We're headed to the bowling alley in a little bit. Brunswick is going some big bowling party to promote a new show or DVD or something that's about bowling. It's free and the kids get to bowl for two hours plus get shoe rental, pizza, ice cream and soda. Can't beat that! After that I've got to finish getting ready for my Scout parent meeting tomorrow evening and the other parent meeting I'm doing for a second troop (which I may end up leading) on Monday. At least the Mon meeting is just organizational so I don't have to do much for it.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Did anyone see Disney's earth? should I buy it Tuesday?

We saw it and liked it, but I don't know if I would buy it. I guess think of it like this...would you buy a DVD of a longer show on Discovery channel? I don't know if there's a lot of re-watchability to this one. You see it once, maybe twice, and have learned what they are teaching. Hope that helps!

Hi Ya'll. We were supposed to go to a baseball game last night. I came home from work just wiped out. I was tired, cranky, hot, sweaty, my back hurt so I was just plain miserable. I told Hal he could go and watch the game in the rain, I was not. He came home at about 9 cause they waited an hour to see if the rain would stop. We have tickets to try another night. Today we are meeting his brother whose name is Bob ( I am really glad I did not choose him on the blind date :lmao:) He is a sweetie but not my type!!!

We are having before the bus ride libations, then the bus ride to Philly and I guess a few hours of more libations and then we will see a 7:30 Phillies game. I do have my rain poncho just in case it does rain.

Thank goodness when we get home, we will just stay the night at Bob's and not try and drive home.:rotfl:

Everyone else have a great day!!!

I need to stop procrastinating and get to work. I stayed in Lansing this week-end so I could get caught up on stuff so that I can go home early next week and have a wonderful, relaxing extra long week-end with Chuck. I'm off now to try to get myself going. I think a shower first! Maybe that will give me some motivation!

Jen - sorry your jump was canceled. :(

Tia - hope bowling was fun!

Terry - I hope rain doesn't dampen your plans.

Just curious, did Mary Jo Kopeckne have all this pomp and circumstance during her funeral?

Elin-Congrats on your bookings!

Tammi-hope the sleepover goes well! On the Jan question-I FROZE watching Illuminations in January-it was in the 40's and we had been out all day-I had a very light weight rain jacket and denim shirt. Lizzy had a sweatshirt-she was freezing so I gave her my denim shirt. When we got back to the TTC and walked back to the Poly we could see our breath. BUT....I've also been in Dec/Jan when I never needed more than a T-even at 10pm.

Deb-your photos were great! Looks like a wonderful place!

Elizabeth-glad you got DS's schedule improved! Enjoy the tradeshow!

Tia-have fun bowling!

Jen-sorry about the skydiving!

Vicki-hope you find your groove today and get lots done so you can have a great long weekend next weekend!

Just curious, did Mary Jo Kopeckne have all this pomp and circumstance during her funeral?
She was creemated-Catholics never did that back then......:confused3

We made a decision with the car. We're picking it up at noon on Tuesday. If we got it Monday we'd have to pay excise tax for the entire month of August and I just can't give the state and extra $50.

DH is out getting Joe's matress today so hopefully he can sleep on that tonight. Hopefully there will be a lull in the rain so we can it in the house.

OK...off to go do laundry and I want to make Emma a dress for the first day of school.

When I was class mom for Katie a few years back we had a Halloween party. I was asked to have a game for them. I took peices of paper & drew a picture of a bat, a ghost, a witch, a spider, a pumpkin, etc on each paper. I then put one folded paper with the drawing (1 word/drawing per paper) & put it in a white balloon. Blew up the balloon & drew a ghost face on it. I made as many of these as we had kids. Each child would take a balloon & pop it any way they wanted which was half the fun. They then had to do a charade to get someone to guess what was on their paper in the balloon. The kids who guessed was next until all the balloons were popped & everyone had a chance to do a charade.

The kids loved this game & I got a cute thank you note from the class. :goodvibes

thanks AnneMarie that is a cute idea.

Vicki - Hope you were able to get some work done today. I've got a lot to get together for a meeting tomorrow night so I'm hoping to find my groove as well.

Bernadette - Glad you've got the car figured out. I hope the rain slows down for you soon.

We had a great time bowling! The kids loved it and Terra bowled 3 complete games, throwing at least 80% of the balls (pushing and using the ramp on the rest). I got to bowl almost 4 full games as well, which I wasn't expecting. Chase ended up not bowling much after the first 7 frames, plus the people next to us left with 45 minutes of the party left so I threw a full game over there too. I was actually doing really well today, which was nice. I'm sure whoever is producing the new show Bowlopolis (the theme of the party) paid for the parties, but the alley really went all out too. Give aways, buy a pin for charity, bowling pin character walking around, cosmic bowling, etc.

Now I've got to get working on this Scout stuff. I've got to find the line of acceptability between one of my co-leaders needs for hard-core, long-term plans and my need for flexibility and not fully planning out the whole year by meeting #1. Hopefully, I'll find it tonight and she'll be appeased.
