Smile for the day...

An old Italian lived alone in New Jersey . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work as the ground was hard.

His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love, Papa

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Pop,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love,
Vinnie

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.

That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Pop,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.

Love you,
Vinnie

Tammi,

I would go for your birthday for all the same reasons Elin mentioned. Low crowds & your birthday sound great!

I am seriously considering booking a WDW trip for over my bday. I'm not sure if it makes sense to do it though, because it would be short, but much less points. Here's where I stand......My bday is on Jan. 7, a Thursday this year, the week that the kids start back to school from Christmas break. So they would go back to school Mon, Tues and half a day Wed, then be out Thurs and Friday. We would leave late afternoon Wed and come back on Sun. This would also mean we miss our Christmas trip. So I'm torn whether to plan a November trip (21-27 over Tday), or April, over Alyssa's bday. Both of my kids have celebrated bdays there, now I want to. But just going in August and then back in November, I'm not so sure about. Plus, I MAY still go down for a long weekend in October, by myself, for the F&WF. What to do, what to do.

I think if you can swing it financially then by all means go :cool1:

I'm sorry about the contest. I'm sure that the kids are so disappointed

Elin have a great vacation. You gift is amazing. He is certainly a wonderful boy :goodvibes

I found out yesterday that Mickey mouse straws do not fare well in the dishwasher :lmao:

I bought them last year, I seen them at the checkout counter at the food court while at POR. Guess whenever we go again I will have to look for more :rolleyes1

Princess is having a good day so far! :)

Of course I completely forgot the housekeeper would be here. :headache: And as soon as I put Princess down for her nap the housekeeper went in her room and started vacuuming. WHY does she do that? I hate Mondays in the summer!

So the Band camp bus didn't show up until after 7:45 AM. The paper said 7:30. DS was mad that I sat there in the car until he actually got ON the bus. There were a fair number of kids who got on. They had 2 other schools to pick up, so I hope they all fit! One kid had a HUGE instrument case (must have been a tuba) that they ended up stuffing in through the back emergency door. I hope DS has fun today. And I hope he eats at least SOMETHING for lunch. And I hope he manages to get on the bus back to our school at the end of the day. Hopefully if he can't figure it out one of his friends will reel him in. This camp is offered to the entire district, middle and high school, so I imagine there will be a LOT of kids!

Have any of you ever eaten at a Longhorn Steakhouse? Their menu looks decent and we have one here in Fburg now. I have a few Darden Restaurants gift certificates that we will use over the next couple of months and we are not particularly fond of Olive Garden or Red Lobster. There is no Bahama Breeze near us, so that leaves Longhorn.

If you have eaten there, what are their prices like? I hate when there are no prices on a company's website. That seems like pure laziness on the part of their webmaster!

The prices are really decent and the food is good.

Elin - Longhorn used to be our staple steakhouse in this area...until service and food went downhill. I just think they started hiring people who didn't know how to cook...steaks were NEVER cooked the way we asked and then sides would come out cold. We ended up giving up there and going to Outback from now on. If you have gift certificates, I'd say use them! Just be prepared. (And this was from 4 different Longhorns in our area - not the same one - and service went downhill at all four.)

Thank you for saying what I wanted, but didn't quite know how.
I do understand that point of view but I feel I have to be somewhat understanding as he doesn't complain when I go several times a year without him. I know that I am the only one working but I still consider my income "our" income and he doesn't complain about me spending a large portion of that income on my Disney trips. I just don't have it in me to leave him at home for a "family vacation". BUT...if was OK with it and said to leave him at home I certainly would.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am officially ON VACATION! :yay:
:woohoo:

Good news!

No more emails or reminders from me! ;)

I was afraid the weekend would do us in.
:hug:Sorry! I tried to vote early this morning and noticed you weren't there.

Last night I was given the most amazing gift from Patrick. I am still speechless and so very appreciative. His mom told me he picked it out himself and went and got it too.... After 12 years this young man knows me quite well. His note said that a Journey pendant was the perfect gift. :goodvibes

Sorry that the quality of the picture is less than optimal. I took it with my cell phone and had a tough time focusing on the pendant.

WOW!

Here are some pictures from this weekend. :)

How fun! Did you enjoy Up?

Maybe they caught me dumping my cookies and revoting several times a day. ;)
I wondered if that would work.

Well, he fiddled around so long "looking" that someone else bought me one! :rotfl:
hmmmm.....I know someone that can fiddle around......still waiting for my Mother's Day gift. Hey maybe I should get that for him for Father's Day.

I would consider going in January for the lower crowds. Could the kids just miss all day Wednesday?

Could you make a no vacuuming sign for Princesses door? It could be a flip sign-OK to vacuum-no vacuuming allowed.

Hope DS makes it back home. Is camp everyday?

We've eaten there several times, our local one isn't up to par but we really enjoy the one in Mobile and Tallahassee. If you go I strongly suggest the Fire Chicken Wraps.

I say treat yourself to a birthday present.
Sorry about the contest.

Happy Birthday to Daniel!

Bernadette - She kind of does what she wants to do, even if I could make a sign that said NO VACUUMING in Spanish. She KNOWS Princess is going to sleep - it's not a mysterious process!
It would be delightful of DH to send you off to WDW in August with his blessing. :rolleyes1

DS made it home from camp in one piece!
He said they never stopped at any other schools to pick up more kids, so I am not sure what to make of that. Either there were SO MANY of them just from our middle & high school that the bus was full, OR those other 2 schools didn't have any kids who signed up for camp. :confused3 Whatever.

He said he had a turkey sandwich, a pickle, a cookie, and water for lunch. At least he ate something. I think he can survive 4 more days. ;)

He said he is in "concert" band, but out of the 4 he isn't sure if that is good or bad. I can tell from the absence of his really talented friends that his group is probably NOT that good. Which will hopefully help him see that being "the best" drummer at his middle school is not all that.

There is one particular trumpet player, who I know for a fact is NOT very good, in DS's same group. But also, there are high school kids who have MUCH more experience than DS (maybe 5 years against his 2), so I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed in him not placing into a "better" group.

Here's the ADR's IPO made for me for the trip that probably won't happen......

Wed 7/29-arrival day. 6:35pm Tony's-I figured we could maybe...hang out at Poly, have a drink in the lounge and then dinner at Tony's. I know it gets mixed reviews but we've never been so I thought it might be fun to try. AND....Emma LOVES Lady & the Tramp so I would have to make her an outfit.;) Then we could see Spectro-only Lizzy has any memory of seeing this. Get back to the Poly before Wishes-watch Wishes from the LV room.

Thu 7/30 3:30 Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic package. This was the only paackage we could get for our trip. I was surprised to get any. Emma & Gene have never seen Fantasmic!

Fri 7/31 1:00pm Biergarten-Gene & I went in 1994. I took Lizzy in 2002 but she slept through it. Gene likes buffets.

Sat 8/1-I didn't book anything in case Terry joins us. Don't know if she would because she has seasonal FL passes and they will still be blacked out. I also don't know when she might be coming to MA to see her Mom.

Sun 8/2 5:55pm California Grill. Gene has never been.

Mon 8/3 8:10am Crystal Palace-gotta love walking down an empty Main St.

Tue 8/4 11:10am 1900 Park Fare-this is an EMH morning at MK. I originally had this booked for Thu 7/30 but that was the only day we could do Fantasmic!.

SO....is the planning half the fun?

Hi, everyone! I'm back! I'm suffering post vacation exhaustion! I just can't seem to keep my eyes open today! I have a ton of laundry to do, but just can't get motivated!

Our trip was so wonderful! We had so many great things happen to us! I'm going to write up a trip report and I'll post it, if anyone's interested. I'm still charging the camera battery so I can upload pictures. That should happen tomorrow.

I don't have the stamina to go back a week's worth of posting. Anyone care to fill me in on the highlights?

Thanks. I hope you are all well, and happy! I'll send a general blanket of pixie dust to you all!

Welcome back! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Elizabeth,
Glad DS survived band camp!

Glynis,
Can't wait to hear about the trip.

Bernadette,
Well now you HAVE to go since you made ADR's!;)

Welcome home, Glynis! I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip!! :)

Bernadette, it would be a SHAME to let those ADRs go to waste. Really, you should keep working on DH. There must be something he would enjoy. Golf? Fishing? A tour? What does he enjoy doing? I am sure we can come up with something that would make him happy. Spa? Trail ride? If he doesn't even know which attractions are in which park then he can't possibly know what all there is to do. There MUST be things he would have fun doing.

DS would be MORE than happy to come swim with your kids at the Poly pool, and I would be more than happy to observe the kids swimming. I don't like to be IN the water, but I will watch. While enjoying a nice beverage. ;) I also have a friend in the Hawaii concierge building. I could introduce you to him.

Hi everyone, Having a ball here. Dinner tonight was great. Very light but fantastic.

This place will be our place from now on. Next year of course will be later since the grandkids will have school.

Hal is getting things ready for tomorrow when he makes dinner. It smells fantastic so i cannot wait.......

The restaurant is so slow. I really need to rethink my job situation at the end of the summer. It's beginning to not be worth my time to go in. Oh well, I'll stick it out until September just because the hours work for me.

I had my hair done today. She did a razor cut then blond highlights. I like it and so does Chris. Colby said I look awesome. Nick said I look weird and Hunter said that I look old, as old as Martha Stewart :headache: Hunter does not do well with change, especially changes in my hair :confused3

The prices are really decent and the food is good.

I am officially warned and "suggested". Thanks, you three!
