im in! good morning!

Good Morning DDA!

I am usually glad it is Friday, but work decided to spring a mandatory OT shift tonight. Blech!
So much for taking Leighanna to see Up! I guess we can go tomorrow night.
One more week until my "stay cation". I think I can make it!
We plan on having a mini DDA meet with a couple of Cincinnatians!(Is that even a word?:goodvibes) We can't wait!

Sorry to be MIA too! The summer holidays are always busy at the bakery, and by the time I get on to see what is up on the Dis, I am either too tired to reply, or forgot what I was going to say!

Hope all is well with everyone!

Good morning.

It's POURING here & in the 50's. Where is the summer?

TGIF to you all too!:goodvibes

After the craziness of today is over we have a relaxing weekend ahead (hopefully!:)) We have no plans other than to sleep

& eat popcorn:: & watch tv.:happytv:

Before I wrapped the gifts for my seniors I remembered to take a few photos. Since the pewter is "shiny" it made for some difficult focusing issues, but you will get the idea. These Jefferson Cups are a staple in Virginia as gifts for young men and groomsmen alike. It is likely they will receive more than one over the years and they often become collections.

I put my own touch on it so that it was a little more personal...

Each cup has the boy's initials on it:

Very nice gifts, Elin. I like the quote.

Elin - I would love to help you today, but DS gets out of school at noon. I actually need to go grab DH's car tag renewal, and return those too-tight shoes.

Tammi - Good luck with the contest! I have some felt, some paint, and some foam balls if any of those will help you. ;)

Tammi - Can you write it on your car with shoe polish or something? I saw lots of shoe polish signs int he school zone this morning. Mostly for graduating Seniors, but it would work for a radio contest.

Does anyone have any brilliant ideas that could win us this:

http://www.wfls.com/ManageFolder/TakeMeToTaylor

Make the sign with some of her songs and/or album titles over it (Cassidy says to make them into sentences/phrases)....I would also put a pic of Taylor above/below her name.

Make sure it's bright and colorful.....and there are smiling faces surrounding it!!

::yes:: Of your beautiful family, for sure!

Elin, I love the Jefferson Cups, especially given the tradition in the area! :goodvibes:

I'm glad most of you finally got some sun! It's been horribly sunny and humid here, I think I'd take cold rain just about now! ;) (I know, be careful what you wish for.....)

I uploaded some of our May pictures here, for those of you who might not catch them on the blog. There are some from various trips to The Little Gym, the museum, etc as well as some from around home. You can see we stay pretty busy! :teeth:

If anyone is in town on June 13th, consider yourself invited to the girls' bday party. I'm not sure anyone else will be there, though! :headache: I hate summer birthdays, and I fear it's only going to get worse as the girls get older. If only I could have had a bit more control over the timing, right?

Otherwise, nothing is really new here. We're looking forward to meeting Tom, Angie and Princess Leighanna soon, hopefully!

ETA: And if anyone is really looking for distraction or considers themselves an Elton John or Billy Joel fan, here are our pictures from the concert. They aren't great because I'm a total amateur with manual settings but hated all the programs in concert lighting... some are at least fun! :rotfl:

I just read a news report that the babysitter that burned Chris' great neice is being charged with assault. The article said that the baby suffered burns over more than 30% of her boby and was originally listed in critical condition. She has been upgraded to stable condition. Of course we didn't hear anything from Chris' family though :sad2:

I'm glad the baby is improving. What a terrible situation all around.

I agree Beth! You wrote a very concise, well-worded message.

Heidi, thanks for posting recipes. :)

I hope you are all well. Things are absolutely crazy here. Kevin just won a capital murder case and the sentencing (phase 2, as he calls it) begins tomorrow. Combine that with council and church stuff, and we've barely seen him this month. I'm running on empty, but everyone gets along better if we are out and about. Tonight, the guy at McDonalds asked if he could get me anything else, but then he couldn't accomodate my request for a little sanity. Sweet tea will have to do. ;)

Take care DDA!

Sorry things have been so crazy. I hope they slow down after sentencing.

I'm waiting for another load of laundry to finish washing, I'll get it into the the dryer and head to bed. Nick and Hunter's concert was tonight and it lasted 2 1/2 hours. I really wish they would do chorus and band on separate nights as it is just too late for all of us with little kids. Colby was 1 1/2 hours late for bed. Chris should have fun getting the boys up in the morning.

That is just too long, period. They really should split them up.

Hi DDA...

Sorry to be a bit MIA as of late. I've been reading along but real life is a bit upside down at the moment. And on top of that our GS troop camping trip is TOMORROW!!! I have been bogged down by that prep as well as getting our bridging ceremony planned. We were originally planning to bridge the end of June. But schedules got all crazy so we moved it up to Saturday night during the camp trip. Which has meant a lot of extra work in about a 4 week time frame. Not to mention having to double our dinner plans for Saturday night as the girls remaining family members have been invited. But it's all good and I am confident that we will have a fabulous time!!!

Sending out lots of :wizard:and 's to everyone. I'll check back when I can.

Sounds like a fun weekend. I hope you all enjoy it!

Everyone has their busy times, Tom. We're just glad to see everyone when they can get on. Enjoy your stay-cation! It's almost here.

It is finally sunny here :cool1:

Us too! Woohoo! Now if it will just stay that way instead of the hinting that it might rain afterall this weekend.

Thanks for all of the great ideas! How big do you think the sign should be? Like banner size or posterboard size? Elin, I already thought about doing the picture down at wfls, maybe in front of one of their vehicles or something. My kids are with their dad this weekend though! ARG!

If I enter, I'll be sure to post a link so you all could vote for us. ;)

Poster board size should be just right!! You can still see the words and the cute faces around it.

Good morning, DDA!!! Just a quick post before we head out the door for the park. Kristi's got extra kids today so we're taking them all to the park.
