Good Morning
tt3450-blue.gif

It's still raining cats and dogs here.

I ended up staying in bed until 10 AM :cool1: I was going to get up earlier, but I could hear the rain and decided that since I wasn't going outside today I might as well get some more zzzz's. I feel very rested now. The rest of my week should be a piece of cake.

Today's plans include laundry, cleaning my bedroom and bathroom, doing the budget and other lovely household chores. I know, you are all envious of my prestigious life :lmao::lmao: I guess I'd better get something done :wave2:

I think that you gave them perfectly reasonable rationale. Since they are not paying for the room, I don't see that they have any right to be concerned. If someone happened to have say a grandparent living in Gainesville, I would think they would want to stay with the Grandparent :confused3 What would they do then. Whoever is planning this seems a bit controlling if you ask me.

That will be next year's situation. :rotfl: IF they make Nationals next year, I am pretty sure they will be in Buffalo. Since my parents are in that area, we will not be paying for a hotel room.

No answer yet, so I think it will all be ok.

I just got a message from Glynis-between computer issues and getting ready for the Disneyland trip she isn't getting on the computer for very long. She wanted you all to know she hasn't fallen off the face of the earth and we should "see" her after the 8th!!

My BIL won 10 free tickets to see Up tonight & asked if we wanted to go with him...of course Katie has a project that is due tomorrow that she didn't "know" about until today so we cannot go. :headache:

I just read a news report that the babysitter that burned Chris' great neice is being charged with assault. The article said that the baby suffered burns over more than 30% of her boby and was originally listed in critical condition. She has been upgraded to stable condition. Of course we didn't hear anything from Chris' family though :sad2:

Can't Katie stay home and do the project while you guys enjoy the show? :confused3

Bernadette - No, our APs expired August, 2008. We will have gone almost a year without valid passes.

So we have tentatively decided to put off US/IOA until next year. The problem is the 2 tickets I bought may expire.:headache: I called Universal, and they don't KNOW if the tickets expire. I have to FAX copies to them and then wait for them to contact me with an answer. :sad2: Talk about a huge pain in the butt.
OK...I see now. Good luck with the US tickets.

Morning DDA,

My laptop seems to be dead this morning, and though I didn't save much on it, I know I lost my recipes file. Thus, I started a new thread! :)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32022532#post32022532

If you get a chance, could you please post some of the great recipes we've shared with each other throughout the years?

I appreciate it! Hope you all have a great day!
:wizard:Good luck getting your recipes back!

I made Emma a shirt with that fabric. She LOVES it! I should have had her wear it this week-with a turtle neck under it as its so cold.

I just got a message from Glynis-between computer issues and getting ready for the Disneyland trip she isn't getting on the computer for very long. She wanted you all to know she hasn't fallen off the face of the earth and we should "see" her after the 8th!!
Thanks for the update! Hope she has a great trip!!!!

So why does everyone have to miss out?

So tragic. Do they think the babysitter did it on purpose? I would assume she's devistated too.

I don't know? She was certainly negligent at best. Before I read that article I expected she would face criminal negligence charges, I was surprised by assault.

Ah, Project Hell. Sorry to hear that. DS brought home some big packet about some project but he swears it is some extra thing, voluntary, no after school involved. There are 4 exam days of school left - that's it. I need to e-mail the Sceince teacher. I should do that now.

I am glad her condition is improving. I certainly hope that woman didn't injure the baby on purpose. :sad2:

Thanks for the advice about the hotel situation. This is what I ended up sending...did it sound ok? I haven't heard anything back yet.

I fully understand your reasons for wanting everyone at the same hotel. The days that we are in Gainesville for Nationals will be all about Nationals and the team. The only way that I can remotely justify the expense of this trip right now is to bring the family along and make it our vacation for the year. We don't usually even vacation yearly, so it may be our vacation for next year, too. I also cannot justify paying $160 for two rooms when we can get one room less than 2 miles away for $99.

This team goes above and beyond helping everyone and setting arrangements that are best for everyone. You all may have noticed that we are a bit more introverted/private. Laura will do much better if she has a little space and time away from everyone else even if that is just the 15 minutes before she falls asleep at night and the half hour it takes her to get ready in the morning. (You may have realized that when she tried to throw all of you out of our room in Connecticut :-)) We will plan to be available for all decking, team bonding, etc., but we will be going back to our own space to sleep. Your schedule is our schedule for those days, and we will be wherever you need us to be. We both have cell phones in case of changes to schedules, and the hotels are only 2 miles apart, so we can be there quickly.

That is perfect, very nice and direct. They cannot fault you for your choice.

OK. I faxed copies of my tickets to US/IOA. Now I am paranoid that they will scan the copy and somehow when we try to use the tickets it will show they have already been used.

I told DH I would rather just show up with the tickets next year and throw a tantrum if they told me the tickets were expired. But noooo. I faxed in the copies. So we shall see 1) how long it takes them to answer me and 2) what they say.

I agree Beth! You wrote a very concise, well-worded message.

Heidi, thanks for posting recipes. :)

I hope you are all well. Things are absolutely crazy here. Kevin just won a capital murder case and the sentencing (phase 2, as he calls it) begins tomorrow. Combine that with council and church stuff, and we've barely seen him this month. I'm running on empty, but everyone gets along better if we are out and about. Tonight, the guy at McDonalds asked if he could get me anything else, but then he couldn't accomodate my request for a little sanity. Sweet tea will have to do. ;)

Take care DDA!

It sounds like she should be charged with more than assault.

After school I picked the kids up and we went shopping. Nicholas has a bday party tomorrow night, so we went to Borders and got a GC. Alyssa had one to use so she got 2 American Girl books, one on Felicity and one about Samantha. I hope they aren't to 'above' her. Then we went to dinner at Friendly's and had yummy sundaes for dessert.

Deb how sad about the baby, glad to hear her condition is improving though

Amy sorry about the demise of your laptop, hope you get a lot of new recipes!

Anne Marie sorry you cannot all make it to the show.

Elizabeth I hope your US tickets do not expire :wizard:

Glynis hope you all have a wonderful time!

Vicki good luck with the apartment hunting!

Jen hope your mom is recovering well from surgery :wizard:

:wizard: & to all.

Can't Katie stay home and do the project while you guys enjoy the show? :confused3

So why does everyone have to miss out?

I couldn't leave her alone. She has the maturity of an 8 year old. She wants all the rights & priviledges of a grown up without any of the responsibilty.:headache: Daniel is more mature than her so I have to wait til he's older & he can babysit!:rotfl2:

Well the day/night is over!! It was alot better than I anticipated. My meetings went well, moms surgery went well and she is home and resting. I also got tickets for a free huge country show that happens here in June..There are about 7 acts that I know of and its at a place with indoor and outdoor seating. Tickets are free you just have to go to "ticket runs" from the radio station and you can get lawn seats (most people get these) or reserved seats (limited). I got reserved seats!! I was not goign to go unless i did get these but i ended up winning them in a raffle!

On that note, im headed to bed..i got up at 545 this morning and cleaned the entire house before work so it didnt drive my mom crazy while shes recovering...happy almost friday!

Tammi...

sent you a PM...sorry it took a while to answer you.

Papers are signed and I am set to move in on June 14. I am one building over from where I lived 11 years ago but they are 90 degree angles from each other. The back of my apartment would overlook the side of my old apartment (if it had a window). I'm happy with the decision.

It sounds like she should be charged with more than assault.

There was a report on the news tonight about it. Everyone involved feels that it was an accident. The police have to charge her as she caused a serious and life threating injury to someone under the age of 13, therefore the assault charge. She is in jail and bail has been set at $25000. I'm sure she has no means of getting the money. I'm not sure how someone accidently dumps scalding hot water on the head of a 4 month old or why the babysitter would even be bathing her :confused3 Apparently she was taking care of all 3 of neices children at the time and she loaded the baby into her car and drove her to the local hospital which in turn med evaced her to Boston.

I couldn't leave her alone. She has the maturity of an 8 year old. She wants all the rights & priviledges of a grown up without any of the responsibilty.:headache: Daniel is more mature than her so I have to wait til he's older & he can babysit!:rotfl2:

Oh no. I hope she matures quickly. My oldest 2 are very responsible, I even leave Colby with them for short periods of time. My DB calls Nick to babysit his kids from time to time now.
