im off to work....its going to be one of "those" days! I have 3, possibly four meetings...plus my mom is in surgery and its killing me that im not there...but there was no reasonable way to miss these meetings...at least its almost the weekdn :)

The Dr. visit went well today. He said he would NOT give an ADD diagnosis - he thinks it is cognitive impairment due to the ADEM. Now, having said that, he also said the ADD meds help with focus and that is obviously important, so DS should continue to take them as long as they help. He said DS lacks visual/spatial processing speed, which will impact his math ability. He came up with a list of things for his report that I can use to lobby for DS's 504 to be reinstated. And we aren't asking based on ADD, we are asking based on a neurologic "thing", something visible on an MRI that the school can not argue whether it exists. He will send us a full report in a couple of weeks.

It was REALLY good for DH to be there and hear about the findings, because so often he thinks DS is just being stubborn.

After the Dr. we went to the mall for some lunch. Stopped in the Disney Store and bought a few T's. Stopped at Marshall's and found the New Balance mules I wanted in chocolate brown! The problem is, they look stupid with footie socks and they are kind of rough to wear without socks. I must ponder this dilemma.

I'm glad that the doctor was able to give you something solid. I hope that your ds can work to compensate for his learning differences and that your dh will better understand that he isn't just stubborn.

I think I've made up my mind on the apartment. It is $479 a month with a month free this year. I lived in these apartments for 3 months when I first got the job with the state 11 years ago. I had to be in Lansing for 3 months for training purposes. Here's a link to the website with some info. What do you think?

Those look very nice.

Thanks for the advice about the hotel situation. This is what I ended up sending...did it sound ok? I haven't heard anything back yet.

I fully understand your reasons for wanting everyone at the same hotel. The days that we are in Gainesville for Nationals will be all about Nationals and the team. The only way that I can remotely justify the expense of this trip right now is to bring the family along and make it our vacation for the year. We don't usually even vacation yearly, so it may be our vacation for next year, too. I also cannot justify paying $160 for two rooms when we can get one room less than 2 miles away for $99.

This team goes above and beyond helping everyone and setting arrangements that are best for everyone. You all may have noticed that we are a bit more introverted/private. Laura will do much better if she has a little space and time away from everyone else even if that is just the 15 minutes before she falls asleep at night and the half hour it takes her to get ready in the morning. (You may have realized that when she tried to throw all of you out of our room in Connecticut :-)) We will plan to be available for all decking, team bonding, etc., but we will be going back to our own space to sleep. Your schedule is our schedule for those days, and we will be wherever you need us to be. We both have cell phones in case of changes to schedules, and the hotels are only 2 miles apart, so we can be there quickly.

Good morning, DDA!

Well, I wore those new shoes for maybe 15 minutes yesterday and they are too tight. They embossed the tops of my feet with the stitching and style number from the top of the shoe. So those will be going back to the store and I will be starting over. I guess this is a clear indiction that I should NOT buy any shoes online.

Today is DS's last full school day! Tomorrow they start exams so he will have early dismissal.

Beth, I think you are smart to stand your ground. If the competition was being held locally the girls would all go back to their own houses at night, so this really is NOT a big deal.

Thanks, Elizabeth! I never even thought of it that way, but you are right. Last year when Nationals were here, we were all at home. Our homes are farther apart than these two hotels. I will remember that if she doesn't give up.

It was a very bold move for me to stand my ground and send that e-mail. Maybe I am growing up.

I am sorry about the shoes not fitting well. I don't think I could ever buy shoes on-line. My feet are just too weird.

Not sure if you all knew this, but people on the DVC forum are reporting that those 10% AP coupons can be used to get an extra 10% off the DVC price of APs! They must be purchased in person and the offer is only good through 7/31. Which SUCKS for me, since we arrive 8/1!

Good morning, DDA!

Beth - I think your email sounds great. Very diplomatic yet holds your ground and reinforces your commitment to the team.

Elizabeth - Sorry about the shoes. :(

Deb - Hope Hunter's tiredness improves.

Not too much on tap for us today. The girls have dress rehersal for their recital this afternoon. Until then we're just hanging out at home during another rainy day. We might actually have some dry days coming soon so that will be nice.

:thumbsup2Sounds perfect-very reasonable.

Wouldn't you be renewing your AP's? The offer is only good on new purchases.

Bernadette - No, our APs expired August, 2008. We will have gone almost a year without valid passes.

So we have tentatively decided to put off US/IOA until next year. The problem is the 2 tickets I bought may expire.:headache: I called Universal, and they don't KNOW if the tickets expire. I have to FAX copies to them and then wait for them to contact me with an answer. :sad2: Talk about a huge pain in the butt.

Jen - I hope your day today isn't too bad. Lots of :wizard: for your mom.

I think that you gave them perfectly reasonable rationale. Since they are not paying for the room, I don't see that they have any right to be concerned. If someone happened to have say a grandparent living in Gainesville, I would think they would want to stay with the Grandparent :confused3 What would they do then. Whoever is planning this seems a bit controlling if you ask me.

Morning DDA,

My laptop seems to be dead this morning, and though I didn't save much on it, I know I lost my recipes file. Thus, I started a new thread! :)

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=32022532#post32022532

If you get a chance, could you please post some of the great recipes we've shared with each other throughout the years?

I appreciate it! Hope you all have a great day!
