Beth-i agree with everyone else, you should get the same pay.

Today is HOT here in jersey--i was by the pool for a bit but it just got too hot..so now im in the AC :)

I need a little input. Our preschool currently has a full class of 3-year olds and 5 more on the waiting list. I suggested running a half class with 5-7 and one teacher (me) at the same time their are two additional teachers in the building teaching a very small 4-year old class. The building is tiny, so we'd be very close in case one of them needed to float over to my class for a while. The director is interested in discussing this plan. The church is cheap, and I know that the first concern is going to be money. As long as the tuitions can cover it, do you think that I am justified in expecting the same pay that I get for co-teaching a full-size class of 12-14? If we were going to run a second full class, I am sure that we'd both expect to make the same amount of money.

To me it should not matter the size of the class, teaching is teaching & you should get paid the same.

I got this in an email and wondered who was reading my mind? :lmao:

Forgetter Be Forgotten
My forgetter's getting better,
But my rememberer is broke
To you that may seem funny
But, to me, that is no joke

For when I'm 'here' I'm wondering
If I really should be 'there'
And, when I try to think it through,
I haven't got a prayer!

Oft times I walk into a room,
Say 'what am I here for?'
I wrack my brain, but all in vain!
A zero, is my score.

At times I put something away
Where it is safe, but, Gee!
The person it is safest from
Is, generally, me!

When shopping I may see someone,
Say 'Hi' and have a chat,
Then, when the person walks away
I ask myself, 'who the HECK was that?'

Yes, my forgetter's getting better
While my rememberer is broke,
And it's driving me plumb crazy
And that just ain't no joke.

Sounds like me :rotfl:

Yes she is doing good. She had a stomach virus thing going on for two days with a fever, but she is back at work and looking okay. We will go out for lunch and I can get all the good details!!!

Glad she is feeling better, tell Stephanie hello for me!

We are going to see Harry Potter tonight! :teeth: And dinner will be at the new Irish Pub here in town. :yay: (Based on Tammi's recommendation :thumbsup2 )

Oh let me know how you like it, I really want to see this one!

I'm not sure whether my July 1973, wedding counts as "back then" or maybe I was a trendsetter! But my bridesmaids wore peach too.

My bridesmaids wore peach and teal.....I was a re-trend setter. :lmao:

Thanks for all the input! I also think that I should get my regular pay, but it's nice to go into the meeting knowing that I'm not the crazy one. I had a problem last year with the Two's Time class and them not wanting to pay me (and I thought I was actually being more than fair). If they can't afford to run the class and pay me, then I guess the class should not be held. I do love the kids and the job, but it's still not something that I would choose to do for no or less pay.

We bought some of Matthew's dorm room stuff today. His choice of comforter made me laugh a little. I'll see if I can find it online.

I think that I am going to take Miles and Laura to Harry Potter tomorrow. Matthew and dh said that they'll just wait until it comes out on DVD. Matthew has a dentist appointment tomorrow, but it's at 8:20 am, so we'll have pretty much the whole day free.

Beth - I know they are going to try to spin the tuition thing against you. I would just make sure you anticipate the arguments and be ready to block them. I would also be ready to walk away if they try to cheat you out of a fair salary. The number of children does not decrease the time you will spend on prep, in the classroom, etc. Same number of hours, even if it is fewer children in the room.
I know when DS was in private school they had issues with a class on the elementary side being too small to cover the teacher's salary. They ran in the red for one year, then didn't offer that highest grade level the following year.

Uncle1 wants to take his mom to WDW next year. He wants me to plan it for them. Um, no. I told him to get a travel agent. No, Chanon, I did not give him your number. ;)

Thanks, Elizabeth. The meeting is Tuesday, so I'm trying to prepare now. I will try to think of all the scenarios and have my responses ready. I'm also going to run the numbers, because sometimes I'm not sure that they can do that competently. If it works, I'll be thrilled to be getting some more money. If it doesn't, I'll be looking for somewhere to put in some more hours.

I found the bedding and even downloaded the photos, but photobucket isn't coming up for me. It's Disney Safari Quest...just the comforter. He picked plain green sheets to go with it.

Photobucket is working for me now...
It's reversible

My bridesmaids wore light blue. When I look at those photos now, I wonder what on earth I was thinking. Same with my wedding dress. "It was acceptable in the 80's..."

Thank you Elizabeth. :teeth:

For those of you following my car repair post from Facebook, I ended up with a broken spring (coil?) and it ruined the sway bar. (I think. I don't know car terms so if Chris is reading this it probably makes some sort of sense to him...) Spring/coil was so bad that it could have punctured my tire and blown while driving. Car should not have been drivable. Ended up costing $600 after an initial quote of $450. So did not need that today.

Elin - come find me after you see HP. I need someone to talk to about it! :teeth: There were parts I liked, loved and didn't like too much.

Dinner tonight is at my Great Aunt's house - pork and cabbage and dumplings - yum! And I have pick up my car...I think I'll be running slightly late but there should be food left by the time I get there.

remember that friend I reconnected with last week? Mom to Cassidy's first best friend...Andy?

She just IM'ed me that his 1st sergeant was killed Monday and he was "slightly" hurt in an ambush.

These boys were my boys for 6 years and it's like some one hit me in the gut when Sam said that. Sam had no clue how to parent properly so I ended up co-parenting Andy.

Did anybody else see the editorial on CBS's Sunday Morning??? It made me cry and get mad because of all of the coverage that MJ is still getting and our soldiers fighting in 2 wars get nothing.

Tammi when you get back from your trip, you will have to tell me all about BLT.

Sorry to hear this Chanon!

Theresa - I hope that Andy's doing okay. :grouphug:

Chanon - Sorry about the car cost, but really glad that you found the problem before the worst happened.
