DDA chapter 21

Chris and I are thinking of taking a trip in August. My 40th is in September, but that doesn't work well with the kids in school and getting my parents to babysit. They can do it until mid August. I've looked at cruises and all inclusive resorts. We are hoping to keep the budget around $1000. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Terry, Tammi, Elin or anyone???

Any suggestions on where to stay in the Outer Banks? Looking to do a quick weekend trip...thanks

Since my daughter did the booking, I am probably not much help. The realtor they dealt with was Joe Lamb, Elin is probably the pro in this area.

Anne Marie -- You would need to stay in a motel and many of them have a 3-night minimum. Get one that is oceanfront and then ask me names. There are a gazillion from Kitty Hawk-Kill Devil Hills-Nags Head. I assume that is where you are intending to go!

Deb,
Not sure for how long you want to go but Mohonk Mountain House in Armonk NY is a wonderful getaway for couples. Not sure if you want to drive that far but Dana has been there for business & we have always been meaning to go just us.

I would also think any little bed & breakfast where you two can feel pampered & like a couple would be a great escape.

I found this link to AirTran $25 vouchers...

AirTran $25 Vouchers

It's a deal AirTran has with the Florida Tourism Board and the vouchers are good for travel to Florida up to December 18th.

I am still looking at what towns/beaches to go to. Dana wants to go this weekend??? I would love to, so far I have found Wrightsville Beach which is closer to me that the others...there is some availablity but I have never put together an overnighter in 1 day!:lmao:

Thanks!!!!

I would stay in KDH, KH or Nags Head... not Duck or Sanderling because they are way north.

There are a few real estate companies that do short term rentals but they are few and far between. And the cost of a condo for a weekend would be more than that of a motel. Our first trip to the Outer Banks was at a motel and it was a great way to learn the area.

OH! OK... that is a totally different area. Further south. Let me look into that area.

Nope. I don't go to the Outer Banks. But that is where Elin and Terry go. I'm sure they can help. Have fun!

Anne Marie - That is not the Outer Banks, per se... but there are good beaches there. I know nothing about the area except that other people like it.

Thanks for the vouchers Elin. Don't know if I'll use them, but I've got them now.

Have you found a national chain oceanfront place in Wrightsville Beach? If so, and if it is closer I would go with it since none of us knows anything about the area.

Well, I am finally on my way to having a computer back up of some kind at least. I really want to figure out a free/cheap way to have it back up automatically on a regular basis. Vista has one built in, but it saves it as (compressed) "back up folder 1, 2, 3,....513" and I can't see everything to assure myself it's there.

Really, though, i'm too tired to figure it out right now. I got caught up "visiting" Terra's Webkinz room with her on the other computer and we stayed up longer than I anticipated. The trash truck's wake up call was a long time ago.

Night all!

Good morning, DDA!

Happy birthday, Elin!!

Elizabeth - Good luck today. I hope it does the trick and isn't too painful.

Debbie - Sounds like a nice plan for a trip. I hope that you can find somewhere nice.
