DDA chapter 21

Bob and I have spent the better part of the morning and a little of this afternoon crunching menus and numbers. I think we are going to keep our DDP add-on to our DVC reservation and supplement it with TIW for anything we want to add that is not included in the plan. Just strictly DDP ought to save us about $100 so it seems smart to use it that way.

One thing I did discover that I think is new: DDP has only ONE snack credit this year, not two. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the allowance of every foodstuff at the 2008 F&W Festival (with the exception of the $7 lobster roll). I imagine they felt it was too difficult to limit what you could get there but also realized they were losing money.

The deluxe dining plan? I'm still showing that it's two snack credits...
Table Service Restaurants
Full buffet & non-alcoholic beverage
OR
Appetizer, entree, non-alcoholic beverage & dessert (except at breakfast)

Quick Service Restaurants
One entrée OR one complete Combo Meal
One dessert (Lunch or Dinner) or one juice (Breakfast)
One single serving non-alcoholic beverage

Choose from:
- Frozen ice-cream novelty, popsicle or fruit bar

- One 20oz bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or Dansani water

- Medium fountain soft drink or apple juice

Terry - your bag is very colorfuland cute! It looks just like something you would buy. :goodvibes

That was some tall bride!

Thanks Elin!!! At first I thought it was the two cosmopolitans talking but I really like it!!! :lmao:

Yes she is very tall, but the hair makes her seem taller!!

Elin - I think the regular DDP has always been one credit, but the DxDDP is two. I know since we had DxDDP last year that now I get confused about the components of the other plans (like this morning!). :rotfl2:

TAMPA, Fla. – Billy Mays, the burly, bearded television pitchman whose boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean made him a pop-culture icon, has died. He was 50.

Tampa police said Mays was found unresponsive by his wife Sunday morning. A fire rescue crew pronounced him dead at 7:45 a.m.

There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play, said Lt. Brian Dugan of the Tampa Police Department, who wouldn't answer any more questions about how Mays' body was found because of the ongoing investigation. The coroner's office expects to have an autopsy done by Monday afternoon.

Mays' wife, Deborah Mays, told investigators that her husband had complained he didn't feel well before he went to bed some time after 10 p.m. Saturday night, Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.

"Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days," Deborah Mays said in a statement Sunday. "Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times."

U.S. Airways confirmed Sunday that Mays was among the passengers on a flight that made a rough landing on Saturday afternoon at Tampa International Airport, leaving debris on the runway after apparently blowing its front tires.

Tampa Bay's Fox television affiliate interviewed Mays after the incident.

"All of a sudden as we hit you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping," MyFox Tampa Bay quoted him as saying. "It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head."

McElroy said linking Mays' death to the rough landing Saturday afternoon would "purely be speculation." She said Mays' family members didn't report any health issues with the pitchman, but they said he was due to have hip replacement surgery in the coming weeks.

Born William Mays in McKees Rocks, Pa., on July 20, 1958, Mays developed his style demonstrating knives, mops and other "as seen on TV" gadgets on Atlantic City's boardwalk. For years he worked as a hired gun on the state fair and home show circuits, attracting crowds with his booming voice and genial manner.

After meeting Orange Glo International founder Max Appel at a home show in Pittsburgh in the mid-1990s, Mays was recruited to demonstrate the environmentally friendly line of cleaning products on the St. Petersburg-based Home Shopping Network.

Commercials and informercials followed, anchored by the high-energy Mays showing how it's done while tossing out kitschy phrases like, "Long live your laundry!"

Recently he's been seen on commercials for a wide variety of products and is featured on the reality TV show "Pitchmen" on the Discovery Channel, which follows Mays and Anthony Sullivan in their marketing jobs. He's also been seen in ESPN ads.

His ubiquitousness and thumbs-up, in-your-face pitches won Mays plenty of fans. People line up at his personal appearances for autographed color glossies, and strangers stop him in airports to chat about the products.

"I enjoy what I do," Mays told The Associated Press in a 2002 interview. "I think it shows."

Mays liked to tell the story of giving bottles of OxiClean to the 300 guests at his wedding, and doing his ad spiel ("powered by the air we breathe!") on the dance floor at the reception. Visitors to his house typically got bottles of cleaner and housekeeping tips.

As part of "Pitchmen," Mays and Sullivan showed viewers new gadgets such as the Impact Gel shoe insert; the Tool Band-it, a magnetized armband that holds tools; and the Soft Buns portable seat cushion.

"One of the things that we hope to do with 'Pitchmen' is to give people an appreciation of what we do," Mays told The Tampa Tribune in an interview in April. "I don't take on a product unless I believe in it. I use everything that I sell."

Discovery Channel spokeswoman Elizabeth Hillman released a statement Sunday extending sympathy to the Mays family.

"Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth," Hillman's statement said. "Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend."

I had just read about this before reading here. It is so sad. It seems that celebrities are dropping like flies

I'm making progress on post trip work. The grocery shopping it done and there were lots of good manager's specials that kept our bill down :cool1: I also have made great progress on the laundry too, I think I have just a couple of loads of blankets.

Hi all!

Sorry I haven't been posting much-been in a funk. Still haven't canceled the Poly reservation but it isn't looking too likely that we will go. I told DH early in the week that the Jet Blue flight was down to $79 one way. He just asked me when we were going to the Cape for 2 nights with his family and told me what a great time the kids would have there.:headache:

I told him how much he hurt me by ignoring Mother's Day so he tried to blame me-I'm too picky-too hard to buy for. I told him he couldn't blame for him choosing to hurt me rather than feel uncomfortable making any decision. I told him I was hurt that he was teaching our children that I'm not worthy of recognition. He did listen but hasn't appologized. I would have liked to do nothing for Father's Day but I couldn't teach my kids that that was OK.

I did finally add up my reciepts from my May trip with Joe. I paid about $350 for the DDP for 7 nights for Joe & I. I got just over $500 in food. Of course I never would have spent $115 on a dinner for the two of us BUT...that was the best meal of the trip. I also wouldn't have spent $40 on lunch at Chef de France BUT....we love seeing Remy. We ate were we had already planned so I did not try to maximize the value of the credits. It was also way too hot (for May) to eat too much. We had lots of extra snack & CS credits that I used for snacks that we could bring home.

Elin-I found Main St Bakery was a really good use of CS credits-they let you get 4 items on one CS credit so you could get say 2 pastries and 2 drinks.

OH...and we love Sci Fi. We really enjoy the atmosphere. It is nice to go in there where it is night on a hot day. I will say in May it was way too cold in there though. I usually get a burger but in May I got ribs (I was using DDP as my friend had paid for CP). They were good. Dorinda usually gets a chicken ceasar salad and likes it.

Bernadette - I was wondering how your plans were coming along. I am sorry to hear that DH isn't cooperating. :guilty: I hope you are able to work something out. :wizard:

It's listed on Facebook for today.

Which reminds me....

Hope you have a wonderful day, Debbie!

Happy Birthday Debbie

scraplifting, thanks Elin.

We've been twice, about a decade apart. It's one of those been there, done that places. The food is mediocre and it totally makes a difference as to where you are seated for the atmosphere.

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes, we spent the weekend at a local Casino hotel, our daughters, and the grandchildren joined us at various times. I really enjoyed it even though we are really bad at gambling.

It's going to be really hectic around here next week, I have to plan a cookout for work, and help with the inlaws 50th anniversary party.

Loved the pictures Tammi and Terri

So what are the anticipate dates for your 2010 Disney trip? We are trying to structure our vacation plans.

Elin there are 2 snack credits with the QSDDP.

::yes:: I see that, Heidi, thanks. I thought that might have been the winner for the QSDP but we like our sit-downs each evening, so DDP it will be. We will still save money which is what it is all about!

Bernadette - I have tried quoting you twice to no avail on here tonight so I will just say: I am sorry your DH is being such a numbskull! Why the heck do they do those kinds of things?!?!? I have one just like him. :(

Also, thanks for the tips on the DDP. I had forgotten about Main St. Bakery for breakfast. Perfect!

Elin,,,,Stephanie and I have eaten there at the Main St. Bakery as well and the food is good and it was a good way to use our dining plan credits when we needed to.

Elin,,,stephanie and i are counting the days until Magic Meet.

We plan to leave work early and get over there to be able to eat supper. Hope we can meet for that.

I am hoping Penny-- chaoscent-- will be there as well. She is a hoot!!!!

Please let me know when the info about the Meet Before the Meet goes out. I am still not getting the newsletters, even though I have emailed them twice! :confused3

Bernadette-Elin said it so well I think I will just add:hug::hug:and the knowledge that I know what you are going through.

Deb-we are looking at early June for next year since the girls get out so early from school. I would love to do July again but with Cassidy heading off to college we won't know when she will need to head to the college. Hopefully the girls and I will still be able to do it....we have already trimmed some things from it, but other I will not let go of.
