DDA Chapter 20

I'm glad you all had fun. The boys have decided that if they can't go to WDW this year they can settle for multiple trips to SixFlags. There are more roller coasters so it isn't all bad. We noticed that our SixFlags is much cleaner than it used to be which is a huge improvement. Nick got a dippin dots in a souvenier dish so he can get refills on that for $3 for the rest of the season. We love the refill options. We've done the refillable cups both trips. $1 refills are so nice :thumbsup2

Yeah, Rachel is excited about the dippin dots thing too as that's what she always wants. We bought the mug on our first trip and Kristi got hers this time so we're set there too. Combined with the deal a friend got us on our passes it all works perfectly for a summer of inexpensive entertainment.

Good morning! It's a glorious day here! sun is shining! Birds are sining! I just want to be outside. Well, maybe later.

Chanon- I want to wish you a good trip! I can't wait to hear what you think of "my"! I'm so excited to be going!

On tap for today is finishing up Timothy's shirts. I've got one to iron on, and then a swirl Mickey head to do. The others all turned out great! Once I'm done, I'll load the pictures for you all!

I also need to do some shopping today. Just found out that the church camp that Katie will be going to this summer leaves the day after we get back from Disneyland. So, I need to have all her gear packed, and taken to the leader's house before we leave. Luckily, she is camping in the high mountains, so will not be needing all the shorts and T's we're taking to Disneyland. It just adds another layer to my packing! It's times like these I wish Elizabeth were here!

I also need to ask for some prayers. My good friend called me last night. Her DIL went into labor the night before mother's day. She was 28 weeks pregnant. They tried to stop the labor but couldn't, and baby Claire was born early Mother's day morning. Please keep her in your prayers. She weighs just over 2 pounds, and is breathing on her own, but so much could still go wrong. Thanks!

Hope you get to enjoy your weather. We've got a pretty nice day going here as well. Good luck with your packing. We've got to do the same thing with our Branson trip. We'll drive back on Friday and have to drop Rachel's stuff off at the church that night for their World Changers trip. Luckily, only some of her things will overlap and we'll have a washer at the condo in Branson. We moved our Branson trip to leaving the same time as Dad leaves for Ukraine or we'd be rushing to get him ready too.

We'll keep Claire and her family in our prayers. I hope that she continues to do well.

It blacks you out if you go past your reservation date - like if you were to book a hotel room for 2010 it wouldn't let you - if you don't put in a reservation # then you are stuck to the straight 90 days. With reservation, 10 days past. (I think...haven't played with that one but that's what I'm assuming because I didn't enter a reservation number and it only let me go 90 days.) No clue if it would let you book 3 for the same time for same day. (I'm trying that now.) But they had no control over that in the past anyways...

Here's the "error" message I got:

...and that was for 9:20 at Grand Floridian and 9:30 at Crystal Palace. So no control set.

...and another agent is currently playing with this (mind you she's slow with this stuff so everything is "strange" or "wrong" to her.. :rolleyes1 )and she's putting in reservation numbers of clients and now sounds like she's booking for one person on the wrong reservation so trust the agent you talk to. :teeth:

Since there will hopefully be enough time for the bugs to be worked out before I need it ( ;) ) I kind of like the idea of online booking, but then I hate sitting on the phone listening to the same spiel each time and having to call back with every little change.

Good morning, DDA! Not too much exciting going on here. Kristi's got an interview this morning so she just got here with the kids. Otherwise, we've just got to get ready for company this weekend. Since Kristi's graduation is Sunday, Granny and my aunt Pam are coming into town on Saturday. I should have a day or two without the baby this week, though, so that will be helpful. I've also got to decide what I want to do for my birthday since I told Erin it was okay to have her Mops group here for a movie night on Friday night. I've come to really not care for a couple of them so finding something else to do is high on the priority list.

Glynis good luck with packing. We will keep baby Claire in our prayers

Chanon Have a Spectacular trip.:banana:

Tia I hope you find something fun to do on your birthday and I agree that SixFlags is our summer entertainment too. We already absorbed most of the costs :thumbsup2

Becky - I'm so sorry for your friends. Their families are in my prayers.

Deb - Sounds like a good day yesterday. I'm glad that Colby's IEP went well. Too bad about the boys' games. Sounds like they did well though.

Tammi - Enjoy your new found time!

Glynis - Hope your computer can eek out a few more months for you. I know exactly how you feel!

Elizabeth - I hope you get some good answers from the tests.

wonderfully dittoable post.:goodvibes

Ok so how do you get ADRs for dates on or after May 26 for reservations prior to May 26th?

Searched for Crystal Palace, Aug 1 at 9:45am...

Good Morning All!!

Chanon-have fun in Disneyland!!

It's been an interesting few days at my house....Mother's Day was okay...we went to my grandparent's house and celebrated the girls (and Jim's birthday) while we were there. That means we don't have to go back this week:cool1: They will actually be in Texas this weekend (Houston, I think) if Texas feels extremely cold it's because my grandmother couldn't stop herself from being judgemental (my family down there are Jehovah's Witnesses...high up in the church):rotfl2:

We then went shopping, because money in my girls pocket doesn't last long:rotfl:Plato's closet had a great deal with all of their clothes out and 15% off summer clothes and then ARC and Target...just what I wanted to do on Mother's Day...go shopping for somebody other than myself. :rotfl:There is a wrapped box just waiting for me to open it from Jim....I just can't :sad1:

It is beautiful today...the first day in almost 9 months we will hit 80....new record for the latest we have hit 80...so I will clean bathrooms and then go read on my deck.

I can't believe school is almost out :scared1:

Wonder what it will be like for people like me who are renting DVC points? Will it recognize our reservation number under our name??? or the member's name??

Isn't the ressie actually in your name, just made by the member?

I asked the question because that is what it says on the top of the page that I quoted from Chanon. So in layman terms, if you made your reservations before May 26th, but are staying after May 26th you can make your ADRs?

Can't you just call WDW-DINE?

Is anyone going to do the Picnic in the park that is being offered at AK?
And again I ask why the meal options start at for a family of 3??

Good thoughts for Claire and her family!

How thoughtful of them to tell you to just go right ahead and proceed if you would like to double book. I am all set to hate online ADRs. Just so we are clear. ;)

Is anyone going to do the Picnic in the park that is being offered at AK?
And again I ask why the meal options start at for a family of 3??

Nope. If we were going to do CS at AK we would probably just eat CS at the hotel instead.

I asked the question because that is what it says on the top of the page that I quoted from Chanon. So in layman terms, if you made your reservations before May 26th, but are staying after May 26th you can make your ADRs?
I assume when you put in your ressie # that it knows what date you are checking in, then instead of saying May 26th it would say whatever your date is.

Thanks Tammi, it just seems so confusing. Lucky I have quite a while before I can make ADRs and I will call.

Gary now has an appointment to see a kidney specialist in July. We are both to the point of knowing that nothing is going to found & this is probably just something he will have to deal with the rest of his life.

But he will go just to hear what they have to say.

I'm glad he's got an appointment. It's good to have all available information, even if it's not helpful.

The boys both lost their games. They both played well, but the other teams played way too rough in my opinion. They had many more penalties than our team. Nick took a shot to the head (helmet) and it cracked his helmet visor. That put him on the bench for a few minutes while he shook it off. Later in the game he got hit in the inner elbow area with another shot. Amazingly he managed to stay in the game until the end. Hunter was plowed over 3 separate times and took a cleat to the shin. He also played to the end. I was very proud of them both. Chris was a little disappointed that he lost his first game as the coach, but he'll get over it.

Colby's IEP appointment went well. He will be in speech for at least another year, but she is hoping that he will learn quicker over the summer when she is working with him one on one. His primary teacher was also there and she said she has high hopes for next year. She feels like some kindergartners take much more responsibility and find their independence in 1st grade. I certainly hope so. She also mentioned that he showed her no less than 10 times that he learned to tie his shoes yesterday. She was amazed how proud he was of himself.
:scared1:Yikes about the rough games. Glad things went well with the IEP meeting.

the ones in Bold we saw last year plus Ariel.
Lizzy wanted to see Ariel but we decided to do the fairies instead as both lines open up at the same time-by the time we got out of the fairies Ariel's line was huge and was other days when we checked too. We did go back to MK on our last day but Lizzy wanted to ride Pooh instead of waiting for Ariel. You really MUST be at the Toon Town rope drop before 10am (I would say by 9:40) if you want to see the fairies.

So today my co-worker's sister that has been battling colon cancer was being taken off of life support. There are a whole bunch of family issues going on, in addition to her being sick.

In addition a volunteer that had a brain tumor removed last year, had emergency surgery on Friday through her back to remove a tumor off her spine. They did not get it all, so she had surgery today but opening up from the front to try and get the rest of the tumor.

Both are in their 50's if that.

I hope you all had a good day.
How tragic!:sad2:

We all had a good day yesterday as well.

There were 19 of us together and Six Flags and it went better than I expected. My sister's friend whose family went with us is the one who's (wild) kids I watch sometimes. Their family as a whole can be a little much sometimes so I was prepared for some splitting up. As it was, we did split up a bunch but it was in many different combinations of people. After the first hour or so we kind of set up camp on a bench in the kids area. From there, different people took turns staying with the friends' baby and sometimes the 3 little girls (20 months - 28 months) while others took the bigger kids on rides or went to do roller coasters, etc. I ended up taking the little girls on a lot of things for a little while along with my BIL and later got to do a handful of things with just Terra. In all, we had a good time and those without passes got to really enjoy their time. We also got good use of the $9 popcorn/cotton candy bucket that has free refills on the day your buy it, then $1 refills after that. I think we probably got 7 popcorn and 4 cotton candy refills throughout the day, if not more. Now Terra can get a treat on most trips without it costing a lot.

Afterward, Terra and I did hit Ted Drewes to finally get me my frozen custard. :cloud9: We finished the day by dressing all of Terra's Webkinz in their various outfits. Not totally exciting, I know ;) , but she was happy. Ever since we discovered that each Webkinz can have six different outfits "stored" on them and selected through a drop down menu, she's been wanting to go through and do that...so we did and it totally made her day.

Now, I'm just working on some basic plans for our Feb trip so that we can finalize the budget and she what were're working for. Really, I need to be headed to bed, but after a day of being tired, I'm not. I don't know what is with my internal clock, but it is completely out of whack. Hopefully, it can find a way to readjust soon though as it's driving me crazy.
Sounds like a fun day.

So, I could use some restaurant advice...I need something new for Epcot or the surrounding area. We've done Mexico, Rose and Crown, Garden Grill and Coral Reef. I think this is one of the best place to work in a new restaurant, probably for dinner. So, what are our best choices, non-signature, for me and Terra?
Joe really like Cape May for dinner-said it was his best meal ever but that was with the DDA so I'm sure that helped too but he did really enjoy the food. I've never taken the kids but I thought the ESPN club was pretty good-and I'm sure the kids would enjoy it. My girls wouldn't eat much in Germany but I think Joe would enjoy it-I'll have to keep that in mind for his next trip. We did Morocco once and while the food was good it was really LOUD. Canada is good if you can get a reservation, Japan is fun-Joe loved that one too. We did France for lunch and it was good.

 There seems to be a lot of cancer stories lately. SIL was telling us this week about a coworker of hers that was diagnosed with Lung cancer just this week. They've given her 2 weeks to 2 months to live. SIL visited her yesterday and said that she has already lost her appetite and is beginning to lose weight. SIL feels that she won't make it a month. She is also in her early 50s. I've heard 2 or 3 other stories from patrons at the pool, all seem to have lung cancer.
My coworker's boyfriend is scheduled to have half of a lung removed on June 1st. They will test his lymph nodes first and if they find anything there they will have to do chemo first.

Thanks!
Can't wait to see your shirts. Good luck packing!

Prayers for baby Claire.

I asked the question because that is what it says on the top of the page that I quoted from Chanon. So in layman terms, if you made your reservations before May 26th, but are staying after May 26th you can make your ADRs?
I think you're reading it wrong. I don't think it means resort reservations made after May 26 but for DINING reservations for dates after May 26 so I think you'll be able to use the new online system fine once it is up & running.

Is anyone going to do the Picnic in the park that is being offered at AK?
And again I ask why the meal options start at for a family of 3??
It looks like a lot of food. Joe saw the signs and was really interested in it but I had to tell him it was too much food for us.

Gary now has an appointment to see a kidney specialist in July. We are both to the point of knowing that nothing is going to found & this is probably just something he will have to deal with the rest of his life.

But he will go just to hear what they have to say.
:wizard:Seems like July is so far away.

Wonder what it will be like for people like me who are renting DVC points? Will it recognize our reservation number under our name??? or the member's name??

We've rented points for this trip, and with the new system they ask for your reservation #, it came up with my name and address.

Gary now has an appointment to see a kidney specialist in July. We are both to the point of knowing that nothing is going to found & this is probably just something he will have to deal with the rest of his life.

Janet - I hope you get some answers.

Good luck! I hope they do tell you something, because hearing nothing over and over gets old. :wizard:

I am completely off my groove. :headache: DH is working this brutal schedule so I have to get DS from school every day. Princess had swimming this morning, then we had a completely high maintenance play date. The other nanny switched locations on us, then she wanted to eat WAAYY early, so now Princess is all out of whack and whiny because she ate lunch too early.

I had a TON of errands. I managed to do exactly ONE. The cleaners ruined Momboss's blouse before Easter. She just found a receipt for it, so she asked me to take it back so they can reimburse her. The totally UNprofessional bimbo at the cleaners said I will have to come back because the manager isn't there. I have to go back anyway, because I forgot to bring a check to pay for the clothes that need to be picked up. :headache:

Momboss left 2 pairs of shoes for repair, but I can't tell what's wrong with one pair, so I couldn't drop them off.

We need groceries, but that will have to be a tomorrow thing.

I made it to Target and got everything from that list, but that was it.

When we got back from Target I left my car in the driveway. DH came to get DS. We were getting DS's backpack from my car and a HUGE branch fell on my car. Dented the door AND scratched it.:headache::mad: Yes, we are lucky it didn't hit any of us. But I am upset about the car.

Princess needs a bath. I am completely stressed out. So there you have it!
