We had a nice day today. Once the kids had their rooms cleaned, we headed out for the afternoon. We had every intention of taking the kids to the Kennecott Copper Mine. It's the largest open pit mine in the world. It can be seen from space! (Sound familiar, Theresa???) Well, as we got in the car, we noticed a dark cloud just hanging over the mine. We called a neighbor that works there and found out that it was in white out conditions that afternoon. Real blizzard happening there. The funny thing was that everywhere else was clear and sunny. So, we had to come up with a plan B. We took the kids to the University of Utah's natural history museum. We decided to get a year long pass so we can go back many times. There are several exhibits we want to check out in the upcoming months. There were some people working in the dinosaur lab, and when they saw Jacob with his nose pressed up against the window, trying to see what they were doing, they invited him in. He, Katie and Alan got to go on a private tour of the "off limits" lab. They were working on cleaning up some dinosaur bones that had been brought in this week, so it was exciting for Jacob.
The twins had a great time with the hands on exhibits meant for the little ones. After that, we strolled through the mineral exhibits, and everyone found their birthstones. Very exciting! By this time, Timothy was hungry, so I excused myself to the car to feed him, while Alan and the kids looked around some more. They were kicked out as the museum closed, and the kids were thrilled to know that we could come back whenever we want.
We headed off to a pizza place for dinner, but the wait time was astronomical! We had forgotten that there was a basketball game at the university, which made things crazy! Instead, we headed to Alan's favorite sandwich place, Jimmy John's, and we split 3 sandwiches between the 6 of us. Very nice.
Now, we're home, and I'm trying to convince the kids to go to bed since we'll be losing an hour tonight. It's not going over very well with anyone but me!
Since things are quiet, I think I'll sign off and go do some reading. Alan is cuddling with the baby, so I'm going to enjoy some me time! Night all!
