DDA Chapter 18

We did have a really good time, despite my bird encounter and the buses. I did notice the next time at MK the workers were keeping the food cleaned up, so there were less birds about.

I have really noticed the bird population increase in Frontierland over the last couple of trips - I had some hanging around my feet when I got some popcorn there in January. The only other spot that they've always been bad has been near the entrance to World Showcase from FW. I think the problem is people feeding them too much.

Oh goodness -- I hope today is better for both of you. :grouphug: Are the meds helping the nausea?

Yes, some. I'm trying to only take it once a day. Now, I feel worse at night than I do in the early mornings, so I try to take it at night and make it through the day without it. Some days are still better than others. I just want my appetite back!

I'm sneaking in some extra DIS time today. We get fairly frequent, but short breaks throughout the day so maybe I can keep up 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there. I probably shouldn't put the cart before the horse, but the aquatics director told me yesterday that I will be getting a promotion already. She needs to get final approval from the facility director, but it "should" happen very soon, maybe even today. That means a raise :cool1: I will also get a raise once I start teaching swimming lessons. If this all works out I will not feel so bad about taking a low paying job. It still won't be what I was making 10 years ago at Dartmouth, but there is far less stress with this job.

I'm heading back out to guard. That 10 minutes was quick.

What great news!!!!

Thanks, ladies! I am feeling somewhat better today (can you hear me knocking on wood???). I am on a mission for Robyn to find her some different wines for her new wine rack, so it is almost a given that I will be in Richmond tomorrow. :rotfl2:

Hey, Tammi... what are your plans for tomorrow??

Glad you're feeling better! I hope you and Tammi enjoy yourselves tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Good Morning DDA!

Sorry if I have been MIA!

I had been busy with getting Leighanna's Birthday party ready, work, sickies, new kitty, and all the general RL stuff!

Hopefully things now will calm down a bit!

Welcome back Heidi! Frontierland is NOT the place to get food! I don't know how many hot dogs and french fries I saw getting swooped on and taken right from the hands of people. (I think there is a reason they have signs there that warn of not feeding the birds.) And of course, what goes in, must come out at some time!:rolleyes1 Sorry it had to come out on you, Heidi.
Most CM's, I noticed, would replace what was snatched up though.

I need to plan another trip to get out of this PDD. Unfortunately, August is already taken at work.

Hi, Tom! Sorry to hear things have been crazy - perhaps someone will clear a spot in the schedule for August.

I am glad you are making your meds work for you so far, Lindsay. I hope you get your appetite back very soon too!

I am sure Tammi and I will have fun! The tickets are purchased and I will pick up my date about noon! :rotfl:

:headache: I don't know how my realtor (sale of my house) sleeps at night!!!!!!!!:headache:

Heidi, welcome home! :wave2:

Vicki, I hope you and Chuck have a magical trip! :wizard:

I appreciate the continued well-wishes for all the sickness that has plagued my household this past month. Both boys are looking and acting 100% better, and I'm praying that this time, we're kicking the ear infections for good!

On Thursday, I'm taking the kids up to my mom's for five days, so Kevin can finally get Matty's big boy room done in our absence. It's terribly overdue, but there's just not enough time in the day! Hopefully, he can be productive, and the kids and I will have a great time catching up with my side of the family, since we haven't seen them since Christmas.

I hope you all have a great weekend! :)

have a safe and fun trip

So the meeting that my boss went to this morning did not go well. The facility administrator has done a horrible job with budgeting so there is no money for a second head life guard. The would like me to be assistant head lifeguard with the same responsibilities as the head life guard with no pay increase. She doesn't want to fight him yet as she has bigger battles ahead. He has only budgeted for 1.5 lifeguards per hour to cover the olympic size competition lap pool and the entire leisure pool area including the current pool, 3 lane lap pool, kids play zone and large water slide :confused3 . Much of the day today we only had 3 guards so we had one guarding the lap pool, and two on the leisure side, but we couldn't open the slide as it was too busy watching those areas. We also had no breaks during that time. We need a minimum of 4 guards to guard effectively and have breaks and 5 if they want the slide open. At busier times we need at least 7 guards. How he came up with 1.5 is a complete mystery and would lead to certain law suits as it just wouldn't be safe. So for now there is no promotion, just more responsibility. I hope to see a payoff somewhere up the road.

I have to leave in 15 minutes for work. Chris is planning on working out and letting the boys swim for awhile. I'll drop Colby and Hunter off to him at work and Nick is getting a ride with a friend. What a crazy busy day. Tomorrow I only have to work one job so it should be a more relaxing day :lmao:

Elin & Tammie have a good time tomorrow!

Amy glad to hear the boys are feeling better. Enjoy your weekend away!

Deb sorry to hear there is no promotion for now, hopefully soon it will happen :wizard:

Anne Marie do you need a few of these

Lindsay hope the meds keep working for you & you get your appetite back soon!

I have felt like a slug all day. I did get laundry done & chili in the slow cooker for dinner.

I spent 5 hours going to a movie;) But I also got supper in the crockpot and the dishwasher run.

Littleton did "Pure as the Driven Snow" the first year the new theater was completed....my mom and I had so much fun. :goodvibes

I love melodramas.

Tomorrow Abi and I are going to watch Pirates of Penzance at the high school....I hope it's as good as I remember. (I will love it anyway as I know quite a few of the man male leads and all of the pit:lovestruc )

Have fun! I love that show. One of my earliest memories is of my father as the Major General. It was a fun memory.

My earliest memory of my father was of him performing in Don Quixote. He was playing the lead. I was about 4 years old at the time. At the end of the play, as he is being taken off by the Spanish Inquisition, I remember standing on my seat and screaming at the top of my lungs! I was positive that it was my daddy that was going to be killed. I was so hysterical, I got my sister, who was 5, and my brother, who was 3, screaming as well. My mom had to take us backstage immediately to show us he was ok. He took us all on for his curtain call. Is it any wonder I turned out to be a drama queen?

Glynis-Joe's Blue & Gold is Saturday night. It is a pot luck-we have to pick a state and bring a food from that state. We picked MA and are bringing Boston Baked Beans.

That has to be a good sign!!!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sounds like you need a vacation! That stinks about the ticket!

What a fun theme for the banquet! I've been thinking about what food I would choose to represent Utah. The only things I can come up with are fry sauce, and green jell-o with pineapple. Hmmm, what does that say about my state? I guess you could do some dutch oven chicken and potatoes, but they didn't originate in Utah.

Hi everyone, I'm home. :wave2: DAMN IT!!!
Had a great time, didn't want to come home. I don't do trip reports, but will give ya some highlights.

We decided to get up at 2:00 am the 19th cause we had gotten 2" of snow and sleet the night before and we didn't know how the roads would be. No trouble at Allentown, but had a delay at Philly. They were checking the plane and there was a problem with the one engine, so we had to take a different plane to Orlando.

ME fine, got luggage in about 2 hrs. Got to resort to check in, John asked how much to upgrade to a king room. She checked to see if there was a king available, and they upgraded us for free! (building 1 room 1332 corner room, lake view.)

Got to room and there was a large towel Mickey Head on the bed. ºOº For an 8 day stay we got 7 towel animals. 2 swans, 2 chicks, a puppy, a lobster and a baby bunny. :yay: The room was very clean and stayed that way the entire time.

For the 1st time ever, I can say the buses for POFQ stunk (big time). :(

Weather was cool most days, but nice. Parks were crowded but manageable (we won't do peak season ever again)
John did Soarin (60 minute wait), we rode everything we wanted and did the parks several times.

Dole whip - good but a little to rich. (after my Dole whip a bird pooped on me :headache:) CP lunch 4 thumbs up.
Called for an ADR for Boatwrights for one night, couldn't get in until 8:30 so we walked over got got seated immediately. I decided not to do the carriage ride.

Welcome back, Heidi! Sounds like you had quite the time! Sorry about the bird poop!
