DDA Chapter 18

no, no, no.... he would have left it there to rot.

Possums are hard animals to die. Hal hit one going home one night and he knew it would suffer, so he ran over it again to make sure it was dead. He said he came back that way the next day and the thing was gone!!!

Okay, what is everyone's Oscar picks?

I think Slumdog Millionaire for best picture
Mickey Rourke for best actor
Meryl Streep for best actress
Keith Ledger best supporting (is there any doubt about this one?)

YAY!! Like there was any doubt!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Congrats on passing your test Deb!

Steffy - sounds like you and your DD handled things just fine without a Bob

Lindsay -We'll have to see if our paths cross in May, I had planned on avoiding Studios during Star Wars, but Brandon was telling me how much he loves Star Wars the other day so it looks like we'll be there for at least part of the day on the 24th. We plan on a lot of non commando time.

Also, we went in search of Disney items for the baby in November and were very disappointed in the lack of merchandise available, only a couple of dresses and a few onesies. We ended up buying her two onesies, a Minnie bib, and a stuffed pink Minnie rattle.

I need to get organized tonight as I need to be at work at 7 AM. I must make sure that the boys have everything ready as well as myself. This is new territory for me. I haven't had a real morning job since 2000. I'm sure it will all be fine after the adjustment

We've decided to do the Mem. Day weekend (assuming the flights will work out - waiting for some transferred AmEx pts. into my SW rewards account). J brought up a good point that we'll probably just be doing a lot of meandering and resort time, since it's not like I would probably feel like going commando. Thus, we want a good resort with a good pool - that pretty much means BC or GF to us.

:cool1: for getting your trip booked!

Where are you guys staying?? I forget!

CSR, hoping for a refurbished room! If not, I know we will at least get queen beds(one for sleeping & one for......... :rolleyes1 )JK :rotfl:

I know he was trying to put it out of it's misery, but just the thought :scared:

I never get used to the early mornings :rotfl: That is why I love summer break from school. I only have to get myself going!

I know he was trying to put it out of it's misery, but just the thought :scared:

I cringed when he told me but he told me that they are really mean when they are hurt and he didn't want it to run off and attack another animal.

Looks like it'll just be Lindsay and me holding down the boards in August since everyone is doing something Disney related. :teeth: PS - congrats on booking in May! I've been during that time and it's a good season to go.

I didn't see this one but I did see one for Clearwater St Pete's 2007 and 2008 Half Marathon. :confused3

 Bob and I are planning on watching Changeling tonight. I've been cleaning out my bookshelves and cleaning out cookbooks - getting rid of old ones, writing new ones in the make your own cookbooks then I'm able to toss quite a few. I probably have over 50 Taste of Home's. :faint:

Hey!! What am I chopped liver??:confused3 :rotfl:

I love Taste of Home!!

Come and tell us what you think of Changeling.

I love watching the Oscars but hardly ever do I see more than 1 of the movies....this year I saw two...in the animation category:rotfl:

Slumdog and Heath seem to be the only slam dunks.

I can not wait for Jim to go back to work tomorrow.:headache:

OK, we are back from the Disney liquidation store!

They have a lot of stuff. Most of it is clothing, and most of it is from DL. Lots of kids clothing, adult T-shirts, adult hoodies (pullover and zip front), tote bags, backpacks, fanny packs. Hats (baseball caps and the big novelty hats), red Crocs w/ black strap (adult sizes), a few little "decorative" things, plush, plastic cups/mugs, autograph books, photo albums.

Most of the stuff has "Disneyland" on it, and a fair amount has the year 2006, 2007, 2008 etc.

We did get an AKL black pullover hoodie for DS (adult Small) and a Kali Rapids T-shirt (adult Small). They had SSR T-shirts but they were all adult Medium.

They had PINS! We had to ask for them because there were only about 10 on the rack. The manager brought out 4 big boxes of pins from the back, several different styles. I asked if he would cut us a deal, and he said if I bought 100 pins he would sell them for $2.50. I said "How about $2?" He said $2 is their cost, he would go $2.10, so that's what we did. He had to manually override the price, and the pins were ringing up about $5 - $6 each so we feel like we got a GREAT deal on them. So much for not trading in August. :rolleyes1

So there you have it! Oh, and the stuff is NOT all 80% off. It is UP TO 80% off. Some of it is definitely not marked down very well.
Congrats on the deals. I didn't think the no trading would last but I did think you'd make it more than 2 weeks.

So I got my suitcases down from attic. I plan on stopping at Walmart the night I get there to get snack foods, bottled water, etc. I would like to stop at Target but they close at 10pm and my flight lands at 9:50pm.

I have not seen any Bullfrog sunblock around here yet. Does anyone have any recommendations for a spray sunblock that pretty much sprays on clear and does not run? Just in case I can not find it in Florida either. I could always buy the Neutrogena spray, as it was that but I did not like the smell of it.
I like the feel of Neutrogena better than the others but have used Coppertone Sport and Kids sprays.

I need to ask for a little PD, we got a call at 5:00 am this morning, my DD had a temp of 103.2, so we went to watch the baby while my SIL took her to the ER. They suspect a bladder infection and have started her on an antibiotic, she is very unhappy that they want her to have minimal contact with the baby until her cultures come back.
:wizard: Hope the meds kick in quick for her!

:offtopic: I am completely tramatized right now. Did you know possums have hands? Little fingers? Well, now I do. There was a possum that took up residence under my shed. He was lying in the yard the other day so I figured he was playing possum. When he was still in the same place when I got home, I knew he was really dead.

So my DD and I had to go out in the yard (yes, we are pioneer women for sure now) get a shovel, stick him in a bag and put him in the trash. Woo Hoo! Way to have some weekend fun.:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'm going back to catch up and try to calm myself down.
Sounds like you need one of Elin's wine floats.

:woohoo: Congratulations! Good luck tomorrow!

I booked an AP rate for a std. room at the BC. I had to book a dummy reservation for 7 days (only way I could get the std. room to come up), and I plan to call back and have them remove the excess days tomorrow (only staying 4 nights). I did have to book online, because when calling CRO, they were charging rack rate for the weekend :scared: . Online, the AP rate was for the entire time. I'm hoping when I call to modify the reservation, they won't change the rate on me. If they do, we'll switch to BWI.

:wizard: Good luck with airfare!

I was flipping though channels & caught what is the special value on QVC, I really don't need one, but it sure looks nice!

http://www.qvc.com/?rewrite=no&cm_re=MH-_-LOGO-_-LOGO&cm_sp=MH-_-LOGO-_-LOGO

Anyone have one of these, what do you think?
I want one. I did see that BJ's has one that comes with lots of pods. I tried to compare it to what amazon has and there are SOOOOO many different models. I would want to understand what is "mini" about the QVC one.

I did get some sleep. I'm leaving in 45 minutes and haven't looked at the materials this morning. We are in the start of a Nor' Easter so this could be a wild day. We are expecting up to 16"

Thanks for the well wishes. The first words out of Colby's mouth this morning was "I wish you good luck mama":goodvibes Now he is making me a sandwich to take with me for lunch

how sweet

You know, I have absolutely no interest in the Oscar's this year. I think the only movie I've seen was Slumdog, which I did like.

Lindsay -We'll have to see if our paths cross in May, I had planned on avoiding Studios during Star Wars, but Brandon was telling me how much he loves Star Wars the other day so it looks like we'll be there for at least part of the day on the 24th. We plan on a lot of non commando time.

Yes, we'll have to see if we can say "hi"!

Thanks for the head's up on the merchandise. I somewhat kept an eye out when I was there in January, and from previous trips when buying for other people, was always surprised at the lack of stuff they had. We're not planning on a Disney nursery, but just Disney "touches." I have some ideas about some pics I'd like to try to take and style - we'll see!

I need to get organized tonight as I need to be at work at 7 AM. I must make sure that the boys have everything ready as well as myself. This is new territory for me. I haven't had a real morning job since 2000. I'm sure it will all be fine after the adjustment

Congrats again, Deb. I'm sure it will be an adjustment, but at least an adjustment that means more $$. :thumbsup2 I hope tomorrow goes well for all of you!

CSR, hoping for a refurbished room! If not, I know we will at least get queen beds(one for sleeping & one for......... :rolleyes1 )JK :rotfl:

I had no idea they were refurbing the rooms at CSR - that's exciting!

I can not wait for Jim to go back to work tomorrow.:headache:

I want one. I did see that BJ's has one that comes with lots of pods. I tried to compare it to what amazon has and there are SOOOOO many different models. I would want to understand what is "mini" about the QVC one.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but had to look at Janet's like, since J is ADDICTED to coffee. He likes the idea of those machines (being able to brew a couple of drinks at a time, vs. a whole pot). This one from QVC only brews 8 oz. at a time, though, which I know wouldn't be enough for him. Looking at the Keurig website, for about $20 you can get one that brews 8 or 10 oz., and has a 48 oz. reservoir.
