Good morning all (well for me it's still morning:goodvibes )

I had a not so nice email waiting for me this morning which just set the dominoes going with Jim so it hasn't been a great day for me.

I should have said....I hope everybody else is having a great day!

Deb-I hope the second day of the class has less injuries to you than the first.

HOORAY!!! :yay: I'm so happy for you!

So she can meet me, of course! :teeth:

None taken! This is why I don't pay attention to most "news". I'm sure they thought this was a happy human interest story, and it infuriates me as well. The families that I used to take care of would eat better on food stamps than I could ever afford, and drive off from the center in their escalades... all while popping out baby after baby that they refused to take care of. The "handout" situation in this country is out of control, and I fear it's just going to get worse...

Rant away!

It is very hard for me as well. We had people on welfare that would buy hamburger for their dogs because their food stamps wouldn't pay for the dog food. We all have to make choices on what we have and have not in our lives. I have no problem with the assistance being provided but when people can't take care of themselves, they should give up some of the non-necessities until they can take care of themselves.

I agree with Kristin that there are many people that do need this and use it only long enough to get back on their feet. I am happy to pay my taxes to provide this assistance. However, the system needs to be overhauled so that people can't take advantage of it. We also need to overhaul the credit institutions to make sure that we don't "help" people get in over their heads.

I'm sorry, Theresa.

I can't help but keep believing that the clouds are going to lift for you soon!

Lindsay - that is from USA Baby (which of course isn't local to us but we can order online late March I think is when is comes out). The brand is Sumersault and they have a bunch of cute styles out there. I was bored at work one day and looked around. Since we aren't finding out the sex of the baby, we wanted something neutral - that didn't have to do with teddy bears, frogs, pastels or jungle animals. I fell in love with the hedgehogs in this one!

I love it!!

Lindsay - We had DS in our room for the first 2 weeks. The pediatrician said we were crazy and told us to put him in his own room. MUCH better that way! :thumbsup2 I think we used the bassinet in his room at first because it was warmer than in the crib. Of course he is a January baby and the year we had him it was COLD! He transitioned to the crib just fine.
I have worked for families with the video monitors and they are fine IF you can get the reception to come in clear. Otherwise an audio monitor is fine. You can still hear the baby moving with the audio monitor.
I had a book that that talked about evaluating the quality of crib bedding. I don't think I still have it, though. I'll have to see if I can find the info for you because it was REALLY helpful. It said to watch out for bedding sewn with that clear nylon (think thin fishing line type thread) because it will break in the dryer. It talked about how thick your bumper pads should be, how to tell nice quality bumpers from flimsy ones, etc. It also evaluated different brands, but of course those manufacturers may be out of business now!

It's very cute! You must be a much more patient person than me to wait to find out. ;)

I haven't seen any bedding yet that just blows me away, for either sex. I may go the route of having it made if I can't find anything. I have a couple of friends that did this, and were able to have it made for about the same price as other bedding.

There is a brand new edition being published soon! I highly recommend this book! I know the author's MIL, but I didn't meet her until after I read the book. ;)

Ah, release date April 25. I didn't see that at first!

Yes, that book is on my list to buy. :thumbsup2 I actually saw it in B&N several weeks back - the title of it "how to save..." caught my eye - I thought, "oh, DIS-like advice for baby stuff." :rotfl:

The same friend that told me about the video monitor told me this book was her bible - she said the only thing they did go against the book on was the monitor, and for them, that was the right choice! Glad to hear you give it "two thumbs up", too. :goodvibes

I just checked, and my library has the 7th edition. :yay: I'll check it out from them, and then buy the new version in April. :thumbsup2

Lindsay - Two pieces of advice on custom bedding - Don't have it made super thick, and don't get anything that is dry clean only! :scared:
I know, common sense, right? But the boy I used to nanny had all custom bedding and it was a nightmare. The comforters were way too thick to actually use, so he would sleep on top of them. And pee on them. And off to the dry cleaners I would go. Sometimes more than once a week.
I only used DS's comforter when he would play on the floor in the living room. We never used it in his bed. :confused3

Chanon and Bob,,,I am so very happy for you two!!!

Two DDA babies almost back to back!!!!

When I had our third, I also had my tubes tied. I told the DR I did not care if I could have a few more C-sections, three was my limit. I told him to make sure he cut, tied, burned those tubes. I did not want to get pregnant again. His response was that one in 250 times, a woman gets pregnant anyway.

Nine months after Steve was born, Hal and I had a chance to get away for the weekend at a Pocono resort as our tenth wedding anniversary present from his folks. It was the most relaxing time I had had and we really enjoyed ourselves. Well,,,,,two months later and no period. I called the DR's office and made an appointment. I was ready to fall apart because we just could not afford to go thru another pregnancy and I was ready to really hurt the DR.:lmao: The day of the appointment, my period started. It seems that we had such a relaxing time that weekend, that my system just didn't want to start back up like it was supposed to. I told the DR that it would have to have been divine intervention because I was not going to be that
250th woman to have a child after having my tubes tied :rotfl:

And now with all of the plumbing gone since I was 37 years old, no chance of me getting pregnant.

Well. It's 2:50 PM. DS was scheduled to compete at 1:30 PM, and his music takes 6 minutes to play. I called DH and he said he will call me in a little while whent hey are finished. Apparently when one has to be "worked in" there are significant delays. It's a good thing I stayed home, because I would be seething. As it is, I am just mildly annoyed.

And just like magic, DH calls and says they are done!

He said it was a disorganized mess. DS had to play one drum in one room, then move to a different room to play the other drum. How hard is it to put 2 drums in one room? :confused3

They are so far behind the band directors may not have results until Monday. Sounds like a disaster!

Amy love all the good night wishes from last night. but they did not work. Virginia woke up a few times during the night just crying for no reason.

Chanon love the nursery.

Theresa:hug: I hope the day gets better. Darn that Dufus.;)

got to go check on patients.

Robyn hope you enjoy your evening!

Chanon love the bedding! I always said I would wait to find out the sex, but when the time came I just had to know :rotfl:

Deb hope training went well for you today!

Elin hope your day has been a good one!

Jennifer I hope you were able to get a little rest today so you can enjoy your evening.

Theresa things will eventually start looking up for you, hang in there :goodvibes

Lindsay custom bedding sounds nice!

Kristine are you snowed under?

:wizard: & to all I missed.

OMG - I can just imagine your panic! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

As it stands, I'm waiting for my SIL to be that 250th woman - all of her children have been "surprises" - and that wasn't necessarily a good thing! :sad2:

And just like magic, DH calls and says they are done!

Yikes - that does sound like quite a mess. At least they're done! Did DS say how he thought it went?

Hi, Janet! How much snow did you guys get?

Meant to say - Elizabeth - duly noted on the bedding. Dry clean only bedding???!!!! :scared: I would think the dry cleaning bills alone could put one in the poor house!

I am by no means set on going that route, but I will explore it if I can't find anything I like when the time comes. As we will find out the gender, I do plan on theming the room as such, but I'll start looking around to see if there's anything great.

Jonathan was just saying today that he can't believe he has to wait another 11 weeks to find out what we're having - he would never make it 9 months! :rotfl:
