DDA Chapter 18

Meanwhile, Kyle is just snoring away next to me. Oh my gosh, how do people deal with snoring?! He doesn't usually unless he's sick but I want to throw him out the window. For real.

I'm not at all upset that he's sleeping, considering he's been working 20 hours at a time, on all sorts of shifts, etc for our family... but it sure doesn't make it an easier to get even a few minutes of sleep between baby fits!

Alan is a snorer! Usually, I don't hear him, as long as I get to sleep before he comes in. However, some nights (lately most nights) it's just awful! On those nights, Alan gets "cordially invited" to sleep in the guest room. He hates it, but I tell him that Timothy and I need our sleep, too, and since we're not the ones making all the horrid noise, it's only fair that he leave.

Glynis - I hope your arm is feeling better today. I lifted a very heavy suitcase last year when I was at the NAMM Show in Anaheim and my elbow gave me trouble for 6 months! So maybe it is something to do with how you lifted the car seat.

I am trying valiantly to get caught up on here. I came home last night with a nasty headache and it is still here this morning. I am assuming that it is sinus-related and will treat it as such. I am NOT getting another cold. I am NOT getting another cold. I am NOT...

Well, my arm is definitely NOT any better. In fact, it's a bit worse. I can't even straighten my arm out. As soon as the kids are off to school, I'm heading to the Urgent Care facility to have it x-rayed. I'll report back when I know something.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am caught up (I think!). I have to be at the studio at 9:30 to set up for our first weekend of Festival Recitals. Between 2:30 this afternoon and 5:00 Sunday I will hear at least 170 students play and accompany 10 concertos! I think I may hate music for a brief period of time...
:rotfl2: I hope not!

that is a lot of students....I could understand not liking music for a little bit. Enjoy your weekend

(and you are not getting a cold!!pixiedust: )

I don't think I am... it really feels like sinus issues. (I hope!) :upsidedow

Tammi-you do have a smart cookie and I hope you have hit upon a reasonable agreement and she becomes more honest at home.

I decided to tell Abi that I would be there this morning since I wasn't sure I could catch her attention while there.

Her reaction was a very excited "Reeaally?" followed quickly by "but it's going to be crowded and it's just a piece of paper, Mom" She is such her mom's girl. :upsidedow

While I don't have the migraine, I have the shadow, bounceback headache and my stomach is still upset (please, oh please, let it not be the stuff you all have) but I wouldn't miss this for the world this morning. :goodvibes

I am glad you are getting to go to the presentation and hope the headache remnants go away!

Glynis - I hope your report will be a good one. You need both arms to cradle that little darling of yours!

DEBBIE! You are my hero! :) (Pictures to follow...)

I'm not Elizabeth, but had to chime in here. Once our girls were old enough for parties we allowed them to invite as many kids as they had years under their belts. So, the parties got bigger as they got older, but they were certainly more manageable!

There was one exception to the rule and it is kind of a touching story. For Kristin's 6th birthday she wanted to have her party at McDonald's. :upsidedow So we started planning an August party for Kristin plus her 6 friends . We took my parents and my siblings to the beach with us that June and were talking about the birthday party and my parents both thought it sounded like fun and planned to be there, as they had been for every single birthday my children ever had. No matter where we lived they also came to visit us on my birthdays too.

But when my birthday rolled around in July my father wasn't feeling up to the trip to Virginia so we went to PA instead. He took me aside the day we left to come home and said, "Missy, I don't think your mother and I will be able to make the trip to Virginia next month for Monkeyshine's birthday. So I want you to invite everyone from her Kindergarten class." He handed me a blank check.

Every single child from Kristin's Kindergarten class came to that party. The place was packed. And those "kids" still talk about it now! And Kristin remembers that her Grandpa made sure she had a birthday to remember even though he wasn't there. That trip to visit them that July is one of her last memories of him. :goodvibes

What a sweet story! :goodvibes

I hope you aren't getting sick! :wizard:

Elizabeth - I never get pin codes either. :(

Wouldn't you know my mom got a 40% code.... and we had already selected (as I told you) the first half of October for our first vacation choice. Now I don't know what to do, if we should try and switch it or what! We wanted them to come down part of that trip with us, and it would be perfect.... SO close, and yet so far! :sad2:

Sounds like what Timothy had a few days ago. He worked it through the next day (blew through two outfits), but it was a horrible night. Poor girls! It's so tough to see them in pain. They look at you to fix it, but you just can't. Have you talked to your doctor? Any advice there?
pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Nah, we haven't talked to him. I'm not sure what you can do. They're pooping fine, so it's not constipation (and if it were we have plenty of prune juice and miralax on hand).... I guess we'll just have to wait it out! Last night was better than the previous 2, so hopefully we're getting somewhere. They're still extremely "off" today, and not eating well. Boo!

Well, my arm is definitely NOT any better. In fact, it's a bit worse. I can't even straighten my arm out. As soon as the kids are off to school, I'm heading to the Urgent Care facility to have it x-rayed. I'll report back when I know something.

I hope that it's something they can find and resolve, that sounds awful! :wizard:

Breakfast at school was really nice. There were a lot of homemade dishes that parents provided. Things like quiche, hash brown potatoes, fruits, donuts, danishes, etc. etc. Each child was called up and presented with a medal by the guidance counselor. The AP also gave them a certificate that was made and signed by everyone in their class, about why they were selected for their Honesty. She was so proud of herself. Here are a few pictures.

Well, I THINK we have enough outfits for WDW. At some point I need to lay them out and see what components we're missing (jackets for evenings, things to wear under outfits that are too big, etc). I have no idea if they'll come close to fitting, but we'll just have to play it by ear. I bought a few things today on the smaller side (too big for them now, but not swallowing them... so hopefully getting closer (or just right, even!) a few weeks from now).

I have a Children's Place order I placed almost 10 days ago now that has yet to ship, but when it comes (it had better!) I will have the next size jeans that we love.

Whenever I get a chance, I have to exchange two swimsuits I have that I don't really like at all for two that are a little better (though I don't love them still). Why is it that places put swimsuits out for toddlers and kids in January, but don't have any infant stuff out?

Once I get the suits and find some sun hats I think we should be set!

(But what do I know, really?!)

27 days! :yay:

I'm thinking someone had a productive shopping spree! ;) :cheer2:

Yes! I found things that will do all over this morning, but Kmart had 2 or 3 outfits that I think put the finishing touches on the WDW wardrobe. Of course, it's almost ALL Pooh and Minnie, but it'll do!

(You probably saw my previous post though... I really don't have a clue what I have/don't have! :teeth:)

Now if only Kyle and I had anything to wear! :rotfl:

I am back....it was long (as I knew it would be)

As is tradition they have 4 high schoolers come back and give speeches, supposedly to inspire:rolleyes: the kids. This year's batch are from Cassidy's grade....I actually knew one girl. She went first and was brief and made the most sense.

Dylan, our friend, made a perfect 4.0 last semester....I was floored. Not that he could do it, just that he did, as he is like Abi and just seems to be in school...they just do the work assigned.

A nap is in order this afternoon to get rid of the last little bit of the headache and to catch up on some sleep lost from the fitfulness of last night.

Tammi - Alyssa looks so grown up! Sounds like a nice presentation!

Jennifer - Glad the girls' wardrobes are coming together.

This Universal thing is making my head hurt. :sad2:

Theresa - I am glad you were able to attend Abi's ceremony! Have a good nap!

Back from the doctor. I have a bad case of tendonitis! Apparently, there's not much they can do for it, except use a little velcro band just under the elbow. I'm still not clear what it's supposed to do, but I'm wearing it. I'm supposed to try not to use my right arm (I'm right handed), and ice it and take tylenol. Ugh! I guess I'm glad it's not a fracture, but I was hoping for a quick fix to take the pain away, and the doctor told me it could last months. Not what I want to hear!

I just made an interesting discovery. I usually run my errands with Timothy in the morning, and he sleeps in his car seat. On days that we are home in the morning, it's hard to get him to nap in his bassinet. Well, on a whim, I put him in his bassinet this morning for his nap. He wasn't asleep, but was tired, and fussy. I draped a blanket over the top of the bassinet, and within 30 seconds (no joke) he was sound asleep. That was an hour ago, and he's still asleep! Good to know!

Glynis - I'm glad you found out what the problem is. Sorry that it will linger awhile.

Elizabeth - since you never wanted to go to US to begin with, I can take those free tickets off your hand, if you'd like. ;)
