DDA Chapter 17

At times it feels like it. It pretty much started with my Mom's surgery over the summer. It has been going on since. I just do not think about. I can't control it just gotta deal with it.:thumbsup2
That's a good attitude to have! pixiedust:

Good morning. :)

Today we have a Chili Cook-Off at school. Free chili and hotdogs! Well, not completely free. I was asked to send in Fritos for the chili, but it's for a good cause. I debated for several days if I was going to enter the contest (they are giving out some good prizes) but my schedule never gave me time to make a big pot of chili. So we'll just go, eat and play games. Then at 3 Alyssa has a Tea Party birthday party to go to. She was told she can dress up and bring her favorite doll. She's so excited for it. Maybe Nicholas and I will go do some grocery shopping while she is partying. It's much easier going with one. Usually I leave him at home and take her with me.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, everyone.

Jen - I'm so sorry about your Firefighter family! Many prayers are going out to all involved!

Becky - Sounds like you have a very full plate! You have a great attitude about everything, but I'm still putting you and your family in my prayers. Can't hurt, right?

Tammi - Sounds like a fun day! I hate grocery shopping with the kids. Somehow, my food bill is always much higher with little "helpers" along! I go when they're in school or when Alan is home to watch them. I hope Alyssa has a great time at the birthday party.

Deb - Enjoy bowling today. We had our league day yesterday, and suffice it to say, I was not at the top of my game. However, I did bowl better than both my team mates, so that was interesting!

This morning, I'm taking the 4 older kids to the school. It's Jazz Reading Month, here, and all the schools in the state compete to have the most minutes read so that a member of our pro basketball team (Utah Jazz) will come and read to the school. This morning, the school is hosting a read-a-thon complete with a free pancake breakfast. The kids are excited and have picked out their books, gathered pillows and blankets, and are raring to go! Unfortunately, they have to wait for almost an hour. We'll be there for 2 hours and do our part to boost the reading numbers!

After that, we're attempting to muck out our garage. It's really gotten bad, and I'd like to be able to park my van in the garage at some point. If everyone works hard, we'll reward the kids with some gelato.

Timothy seems to be back to normal! He's sleeping better, which means that I'm sleeping better, too.

I hope everyone has a great day! I hope Elizabeth is surviving all the boys at the birthday bash!

Good morning everyone-
Thank you all for the prayers...im searching for some updates now. Im glad I have here to cmoe vent to..

Today, we are off to the shore to visit my grandma for a bit...i hope to be back early afternoon!

Tammi - Sounds like a fun afternoon at the school. Alyssa's party sounds great too. I'm sure she'll have a blast.

Glynis - I love the read-a-thon idea. Sounds like a great morning, especially for your kids! I'm glad that Timothy is feeling better.

Jen - Have a nice visit with your grandma. Please keep us posted on your extended family.

Deb - Hope the boys have good bowling days today!

Good morning, DDA! Thankfully, coffee has helped me wake up a little bit. A chance to sleep either by myself or with my husband was not all it was cracked up to be. Phil did sleep with me, but then Terra came in sometime during the night and I was stuck in a 12" section of the middle. Then Miss Rachel left her alarm on AGAIN when going to spend the night somewhere so it went off at 5:30 waking up Kassie. I went into Rachel's bed with Kassie after that, but I don't think she ever went back to sleep. At 7am she got me up and asked to come downstairs.

With any luck though, I get Chick Fil A breakfast in a little bit. Then Terra and I are hitting Party City. I'm hoping that they still have a closeout pinata that will go with her themes. Oh, even better! I guess I'm going by myself. Terra's too busy playing with Kassie and I already basically know what she wants. Ahhhh, peace, quiet, woohoo!!!!

Jen- :grouphug:

Becky- I am so sorry life is a bit stressful right now but your attitude is the right one. :grouphug:

Amy- I am so sorry all of your kiddos aren't feeling 100% pixiedust:

Vicki- Continued pixiedust: and :grouphug:

Deb- :cheer2::cheer2: :cheer2: to the boys for their great grades!!! Have fun bowling.

Marci- Enjoy your busy Saturday. Good luck to Andrew for his tryouts today.

Tammi- Your day with the kids sounds like a lot of fun.

Chanon- I am glad you and Bob are home safe. :grouphug:

Glynis- Glad Timothy is sleeping better. The read a thon sounds like a great way to spend the morning.

I'm sure I missed some of you, so :grouphug:'s and pixiedust: all around.

I survived yesterday quite well. I think knowing that I was going to be by myself by 5pm was a great incentive to just plug through it.

Gail called me last night around 5 and we decided to run to Target and grab dinner together. It was a fabulous evening and I thoroughly enjoyed just being able to GO!!! Once we got back I helped her set up her Ipod, I've only promised her about 5 months ago that I would do it!! It was not quite the way I planned to spend the evening but fun, no less. I got home about 11 and headed upstairs to lay in bed and read and I also watched a few episodes of Doctor Who. The best part was I didn't get up until 10 this morning!!:cool1:

We're back. Hunter bowled extremely well again. He bowled a 148, 110 and 102. His average is a 94. Colby bowled a 54 and a 51 with a 43 average. Nick bowled about the same numbers as Colby, but his average is much higher :scratchin After bowling we walked around the aquatic center. It is very nice in there. The casual pool area is heated to tropical levels so it was actually hot in there. The competition area was cooler with water temps kept at 82 degrees. The competition pool will also be used for lap swimming. The boys are thrilled with the entire setup and can't wait to try the new slide. There is a tiny lazy river type pool too, but for swimming, not for tubes. The workout area is broken into an area with kinesis and arerobic studio and a separte area with weights and nautilis equipment. It isn't overly big so that may be tricky during busy times. The locker rooms are very roomy. The aquatics coordinator was there and she immediately greeted us when she saw us. She told me that she hopes to have me trained before the end of February. I clearly have a job there. They will need at least 6 guards out at all times so they will need to employ a whole lot of guards. At this point they do not have nearly enough so training must happen sooner than later. My kids were laughing as I'm already working 2 jobs so how can I possibly do 3. :rotfl: :rotfl: We'll make it work somehow as they are all part time jobs.

We also returned our Redbox rentals and got gas. Now we are in for the day. It is cold and very windy out. A good day to be inside :thumbsup2 Chris is working until 1 pm then he will check out the aquatics center on his way home.

We are so excited to have the facility so close to our home. It's only 3 miles so we can pop in and out anytime. Our family, not to mention our community really needed this :thumbsup2 Hunter is already talking aobut joining the swim team and we are all for it. Swimming is terrific exercise and all the boys can benefit from that

I can't believe our trip came up so fast!

Here are a few completed projects that I have done.

Can you believe that I actually made some tshirts for us to wear too?
I *think* that is how I came to find all you wonderful people to begin with!:thumbsup2

I also made a journal for Leighanna to write comments, add photos, autographs, and trinkets in. She will share this with her class when she gets back.

Very nice Tom. I hope the weather is warm enough for you to be able to wear all of your creations without having them covered up with coats!

We're back from the chili cookoff. It was a LOT of fun. There were 22 entries set up around the cafeteria. The PTA hired a DJ, who did an amazing job. My favorite chili didn't have a recipe card to be handed out. I think he was trying to keep it a secret! Almost everyone was dressed up in their black and gold for the Steelers. It's hard to believe there are so many Pittsburgh fans here. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as this is a very transient area. Look at Elin and myself! I'll post a few pictures later, as Alyssa is getting dressed and ready to head off to her tea party. Nicholas and I are going to pick up a movie I reserved from Redbox. Has anyone seen Swing Vote? I think the kids, Nicholas moreso, might find it interesting since he's now familiar with the election process.

Oh, and I just made another $30 from Craigslist!

Well, I didn't get Chick Fil A or to shop by myself, but I did get very yummy BBQ! We got a late start since everyone else was running around so we missed breakfast. Instead, I called in carry out for my favorite bbq and picked it up after Party City. Man, did that hit the spot! Party City yielded only a small amount of things for the party so I guess I had better get to searching. Gotta get some orders in on Birthday Express and another site or two and then do some looking around for favor ideas.

Tom - the outfits are adorable, as usual! I hope you get lots of comments on them!

Tammi - Sounds like a wonderful time at the chili cook off! I've heard good things about Swing Vote. Let me know how it is, ok? I hope you and Nicholas have a good afternoon!

The read-a-thon was a lot of fun! They had yummy pancakes and sausage, and the kids got to sign up for prize drawings. Mary won a fun nerf like racquet ball set. She was very excited!

I was kind of upset with my SIL, though. She brought her 2 youngest kids to a read-a-thon without bringing any books! It was announced all week long to bring books and pillows as the library wouldn't be open. Why would she bring her kids without books????? So, they ran around the cafegymetorium, disturbing all the other kids who had brought books. Grrr!

Now, we are getting ready to go to a museum with the kids. Alan did some work on a Pony Express exhibit there, and we are going to check it out. After that, we are going to stop for some gelato! I can't wait! I've been craving gelato for 2 weeks now!

Great job Tom. wow the dwarf designs were something that I thought up years ago. I see some of the businesses have changed, but the overall design remains the same. We have 7 of those designs on shirts here from a previous trip or two :goodvibes

Sounds like a fun filled day. I hope you enjoy the rest of it.

Colby and I had a nap. He hasn't had one all week and was pretty grumpy today. All in all he has done pretty well with his full day kindergarten though :thumbsup2

Update from Julie:

I just wanted to let you know that the Dr. finally called and the diagnosis is that Jack officially has a big head. He wants to watch the growth and measure monthly, possibly do another ct-scan in 3-4 months but for now we will just do the OT and relax. We are SO relieved (and we are also calling Guinness World Records :) ).

In the meantime Dave's dad is in the Hospital (it's never dull around here) and they did ct scans and an MRI and discovered 2 abnormalities on his brain. Long story short, they are not sure yet what it is, it may just be an infection. They are keeping him, and Dave is really upset. I will let you know what happens.

Chris thinks that he will also like the aquatics center. He did a quick walk through. Nick and Hunter are working on homework. Nick needs to get his social studies report and project finished today in case he needs me to assist. I'm working most of the afternoon/evening tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be home before the superbowl ends though. Did everyone get their 3-D glasses for the commercial? All of our grocery stores were giving them out.
