DDA Chapter 17

I guess we usually have a different outlook. Typical conversations are "oh it's going to snow? I haven't bothered to watch the weather forecast" :rotfl2: 6 - 12" the skiing and sledding should be great. I might have to shovel. Less than 6" no need to shovel, we can easily drive through that :rotfl2:

That's about how we are, so I can't imagine how much more you all take! Amy cracked me up last year when she posted that Cincinnati doesn't get much snow  If she lived about 10 miles farther out of the city in our suburb, she'd sing a different tune perhaps. For the last 6-8 years, we've had at least two snowstorms that produced nearly (or over) a foot. That being said, you wouldn't know it from the highways. People drive like they've never seen the stuff!

We're back from the doctor, and everything looks good. Timothy now weighs 11 pounds 12 oz., and is 23 inches long. He's in the 36% for weights and the 85% for length. Practically perfect! He hated the shots, and gave a cry that I've never heard before. I told Alan that now I know what the "I'm really hurt" cry sounds like. He is asleep now, and hopefully won't have any reactions. I'm all ready with infant's Tylenol on hand, just in case.

Elin - I'm loving your TR. How I wish I could do this with Alan. Maybe someday!

Heidi - We both married good guys. Men who know that to ridicule their wives for being emotional is detrimental to their health.

Anne Marie - I forgot to ask how the offer situation turned out? Was an offer made? Too low? Any good?

Oh my goodness, what a big boy! I hope he doesn't feel too icky from the shots!

Thanks, Elizabeth! I wonder if I could handle it. LOL I might just have to give it a try

It's really fun! I need to experiment with different parts of the train, because sometimes it makes me feel really wonky and other times I feel fine. Unfortunately I never pay attention, so I can't remember which seat I like better! :rotfl2: And I definitely can't go more than two times one after the other.

Glynis - Glad Timothy's check-up went well! :)

When I woke up this morning I was so excited. Kathrin and Kristin were coming!! It is Christmas Eve! :yay:

Bob and I were at breakfast by 7:00 and then got phone calls from both girls. The towncar service had come early to get Kristin and had gotten her to Dulles in record time. Kathrin had decided to try flying AirTran standby out of Boston like we had done earlier in the week. For some reason they didn’t charge her the $40 dollars!

Since the girls were now coming into MCO in the afternoon I called the :sunny: towncar company (whose name I cannot type on here  ) and left a message for theirBob. I asked if he would be able to get both girls from their flights or if Kathrin should wait the hour or so until Kristin’s flight arrived. He said he would see what he could arrange and before we had finished breakfast it was a done deal!

We had a lovely few hours ahead of us and decided to spend it by the pool. So, we put on our suits and made the short walk over there. It wasn’t long before we got a phone call from Kathrin letting us know she was in Orlando and the towncar driver was putting her luggage in the trunk of the car. I swear it was only 20 minutes or so and she was calling again to tell us she was pulling up to the port cochere at POFQ! We went back to the pool and she told us how cold it had been in Boston and how much snow was there when she left this morning. She was reveling in the warm Florida sun. We ordered a beer from Mardi Grog’s pool bar and soon we got another phone call. Kristin had arrived and was getting in the towncar now too! I cannot say enough about :sunny: Towncar Service. They went above and beyond on a very busy day and got our DDs to us in record time and with a smile. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone!

We all sat around the pool talking and drinking for a little while longer and then decided we needed something to eat. Food Court here we come… again! The girls split a chicken taco salad and Bob and I split the beef taco salad again.

The girls’ room was ready and it was the one connected to ours! :yay: So we went back so they could freshen up and rest a bit. The three of us were going to go to the MK for the Castle Lighting that night and Bob would meet us at Cape May for dinner. Well, as soon as we got into the rooms the two of them decided that time was a’wastin’ and we needed to go to Epcot. So, we did! The only rides we did were Spaceship Earth and Nemo but it was nice just to be back there together. We hopped the monorail over to the MK and watched the Castle Lighting again. I insisted on PhotoPass which they HATE but you would never know if from all the smiles in our pictures. We called Bob and told him we were leaving the MK and he left POFQ to drive over to the BC. We got there at the same time and checked in a little early for our 8:45 ADR. We knew it would be a while so we went to Martha’s Vineyard Lounge for a drink. There was no one there but us so we had a lovely time talking and relaxing. In about 15 minutes or so the buzzer went off and we were seated. It was a decent meal. Our server was horrible. But we had a good time despite his lack of attention. :rotfl2:

After dinner we went back to POFQ and opened a bottle of wine for the girls and me and a couple of beers for Bob and just enjoyed being together. They were running out of steam and begged off doing anything else that night. We made an early night of it because Santa Claus is coming tonight and he knows when you’re awake! :santa:

I'm enjoying the TR too, Elin!

On EE is it a fast take off one like RnR? I can't handle those ones, they play with my equilibrium for 2 days and I'd rather not spend the small amount of time I do have being dizzy all day. LOL

Thanks, Kelli :)

No, the take-off is not like RnR. Think BTMRR on crack... :hyper:

I could totally do it alone, but since it would be coming out of his paycheck, I'm afraid I'd feel guilty about going without him. Of course, if he's with me, I feel guilty about purchasing anything. Oh well. I get over it really quickly.

:rotfl2:

One day I would really like to take a completely solo trip. I think I would like it. I have done entire days at both WDW and DL alone and had a wonderful time. And I probably wouldn't buy anything either. ;)

I have an old friend from HS who lives in the Cincinnati area and he told me he has a lot of snow today. His offices were closed!

You forget I used to live in the Lake Erie snowbelt! This is nothin'! :rotfl:

Thanks, Kelli :)

I like that Elin! :teeth:

I rode EE for the first time this trip, too. I sat with a young boy, maybe 6 years-old, who spoke no English. His parents were in front of us and his siblings behind us. He had his arms up the whole time (as did I) and when we got to the part where it goes in reverse, he got the most mischievious grin and gestured his thumb to the back of the car. He was adorable! :)

I agree, but you said your child didn't have SNOWBOOTS for lack of snow! It's not like you're in Texas still! :rotfl:

I do often forget though, how different it is inside the beltway. You honestly don't get near the snow we do, and you've lived in Sharonville for as long as I know you've lived in Cincinnati! :)

Thanks for posting pictures of Timothy, Glynis! I hope he doesn't have a reaction of any of his shots today.

Elin, great trip report. Thanks for sharing with us!

If you all could spare some pixiedust: for Julie. Jack has to have a cat-scan on Thursday. He's 9-months-old now, and the doctors are worried there might be some fluid in his brain, since his head is measuring a bit large and he's not sitting up yet. Hopefully, it's nothing a little occupational therapy can't take care of, but they want to be sure. As you can imagine, the anticipation has Julie pretty anxious. Thanks!

Oh, that scares me as a former Peds Neuro nurse. I hope it's absolutely nothing! Please pass along my good wishes to her, and keep us posted! :grouphug:

I'm glad that he is growing well and took the shots okay.

The ride is designed around the center row rather than the front or back. We learned that on our little tour. I think it is row 9 if I remember correctly.

I did buy Matty some boots this season, so I was happy to see some snow today. We were cheated though...we only got about 3 inches and it's lousy packing snow. The kids are still coughing and sniffling, so I think we were outside for a whopping 30 minutes (Noah was napping). Kevin made fun of me when he realized I put five pairs of socks on both Alyssa and Matty. :teeth:

Kevin just got this email from Duke Energy:

The weather forecast continues to worsen. We are expecting ice beginning this evening and continuing throughout the night. Estimated accumulations of 0.25"-0.75" are (possible) expected, which could result in a Level 4 storm category, our highest storm designation. Duke Energy has initiated a number of steps in preparation of the inclement weather.
