DDA Chapter 17

We think so! We really needed a new bed, so I'm happy with it. The rest of the money will go to paying down the credit card debt. Our plan is to have all our credit card debt paid off by summer. It looked like that might not happen, but we just found out that Alan's biggest freelance client has not cut their budget for Alan, so he'll be getting the same amount as he always has. Woohoo! That makes me so happy. Once we get the credit card debt out of our hair, the only debt we'll have is for our house. Somehow, it feels so freeing to be so close to no debt!

That is a wonderful feeling. We are working toward that ourselves though it sounds like you will be there first :thumbsup2 A new bed sounds wonderful. I'm sure that your body really appreciates that after being pregnant.

With all this snow talk, I decided to look at our forecast. I hadn't really paid attention to anything past yesterday. We have a winter storm watch in effect for Tuesday night and Wednesday. We'll have to see if that turns into anything. It's Regents exam week here in NYS, and the local districts don't like to cancel if they can avoid it. I don't think they are allowed to cancel elementary and middle schools and still have the high school exams either. There are no re-takes on Regents exams. The next time to take them would be June. Matthew and Laura have only local exams this time, so I don't have to worry personally about canceled exams. I hope that the weather stays away from us. We may have used all three of our scheduled snow days, too, and I don't want to have to work during Easter break which is when they would make them up.

Miles has a book recommendation. Well, he recommended that I read it, so I thought I'd pass it along even though I haven't had a chance to start it yet. It's called Ulysses Moore: The Door to Time. The library website lists it for grades 4-6, though Miles said it was an easy read. I looked it up, and there are a couple of other books in the series. He told me that it has some codes and puzzles in it, and it's kind of a mystery/fantasy book.

Speaking of books, my coloring book (including cover) is done!

Sounds like a great deal all around! Enjoy the new bed. I find myself really looking forward to sleeping in my bed again. It won't be big and fancy (though I'm considering making a fabric headboard for it myself), but I do like my mattress.

I've been outed! :scared1:

Marci - I'm jealous of the fireworks show. All I got was a glass of sparkling cider and some Wii.

Bob just called. Grandpa Joe (his father's father) just passed away. Funeral is on Thursday.

Chanon so sorry for your loss:hug:

From Aidan's Care Page:

Well it seems Aidan's G-button is leaking again, but this was suppose to be semi-permanent. This has resulted in some bad irritation on his skin around the stoma. At the moment they are treating it like Jock Itch with some Anti-Fungal powder, but maybe his GI will prescribe something more effective. Over all the family is in good health with a few sniffs and sneezes. We are getting closer and closer to our date with Ariel and all her friends. Thanks for all of your continued prayers and support this has been a crazy two years and I can't believe we will be celebrating a second birthday in a little over a month.

One exciting point is that Aidan has decided to try eating a few Fruit Loops. It's only been like four at a time, but that is quite a bit more then he has ever done in the past. Naomi continues to push the feeding issue and is a wonderful mother, focused on getting him to take food orally.

We have also started a blog, which I can't remember if I shared with everyone. The site is http://angelfootstepssilent.blogspot.com/

It does duplicate a few posts here, but we will try and add more as things become more exciting with the family. It's a place that we will share our family info with and not just focus on our Prince.

Elin, I forgot to thank you for the adorable e-birthday card. Alyssa and I have watched it several times. :goodvibes

Jen, your card arrived today. The nerve of the postman, not delivering it in one day! :rotfl: Thank you!

I appreciate hearing the DDA's input about the hitting situation. I know Matthew gets frustrated easily (he's a hot-head like his mama!) and though, he can verbalize well, often Alyssa doesn't listen to him, which is typically when he resorts to smacking her. Of course, there are just times that she ticks him off, too. ;) Usually the times he's swinging at Kevin and me is when we are in the process of putting him in time-out for another offense.

He's testing his boundaries left and right, and we're trying our best to remain calm (not easy...did you read I was a hot-head? ) and consistent. There are days I feel badly that he's not the "baby" anymore, and we make every effort to spend individual time with all the kiddos.

Thanks for the new motto, Elizabeth. He's now walking around saying, "Hand are for helping, not hitting." Matty's a good mimic...now perhaps, he'll take those words to heart!

I hope everyone feels better soon! Thanks again!

Ok, back to the preschool book. I just needed a small sanity break. :) I think that the hardest pages are completed, so it should go much easier now. I'm making a counting coloring book. We used to always have a book of blank sheets. We'd help the children write the number and then count out the correct number of stickers on it. The director thinks that the stickers are too expensive, and my co-teacher thinks it was too time-consuming (they are both kind of right), so I was asked to create a book that we can still help them write the number but then they will count the items and color instead of using the stickers. Since we're having beach day this week, I'm trying to make it beach/ocean themed.

sounds cute

Amy - It usually takes awhile for the lesson to sink in. If you can grab his hand while it is still moving and say "STOP! NO hitting!" in your most stern Mommy voice it might speed things along.

Glynis - Enjoy your new mattress! Ours isn't that old, but it isn't that comfortable, either! It is really hard to test out a mattress in the store and know if it will be comfy at home.

The potential buyer is still pushing to come to my house to make their offer.:headache: I told my realtor Dana could come to the realty office & they can offer it there. I don't need that type of pressure with my kids in the house. Sooooo stressful!!!

Someone wanted to show the house today but I declined...I was dying my hair (too many grays! ) & the house stinks!:crazy2:
pixiedust: I hope it is not as bad of an offer as we all are fearing since they are wanting to make it to you in person.

Yeah, I'm not expecting instant results, but I definitely don't want to see this transform into a much bigger problem. I hardly even witness when he hits Alyssa, because it usually happens when they are playing in her room, where I'm sure she's being quite bossy about HER toys. Of course, she tattles on him, but he's always honest ("Mommy I hit Alyssa two times...once on her arm and once on her head."). I will have to work on my own speed...he managed to make contact with me two times this weekend. Thanks again!

Ah yes, Rock Band. Must not ever have too much to drink after telling everyone I absolutely would not ever sing.
:lmao: :lmao:

So Terry when can you come over? I have alcohol and I could make jello shots if that helps. Maybe Elizabeth would come and sing too? ;)

I'm more than half done cleaning my room. I've moved most of the furniture. Wow, the dust really collects :scared: At least my room will be clean and germ free when we go to bed tonight. I should clean the master bath too :scared:

I'll be right up:lmao: :lmao: BUT I will not, I repeat not sing!!!! :rotfl:

I don't sing. My cousin said her BIL claims all you have to do is sort of hum with varied pitch and it will "think" you are singing. Let me know if that works out for you guys! :rotfl2:

Bedroom and Masterbath are clean. I just need to put laundry away and make the bed. Hopefully that will take care of the sickies. I'm still feeling good so that is a good sign.
