DDA Chapter 17

So my friend asked me to post some playgroup pictures from CA and I realized that I had never pulled up our Photopass pictures. There aren't many, but here they are...

DL Christmas
Those are wonderful. I kind of chuckled to see the characters in their warm clothing and Terra in her jacket. I think of California as being hot all the time :goodvibes

I've had no luck finding a Lifeguard course closeby. I did find a course an hour away, but it is this coming Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 Am-5PM each day and the price is $375. If the Redcross can't find one I think I'll see if the aquatics center will pay the fee. Otherwise I will probably wait for the course at the center in March.

Oh it is! Thanks Deb. He has always been sickly (& too skinny). So I worry about him terribly.

You're preaching to the choir on that one. He sounds just like Hunter. We have a follow up on Wednesday for him.

Ann Marie glad that everything is good with Daniel.

I guess that I should get dinner in the oven and head off to work. Oh I'd better wake up Colby soon too. He fell asleep in his beanbag chair a while ago.

Becky its snowing here still/again too. I have given up on trying to measure it, cause its been a very light fluffy snow that blows around easy, but I don't think we will thaw out until June.

My favorite was the warm clothing Tink. I'll have to post it later. Granted it wasn't terribly cold. I wore a short sleeve shirt and sweatshirt all day just fine. Terra only had her coat as a warm option. Now this is also about as cold as it gets there. I think we had about low 50s that day, but being wet too it felt cooler. The rest of the week we were playing in pants and a combo of long and short sleeves, no jackets.

Tia, Terra is so cute! Love all of the character pics! :goodvibes

Her goofy smiles and faces were cracking her up when we looked at the pictures. Since the baby seems to be back to sleep already, I'll try to get some of my pictures up on photobucket in a minute.

I am so glad I did not have to work today. The roads are horrible, there are accidents all over and it is wall to wall traffic all over. It would be taking me forever to get home.

My dad and I just got back from booking our alaska trip and the roads are pretty bad here too---there are accidents everywhere i looked!

We like DL but it's no WDW. I love Indiana Jones, but can't handle California Screamin'. LOL It leaves me dizzy for 2 days. LOL Congrats on the baby, I obviously have been gone a while, I didn't know you were pregnant. :p

Well, the baby was a surprise for us, as well! A welcome one, but a surprise nonetheless! So, we now have 3 girls and 2 boys. I promise I'll post some new pictures as soon as Alan gets iPhoto put back on my computer.

I love the one of Terra on Santa's laugh & her mouth is open!

Well apparantly we are not covered for contacts for Katie til 2010. So she had to get new glasses, her perscription changed alittle so she needed new ones anyway. She is now sulking that she cannot get contacts. Such drama!

Nick and I stopped by the aquatic center to fill out a membership form to make sure that we have a membership reserved when it finally opens. They have a trailer outside that is the current office. I mentioned that I had applied for a lifeguard/WSI position, but hadn't heard anything. Oddly enough, the lady that I was talking to was the aquatics director. She asked me a few question then told me I was hired :rotfl: :rotfl: Of course she hasn't even seen my application. I just emailed it directly to her so hopefully I'll hear back. I'm not sure if she was serious or not, though she said she was. They are hoping to do a lifeguard course within the next couple of weeks. I guess I might have a job. I told her I was most interested in mornings which is what she was hoping for and she was pleased to see an older person applying. I guess she has lots of 16 year old that are interested. I told her that I have a degree in Small Business Management and she said that I just keep getting better and better. :goodvibes Like I said I'll believe it when I have an official offer, but it certainly has me hopeful. It would be nice to actually have a job fall into my lap for once. And I would get a free membership if I work at least 20 hours each week. I'm not sure if that is an individual membership or family, but it is a start anyway.

Deb, this could be so cool for your family! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Here is my email response to my application:

It was great meeting you this morning. I definitely want to hire you for both lifeguarding and swim instruction. Right now we need to get you certified if you want to look at the Red Cross course offerings that would be the quickest way. Because you have not been certified in a while you would need to take the whole course. We will be offering it but not until end of March.

I guess I'd better make some phone calls.

WOOHOO!!!!

So, how hard is it to get certified?

Sorry about the contacts. :sad2:
We bought 2 pairs of glasses for DS last year. An expensive pair and a cheap pair to be his back-ups. The expensive ones have been bent several times - the first time was when he got hit in the face with the tire swing. Now he says they won't hold their shape and he refuses to wear them. I need to pull the warranty and see what it says. I know there is a "co pay" for replacement under the warranty, so I might be better off just waiting a few weeks and getting a new pair covered by the 2009 insurance. He can get a new pair every year, and he goes to the eye Dr. the first week of Feb.

It's kind of the same deal with his uniforms. Last year he ONLY wanted white shirts and navy pants. This year he ONLY wants black shirts and khaki pants. But he decides these things AFTER I have already bought the other stuff! If I knew he was going to wear the cheap glasses all year I wouldn't have gotten the expensive ones! I think he has used the sunglass attachment maybe 3 times, and that really boosted the cost up.

Bernadette the outfits & shirt look great :thumbsup2

Theresa glad you are feeling better!

I hope as I read on that you did get the job pixiedust:

Thank you for all the comments on the weight loss, the house, & Daniel.
Thankfully the Dr. said that Daniel's heart is fine!:cool1: He had an EKG & an Echo & all is good. The Cardiologist said that this type of pain on the left side is common in kids & that is growing pains & also by pinched nerves. Either way he is healthy.

We just got in from grocery shopping. It was nice to have 3 other sets of (little) hands to help me in with the bags.

Great news about Daniel!

Are they still in infant seats? I have one of those car seat bags. The thing is HUGE. I wonder if you could fit 2 car seats in one bag?

I used to send a box UPS to the resort with extra clothes and things. It really helped as DH isn't a good traveler.

Ooh, this reminds me. I read on one of the Disney blogs to which I subscribe (can't remember which) that Disney is most likely going to start charging to store shipped items such as this. It seems more and more people (read: too many) are doing it after the airlines started charging for extra bags, and they just can't swing it for free anymore.

Just as a heads up, I know several of you have done this! We usually get water shipped there, but that's all.
