DDA Chapter 17

Gary has been in bed all day only to get up to go to the bathroom. I know he has not eaten, but I don't think he has drank anything either. Hopefully with all the sleep he will be much better tomorrow.

I got the tree downstairs & brought up the cat carrier. All the cats freak because they know it means a trip to the vet.

Garrett told me last night he will be going to the Sweetheart Swirl at school. The girls are suppose to ask the guys & the girl that Garrett has known for 3 years asked him. He says they are just friends ;) Anyway he said she is wearing a black dress with shiney sparkles on it & now needs to shop for something to wear. At 1st he said he wanted a tux! I told he I did not think this dance was that formal, but if he goes to prom I will get him one.

I think we have a sick cat :guilty: Blue, our Himalayan has been wheezing when she breathes & coughs like she has a fur ball but nothing comes up. I am thinking she has some upper respiratory problems. I called the vet & will drop her off in the morning.

Please send some pd that it is nothing serious & hopefully something medicine can take care of.

I hope Blue feels better soon!

pixiedust: for Pearl!

I hope Pearl feels better soon, too!

Debbie I hope they can straighten out your meds. I'm actually surprised that you numbers are going up as you are watching your diet and exercising. Usually that helps in itself :wizard:

Debbie, good luck with the meds!! pixiedust:

Flat Stanley has received his new outfit. I scanned him into photoimpact and gave him a parka, snowpants, boots hat and mittens. He is now dressed to go outside with us. Now I just need to remember him and my camera.

I got called in to sub tomorrow morning. It shouldn't be too bad. I'll work at school in the morning and at the restaurant at night.

HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY GLYNIS!

Poor Gary.

Garrett should be fine in a suit coat and a nice shirt (maybe a tie too). I can't wait to see pics. :goodvibes

It has been awfully quiet in DDAland all day. That means I actually got all of the laundry done. :rotfl2: Tomorrow is kitchen day. :thumbsup2

I would think a nice shirt and tie with dress pants would be suitable around here. I don't think many boys have suit coats these days.

If you can find a suit coat though it can work at prom. Around here most of the boys have one suit coat that gets used and re-used......of course they all have to wear them for concerts. Some of them already have their own tux coats (which if you have to rent more than twice it is cheaper to buy).

Whatever he ends up getting I am sure Garrett will look handsome.

How many days does it take to do Cedar Point? What other things are around there to do?

Well, i think im headed to bed..i dont have to teach tomororw, but am going to observe at another school--BUT i dont have to be there til 9-930!! yay :)
Have a great night!

Bernadette and Tom - great sewing
Thanks but I feel funny being mentioned with Tom. I think mine is sewing but his are creations!

Alrighty, I've got some DL pictures uploaded.
Loved all your photos!!!

I have decided, I think with some finality, that we will take our infant seats and gate-check them.
I've got to agree that this is the best way to go.

Those are adorable! How do you go about cutting out the letters? Do you just copy a font onto the back of the material?
Thanks! I use a fusible web called Heat N Bond that is a sheet of adhesive with a paper backing. I traced the letters onto the paper (mirror image) then iron the adhesive & paper onto the fabric, cut out the letter, peel off the paper and now you have a shaped piece of fabric that is fusible to iron onto the T-shirt. Then I use a stabilizer product that goes on the inside of the T to keep it from stretching out. After you sew around the edges you pull off the stabilizer.

I went back to JoAnn's to get more of that Pooh fabric to make me some PJ's!

The boys mini vacation is over, back to school today! Well Garrett at least, Riley has thrown up 3 times since he went to bed last night. I hate calling him out, but I don't want to send him in either.

The school probably will not be to happy, but what can you do :guilty:
Doesn't the school have a 24 hours without vomiting rule? Hope he's all better now and that Gary is better soon too!

I am still plugging away at my diet, so far 22 lbs. gone, many more to go. I have started drinking water instead of soda. I am sure that at least 20 lbs. of that was all the water being flushed out of my system. I am sure I won't see those numbers again.
Congrats!!!!!

Ick! See I've heard gross stories about rental cars, but we ALWAYS use National's Emerald Aisle, regardless of prices elsewhere. Not once have we driven a car with more than 5000 miles, that looked as if it had rolled off the lot brand new. That's probably shaping my opinion, I'm sure! I've never had a gross rental car -- I've always given it up sadly, wishing it were mine! :teeth: The same is true for when we've rented National cars elsewhere.
The first time I used the Emerald Aisle was Lizzy's first trip and I was 6 months pregnant with Emma. We picked a car, got the luggage in and her car seat in and her strapped in and I couldn't fit behind the wheel because the seat was too close and I couldn't get in to move it. My friend tried to move the seat but couldn't so we got a National guy to help us and he said the car was dead and walked away. I was annoyed that he didn't help with the luggage anything. I would try to start the car before installing your 2 car seats just to be safe!

I am in the middle of a funk that I can't seem to get myself out of. I haven't heard from the gentleman about the job so I am going to guess I don't have it and there is just some other things flying around here that I just can't escape from.
:grouphug: Did you call about the job?

I remember planning naptime into our trip ONCE. It didn't work out at all. The kids would fall asleep in the stroller before we planned to be back at the resort. They'd wake up when trying to get them back and would not nap at all while at the resort. After a couple of days we gave up and let them take naps in their stroller whenever they wanted. Of course they were taking naps at different times, but we stayed in the parks and made the most of it. We never schedule breaks anymore, but we will take them improptu if we feel the need.
:thumbsup2 I liked when the kids would nap in their stroller-it would force me to slow down and just chill and enjoy the atmosphere of whatever park I was in.

Lucy has another double ear infection. Her last one being the day after Christmas. Of course, her pediatrician was closed today for the inauguration. So we went to urgent care. Thankfully, Lucy has her 18 month check up next week so I'll be pushing for tubes.
Hope Lucy is all better now!

Stephanie – today was not a day of inconvenience for me. Today was a day of public safety, ensuring your friends, and millions of others like them from around this nation got to view, firsthand, the history of today safely. With that came issues that Joe Citizen would not even begin to comprehend. Things like how do we get 3 million people in and out of our nation’s Capital with limited resources, how do we move those 3 million people on our metro system, that can only accommodate 125,000 people per hour, what are we going to do with all of the cars that are trying to park at a metro lot that only has 5,000 parking spaces, how are we going to ensure that in the mobs of people someone isn’t going to get pushed onto the train track (which at least one person that I know of got hit by a train, causing that track to become shut down), how are we going to control the millions of people on the Mall area after the swearing in is over and they all want to leave at once, deal suspicious packages reported at metro stations as well as a car left parked at a station with the engine running and no one around (suspicious? you betcha!), plus all of the credible threat reports (just because they weren’t broadcast doesn’t mean there weren’t any), among a myriad of other issues. As you all watched the events of today unfold, I’m sure you saw the hundreds of police officers lining the streets of DC. There were hundreds more that you didn’t see, either on rooftops, in the crowds undercover, or in vehicles. Those officers came from all over the country and were deputized to assist for today. Yes, hundreds of officers. Millions of people. Not a good ratio. All of the officers had an incredible job to do, with little sleep, little opportunity for food and facilities, in freezing temps and wind chills, some unruly crowds, all with a smile on their face to ensure our visitors had a memorable time. So no, I wouldn’t call it an inconvenience. I would call it a huge challenge, to make sure everyone (to include all my brothers and sisters) made it home safely. I’m very proud to say, for the most part, we succeeded.

It’s been a very long, stressful, cold, and tiring day. I’m going to go relax and try to get some sleep. Here’s a huge :grouphug: and some :wizard: for all.
WOW! I can't even imagine what a challenge that must have all been.

I knew he would be handsome!!!!

I may be going to WDW in early March, as airfare has dropped in price. But am not sure yet. Why am I so indecisive??:confused3 I need to check my work schedule first. I would need to find a place to stay. I would also need a rental car as I would not be flying into MCO. I have a few days left on a ticket, but am not sure how many.
Are you going?

My baby is 23 today, seems like just yesterday she was three, where did the last 20 years go?
Mine was 6.

Well, our management team evaluated all the full time employees, ranking them from first to last, the bottom three will be cut back to part time.

I'm not supposed to know about this, but being the office manager I often "see" things that I'm really not supposed to. I definitely don't agree with the rankings, and of the three cut back I only agree with one, I feel like personal favoratism played a big part in their decisions instead of actual performance. :sad2:
That stinks!!!!

Bernadette - I mailed Joe's quarters today. :)
THANKS!!!!!

Tom and Bernadette, your creations are amazing!
Thanks!

I had WW last night and am down another 4lbs since last week. Only 4 more pounds and I'll be under 200. I haven't seen that since right after Emma was born and I think it lasted a month or 2 maybe. I am determined to keep plugging along.
Congrats on your approach to onederland!!!!

The ski boots arrived this morning. They are a perfect, comfortable fit. I've never put on a pair that were so comfortable. I guess I lucked out. I told Chris that if I had walked into a store and had them fit my feet to a pair of brand new boots they could have easily put me in these. I really do think that they have never been worn based on condition and fit :cool1: Now I just need to adjust my bindings to fit them. Hopefully they are close in size to my old boots then I can make the adjustments with a screwdriver instead of taking them somewhere to have it done.
That's great!

Thank you for your compliments on our pictures. :goodvibes I think I've sent a "share" email to everyone who requested one. That site gives me fits...I'm so glad Kevin is in charge of adding borders, etc.

Things are a bit wonky in my household. Everyone is still tired from our trip, but now with the coughing and runny noses, no one is sleeping soundly. Matty was an absolute terror as we were trying to pick up Alyssa and the other little girl I take to and from school. Needless-to-say, I put him straight down for a nap, but I can hear him talking and kicking the wall upstairs.

Alyssa and I are going to have a nice girls-only lunch in a few minutes. :)

I hope you are all feeling good (or better!) and having a good day! :grouphug:
I wanna see them!!!!! Hope you all feel better soon!!!

Thanks to everyone for your birthday wishes! They have brightened my day!

Today's "Presents" actually started last night. The night before last, Timothy woke up every single hour during the night. Finally, at 2:00 a.m. I brought him into bed with me, and he dozed for 20 minutes at a time, then wanted to eat. Consequently, by morning I was exhausted. I was looking forward to napping, but with Leslie sick, that didn't happen. Well, Alan got home from work and informed me that he had a business meeting. I guess I looked at exhausted as I felt, because he took Timothy with him. That meant that after I got the kids down at 8:30, I was free to go to bed. Which I did! I didn't even hear Alan and Timothy come in! Timothy didn't wake up until 2:30 this morning, then he ate, and went back down until 6:30.

Katie got up early, and with Alan's help, they made pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast. I was so touched with Katie wanting to cook for me! After breakfast, the kids all got themselves ready for school without arguing. Definitely the best present so far! There have been whispered conversations about something that will happen tonight, but I don't know what it is. Alan is taking me out for dinner tomorrow night, so tonight will be a family celebration!

Congratulations to all those losing weight!!!! I'm not focusing on losing, but I am working out on the Wii every day. It seems to be helping my balance!

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes!
Happy Birthday Glynis!!!!! I can't imagine a better gift sleep!

Poor Blue!pixiedust:

I think Pearl is sick too...so I'll send some pixie dust flying your way. I forgot to get our vet's name from Jim so I could call them to make an appt. Our poor kitties.
Poor Pearl!pixiedust:

DS is in a bit of a sticky situation. :guilty:
Apparently in PE some days the coaches play each other in one-on-one basketball while the kids watch. Apparently some of the kids have been betting on the games. They have been betting with the coaches, and money is changing hands. One of the asst. principals called DS down to the office today to ask him what goes on in PE. DS told him. (DS swears he has never bet on the games. We don't allow him to take money to school, but I suppose he could sneak it and we wouldn't know.)
After school DS was on his way to Band and the coaches stopped him and asked him why he got called to the office. They kept pressing him for more info and he told them he was being questioned about PE. :sad2:

I am going to call the asst. principal in the morning and see what is going on. He also needs to know that the coaches know DS tattled on them. :scared:

ay yi yi! I am going to guess the Asst. Principal was suspicous of the betting and just needed confirmation from somebody who has been seen there.

Hope it turns out fine for DS.

The asst. principal told DS that he had heard reports of some strange things happening in PE, and he wanted to ask DS about what went on in the class.

Here's the fleece hoodie I made Lizzy. I found the Pooh fleece as a remnant on Black Friday. Now it can be nice and warm when we go to Disney. My countdown is wrong. I only have 5 days. I never fixed it after I added a night with the 7 for 4 deal. I'm a bit :scared1: and a lot :yay: I'm so excited to be returning to the Poly!!!

Yikes! A sticky situation indeed. I wouldn't want PE coaches mad at me-I always hated PE enough without that kind of mess!

Lizzy will love it. She may need more than just a fleece with the current Florida temperatures.

Not since last week. We all have eaten out of that jar, so I am assuming it is ok.

I think you are OK if you are eating peanut butter. The last report is that they are looking at peanut paste, not butter. It is what goes into cookies and pastries and ice cream and granola bars and stuff like that. I hope Gary is feeling better very soon.
