For all of those sickies:wizard: :wizard: that you will feel better soon!!

Elizabeth maybe you could have a stepchild that is older than you that you could claim :confused3 :rotfl:

We were talking about this and thought the same thing initially.... but your child (or step child, or adopted child, or whatever) can only be claimed until they are 18 (or 20-something, in some cases with school, etc).... you'd have to be married at like 16, and have an 18 year old step child for that to work! :rotfl:

The other thing we came up with is adopting a special needs adult, but then you should get assistance anyway :confused3

Have you noticed that food container sizes are getting smaller but prices are staying the same or getting higher?? I've noticed that with bread, chips, and cereal to name a few...
Have you seen ice cream! It is a full 25% smaller! No longer a half gallon. Now it is 3 pints!

Anyone watching the championship game? I'm so torn, and have little interest. Still, it's college football .... so we're watching.

Can't you still claim them if you claim head of household & they are not claiming themselves(if they did not work)?

I woke up this morning to see a 40% off code in my email, I have never received one of these before! I am so tickled, maybe this is a sign & we can still make something work :goodvibes
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

See, that's what DH and I were talking about, too. But it would have to be some really super bizarre situation because otherwise everybody would be a minor.
If you were married at 16 you could have an older step-child, but you wouldn't be allowed to adopt the step-child because you would still be a minor. I can not see a way to make a child who is older than you be your legal dependent unless they are a full time student and you legally adopt them after one of their parents reliquishes rights. Meaning the parent would have to be 18 (at LEAST). And how whacked out would a judge have to be to approve that? If you are the natural parent and have custody along with your new spouse I fail to see how that language is even necessary.
Step-parents don't have any automatic rights to a child through marriage, correct? It's very confusing!

Good. So now when I eat the entire container it isn't quite so bad!

Only until age 18, unless they are a full time student. If they are 18 and not in school you can't claim them, even if they don't work.

That's why I qualified that it extends a few years in some cases, when they're in college, etc.... different for every family, but still not likely that you're step-mom is younger than you before you claim yourself! ;)

thanks she woke up for a few minutes at moms and said she wanted some chicken. She had some chicken nuggets left over from Mcd's on wed. she ate 1 then about 20 mins later up it came. we are home now and she is asleep on the couch next to me,

You know what? The definition of "Qualifying child" is WAAAYYYY more broad than we thought it was.

From page 20, a child is your "son, daughter, stepchild, foster child, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, or a descendant of ANY of them (grandchild, niece, nephew)". HOLY COW! No wonder!

So if they are ANY of those things and:

Under age 19 at the end of 2008 AND
did not provide over half his or her own support AND
lived with you for more than half of 2008

then they are your dependent child! :scared1:

Jennifer hope Olivia feels better soon :wizard:

Jennifer & Vicki sorry to hear the party is now being held at a different park, hopefully they will have a lot of neat things going on!

thanks Janet, and I hope the rest of us don't get whatever she has

But it would still be hard to be younger than them, to where they felt the need to clarify! :)

Jennifer - my kids just fell in love with your girls! They came up behind me as I was reading and saw the picture in your sig. The word Nicholas used was "adorable" and Alyssa likes their little feet. :goodvibes: So I went into your picasa album and we went through a bunch of pictures together. They are now familiar with you, Kyle, the girls, Cassie, and your dog. They don't remember when we bumped into you and Kyle in Fantasyland. I guess it was just too short a meeting.

Back to my photopass issue. I scanned and uploaded our drawings that we did at the Animation Academy, Goofy and Minnie. Then I included them in the photobook. Do you think that could be the problem? I would have never thought. :confused3 I did receive and email from someone named Heather, stating that they received my email and that someone would follow up with me in a few days.

You absolutely never know with them. :confused3
There is an anecdote in the UG where some guys took their shirts off to ride Splash and their ride photo was deleted because they were shirtless, yet they were able to have photos taken by PhotoPass at the water park with no shirts. Like everything else, the answer will change depending on who you ask.

It was very short, next time we'll have to make it longer! :goodvibes
