DDA Chapter 16

Being popular in itself is not a bad thing. It's what some of them do to be/stay popular. It's also the group that they are popular in. Cassidy definitely sounds like a kid who has her head in the right place.

Laura definitely has an interest in boys, but these girls can't seem to go through life without having a boyfriend (even if they change them regularly).

Some of the other things are just differing priorities and not necessarily good/bad...just not the same as ours. You should have seen the production they put on for Snowball last year. That was when Laura and the girls had pretty much already split but us mothers kept trying to get them back together, so we did much of the Snowball stuff with them. It just wasn't the taste, style, or level of expenditure that we are comfortable with. That doesn't mean they are wrong, it just shows that we are different. They have different attitudes towards "needing" the latest fashions, etc.

Cassidy is so excited for prom!! They have changed it from the Natural History Museum (which is where my horrid Senior Prom was) to the Zoo. None of Cassidy's boyfriends would ever be considered great catch material (not popular, handsome/cute by regular standards) but most have been good kids (except pink stocking capped boy) with their heads on their shoulders...looking at the girls and not their bra sizes.

Cassidy's best buds are the band director's daughter and a varsity pom girl who became a marching band techie (lead one after a nasty keying a car incident) just so she could spend more time with them. I can't imagine what trouble these three disney loving kids could get into.

I am blessed (as it seems you are Beth) that I have a kid who is mature and good decision maker.

What about the little fountain outside Tinker Bell's Treasures? Is it still there? Wouldn't it be perfect for two little girls?

ETA: The one I am thinking of allows you to change your position so that there is a crown on her head. Does that ring a bell with anyone? You can tell my baby is 22!

I know the one you are talking about :thumbsup2

Tammi-I hope your photopass issues resolve quickly!

That sounds like a fun place to have a prom! Yes, I consider myself very blessed, because I certainly haven't done anything special. I just lucked into really great kids.

Oh great! I just found out that the UCA High School Nationals Cheer leading Competition is the first weekend in February.:cheer2: Most values and mods are said to being booked.

I think most of them are staying at the All Star resorts, and some overflow into CBR. Hopefully POP will stay relatively cheerleader free!

I don't mind cheerleaders, heck Leighanna wants to be one, but I can only imagine the noise that will be created by all these kids!

So goes thinking that Feb. would be a quiet time to enjoy the parks!

I am sure that with their competitions and schedules, that we probably won't feel the effects until later in the evenings. We should still be fine!

Being a cheerleader mom and traveling to Disney for competitions a few times with my girls, I can tell you that you most likely won't be bothered by them at all. UCA cheerleaders a VERY serious about competition, they will be practicing before the competition, and they will also have a curfew. The competition will probably be held at Wide World of Sports, ours were. Leighanna would probably really enjoy watching the competitions if she's interested in cheering.

Frivolous topic, but would anyone like to help me brainstorm?

We like to mark the kids' growth next to a Magic Kingdom icon on each trip. Alyssa's spot is Minnie's chair and Matty's spot is the Roy and Minnie bench. Any ideas for Noah? I know we rejected Goofy's bench (June's spot), because it's not always there.

Thanks in advance. :)

I think the play area at Splash is pretty cute, you may want to check it out.

Tammi - I hope you get your photopass issues worked out soon.

Speaking of photopass, I never even looked at our November ones,:scared1:
and I need to look for the card from this trip, it's only two pictures but I wanted one at the Osborne lights.

Well, we bought some Powerball plays for the Florida lottery on our way home, looks like we won't be retiring anytime soon. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Better luck next time. . . . . .

John had a scratchy throat and stuffiness last night and by this afternoon it was full blown in his chest. He is quite miserable but not complaining and he was smart enough to start the antibiotics that we had on hand.

not the brightest bulbs are they??

Cassidy is fairly popular (at least by this wallflower's estimate) but would never, ever stoop to the levels some of these other ummmmmm...girls (and some guys) go to to : a) be popular and b) stay popular. She finally has a boyfriend (after almost a year of being boyfriendless) and is definitely boy crazy but is so in touch with her self worth that she would never base anything she does on popularity. As she said once....imagine me trying to get my girls into some of these items.:rotfl:
Not implying your child, because we all know the DDA kids are a special bunch, but don't say never, ever. You would be amazed the amount of times I've heard that, and it's been proven not true.

What about somewhere in Mickey's House?

The Sword in The Stone?

Way to go Laura and Cassidy for being smart and realizing that being popular is not what you need, if it goes against your morals. :thumbsup2
From the unpopular girl that didn't belong to any group/ click all throughout school.

And Elizabeth is right being popular in school didn't help them in real life.

Okay so luckily it was a slow day at work and I was able to leave early. Jeff called me about 10 to ask me something and he said Olivia was complaining of a stomach ache. He dropped the girls off with mom around 1230, Olivia had not eaten anything. Mom said Olivia felt hot to the touch. Olivia fell asleep on the way from where he met mom to moms house. Her temp was 101.7 and she has woke up a couple of times, but has slept most of the time. She has thrown up twice.
