DDA Chapter 16

Have you noticed that food container sizes are getting smaller but prices are staying the same or getting higher?? I've noticed that with bread, chips, and cereal to name a few...

Yes!!! It's so frustrating! We are trying to stay away from buying cereal. We eat a ton of oatmeal and cracked wheat cereal.

I really hope that President-elect Obama can turn things around the way he says he can!

Oh, my, look at the time! I need to run, but I'll be back later.

Thanks for all the pixie dust and good wishes. So far nothing specific has been mentioned about our area, and I hope that we would hear more rumors if this site were closing. There still could be numerous lay-offs, though. My dh is so relaxed about it. He says that there is no use worrying about something that you can't change; you can just do your best to be prepared, and he really means it. I guess I'm just a worrier.

That's our job as wives and mothers!

Frivolous topic, but would anyone like to help me brainstorm?

We like to mark the kids' growth next to a Magic Kingdom icon on each trip. Alyssa's spot is Minnie's chair and Matty's spot is the Roy and Minnie bench. Any ideas for Noah? I know we rejected Goofy's bench (June's spot), because it's not always there.

Thanks in advance. :)
How about the Sword in the Stone? Or in the kid-size stocks in Liberty Square/Frontierland?

I hope you all have a fabulous trip!

School is delayed for two hours, so instead of going back to bed, I think I will Dis for a little while.

Tammi, there is a new law that is supposed to go into effect Feb. 10th, that will put a stop to the resale of used clothing, and any boutique children's clothing that is made for resale.
This law was to stop the infiltration of lead and deadly toxins that overseas toy manufacturers put into their products.
But since the law states that it is for all products for children under the age of 12, alot of businesses will go bankrupt.
They cannot afford the thousands of dollars that it will take to make sure that each and every product that goes into their creations is determined safe.
I understand the need for a law like this, but alot of small mom owned businesses (Dad owned too) are going to suffer.
You can read more about it here.

That is totally insane. I certainly hope that it is clarified or changed before February 10.

I'm at work and it is slow so I'm trying to read along...slyly;)

I'm not sure about places in Magic Kingdom, but if you were in DL, I'd suggest Snow White's wishing well, or one of the "gods" at the Tiki Room.

The things I have read are talking about "one of a kind" articles being exempted, but things sold in multiples will be subject to testing. Which I haven't quite sorted out. What if I wanted to sell DS's outgrown things, and he has several pairs of uniform pants that are all the same? But maybe they will exempt all clothing. :confused3

The ONE situation I can see where a law like this might be handy is for people selling vintage toys on eBay that could EASILY have lead in them. A stupid buyer could give the vintage toy to their child and the child could chew on it. That would be a problem. Otherwise, I think it is an asinine law.

I completely agree with this. Also used carseats, cribs, etc that can't be safety tested appropriately. All clothing should be exempt, hopefully! That would make much more sense, although I can understand if they are concerned about some of the things you see at like flea markets, where someone has 1000 of the same screen-printed knock-off tee shirt, obviously trying to make a buck. I guess maybe that situation could THEORETICALLY be more sketchy, because they might have gotten the shirts, printing materials, etc as cheaply as possible (and therefore from somewhere with lower standards).....?

I think that majority of us, doing "normal" stuff, will end up mostly unaffected!

Yes, please submit your ideas! I spent my entire last trip looking for somewhere to photograph our then unborn children, and never found the perfect spot!

I can see the flea market scenario being what they are going for.
Of course it will only take a month or so before people figure out how to counterfeit whatever "tag" goes on a certified lead-free item, so this won't really matter in the end.

Happy Birthday Princess.

She is quite welcome. :) Does this mean you get to have cake? I had a black bottom cupcake this morning.

Hi Amy! I hope you have a MAGICAL trip! As an FYI -- the bench wasn't there last week. It sounds like you are getting more ideas. I don't really have any to add. Everything I can think of that might still be there over the years isn't a sitting place -- ie. the Mickey and Walt statue, the picture spot alcove to the left of the castle, the mailbox in toontown. I'm sure you'll find a great spot. Can't wait to see pics! (And you guys should see mine soon, as the laptop seems to be virus-free.) The problem last night was that I thought for some reason I needed sleep instead of staying up to look through pics... :rotfl:

Yes. We definitely require cake.
Her "good" cake will be for her party on Sunday, but I will take her out later for cake to have at home.

We invited her little friend over to have cake BUT I completely forgot she starts back to ballet today! :headache: On top of that, we may have to go get DS because they switched DH to a convenience store route today and those take FOREVER. If DS doesn't have band practice we will have to go get him before ballet. If he does have band we are going to hope DH can get there by 5:15. Ballet is 4:45 - 5:30, so if DH can't get there DS will be waiting until about 5:45 PM.

Of course the band director is so eccentric there is no way to guess if there will or won't be practice. The kids got new music Tuesday that they are supposed to play next week for their semester exam. DS could probably use the practice, but that doesn't mean the director will be holding practice today.

Amy, have a wonderful trip!

I have been looking through my pictures. How about this place?

Or at Epcot: (just because she's cute, and I miss her being this little! I know, not a MK Icon!):goodvibes

We use this spot in DTD to gage Leighanna's growth through the years.

We have this little saying that we always say to each other.
I'll say. "I love you!"
She says, "I love you to infinity!"
I'll say, "I love you to infinity and beyond!" Of course in my best Buzz Lightyear impression! So that is why we ALWAYS have to get a picture here.

Although Leighanna might be too heavy for Buzz's arm this year! We'll find out in less than a month!

Colby and I are brainstorming. We've come up with the barber pole, the Tiki Totem poles, The jail with Zurg after the buzz ride. You could even chose one of the rides that have a measuring post out front and stand him in front of that.

Oh I like this one!

My first job is done for today and I don't have to be at the second until 4. This has certainly been a busy week. It wasn't too busy at the school as there are a lot of things I'm not trained to do that the regular secretary will have waiting when she gets back.

Off to do some laundry.
