DDA Chapter 16

So it appears that the economy woes have hit close to home with us also. My company has decided that it is necessary to reduce the number of full time employees in each store, part of this decision will take my position and HR and combine the two. This is a really bad move on their part, but they are looking at numbers and not practicality.

Now, I have 22 years experience, have actually done both jobs while the other girl has only 6 years and has only done the one position. I consider her a friend but under the circumstances I'm afraid I'll have to pull rank and insist that I keep my status, I'm not going to give up my benefits, personal time and vacation time.

So if you could add me to the Pixie Dust list I would appreciate it, I'm actually not supposed to know about this yet and she doesn't know, so maybe they will work something out.

The battery died in Gary's Jimmy & there is something wrong with the left front side(I guess it is shaking bad). I had to give a urine sample at the hospital today. I thought whatever I had was gone, but nope. So we will see what the results say. Plus I have my dental issues going on.

This all is taking money that I was not planning on be taken. So Gary & I will unfortunately be discussing whether the March trip is a good idea or not.

So not a happy day in the Corbin household today :sad2:
Sorry Janet.:grouphug:
The headlight just went out in my car. Thankfully a relatively cheap fix.
I don't want any unforseen expenses in the near future!
I hope that you still get your March getaway!

Loads of :wizard: :wizard: and   for you, Debbie! I hope you are able to keep your job!

We don't have K-Mart anymore, but they still run TV ads in our market so maybe there are some I am not aware of.

WalMart is truly evil. They were the nail in the coffin of the locally-owned grocery chain DH used to work for. He actually interviewed with them because they were recruiting HEAVILY. They paint a very rosy picture, but then you find out the truth AFTER they hire you. Luckily DH's friend's DW was a store manager and she gave him a peek at all of the insurance paperwork. :scared: The coverage was so bad we wouldn't have even opted in. We would have had to buy private health insurance.

DH's friend did go to work for them, and after 90 days or whatever they demoted him and cut his salary. I really do not care for their practices!

Sending lot's of :wizard: your way Debbie!

speaking of seek and destroy...did you know that Walgreen's strategy is to find towns with small but established local pharmacies....then they open nearby and destroy the little guy....

DS has semester exams next week. Tuesday - Friday the kids get out early. They just happened to mention that yesterday. It's a good thing I have a job where I can handle 4 early release days in a row with less than a week's notice! Princess is giddy at the prospect of picking DS up from school all those days. :rotfl2:

Really?
We are not a huge market for Walgreen's. We have them, but CVS is more prevalent. I think most people probably use the pharmacies at Target or the grocery store. We get all of our prescriptions form Sam's. Yes, I know Sam's and WalMart are the same company, but somehow we manage to remain in denial. I can think of 2 independent pharmacies, maybe 3.

You can have as much as you want! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Thank you all for the hugs :goodvibes

As hard as it may be, I am 99% sure we won't be going. We will lose out on the airfare though unless Airtran changes our flights drastically & I doubt that will happen.

I knew money was tight with all the remodeling going on, but with the 4/3 deal I thought we could make it happen. It just seems like one thing after the other has been happening lately. I know this is the responsible thing to do, but it still makes me feel defeated.

I'm so sorry. I know how much you were looking forward to it. This is such a touch economic times for most of us  You are using the money for the things that are important to maintain your life. Vacations will come again

Debbie-I am sorry about the possibility of job repositioning....I have found that A LOT of companies are thinking that they can save costs by hiring people at a very low pay to do our level work. What they don't figure is how often they have to RE-hire and train when they do that.

Janet-I am sorry the March trip isn't looking like it will happen.

Wal-Mart and Walgreens are very good at destroying their local competition. (I will be honest and say that we haven't had a local pharmacy in years though)

I had a lovely 2 hour lunch with my friend (where it was confirmed Miss Tattle Tale's BFF is the new office manager) and came home to a voice mail from an acquaintance (she is the Admin. for Discovery Job Network...a place that has sponsors and offers job support groups and lists jobs....LUMC was a sponsor and I was the main contact there....long story shorter, she helped me retool my resume and cover letter skills) that she felt she had just received a job where I was a very good fit. :lovestruc I just sent my resume to the gentleman. :cool2: While it wouldn't be the best job (it's only part time right now) it's good to know that networking works!!

We use Medicine Shoppe...I LOVE them. I fax in the prescription.....and then they deliver it. Can you imagine....plus I can sign for certain cough medicines with codeine....I am in my glory :rotfl:
