DDA Chapter 14

Well my day has been interesting... I met with my local state representative an individual whom I didn't vote for in the recent election, but won none the less. So I figured I might want to sit down with him and discuss the conversations I had with his competitor about Cochlear Implants.

What I wanted to discuss was having a bill passed similar to one in Oregon that states if an insurance company is willing to pay for one Cochlear Implant, then they must fund the second if deemed medically beneficial. I mean if a child or an adult is missing two legs they will cover both, so why not both ears. I wasn't sure what he would say or if he would be willing. He was ready to write the bill, then and there, and start working on getting it done before May. I was impressed, he enjoys fighting insurance he said so we will see if he's all talk or really out to support the hearing impaired.

During our discussion we spoke about the economy, our local school district and such. I mentioned how I had been unemployed for quite some time and recently took a position with a high end grocer here in town. Well it seems the CEO of said company is one of his biggest supporters. He asked if his writing a letter to said individual would help me. I told him it probably wouldn't hurt and he is going to draft a letter to be sent in the next week. This may help me move into management much quicker, we shall see. He stated he was impressed with my desire to help others, even though my child already has both implants. That was nice to hear.

It really is amazing how the Lord works, last night I was kind of down about this whole thing, but a few prayers and time can really change things.

Thank heavens I get to go to Disney with my DDA buddies otherwise I think I would just scream. I am so looking forward to the break from reality right now. I have to get something extra special for Dana when we go (maybe a stein in Germany?) since he moved things around & took vacation days to make it happen.

I am very glad you are able to join us as well

Mac your conversation sounds very promising! :wizard: for the outcome to be as you hope.

Well I had my 1st interview today & they did ask if I had any vacations planned(they must really know me lol). So I think if I were to get hired it probably would not be till after I return.

Oh well I will just work more hours where I am at right now. If I am meant to get a 2cd job it will happen.

Chanon & Anne Marie this is what I am looking forward to our 1st night, I just love these!

They jumped right off the catalog page months ago! I begged our master exchange setter upper to pull particular names for me this year. I hope that was OK with everyone.
It was perfect. You and the exchange setter upper did good :thumbsup2

I will check...I always think somebody else checks the mail and there is no light at the boxes so I don't feel safe doing it as I get home in the dark.
Hopefully it has arrived by now. Becky got hers in PA a few weeks ago.

Today is Nicholas' field trip to Mt. Vernon. They should be arriving in about an hour so I'll head over to meet them then. It's going to be cold out there!

Be thankful it isn't here. We still have frost on the lawn. Brrrr

For all of you who ordered from or are getting ready to order from Snapfish, they are offering free shipping on orders placed by midnight tonight. SHIPALLFREE. If you ordered over the last few days I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and see if they will adjust your order.
That figures. I ordered some things on Friday and others yesterday :sad2: It was still a good deal though.

...what's your candy of choice? I think Bob did a rice crispy treat last time we were there.

I thought he had a name, but wiki answers says that he officially doesn't. :confused3

Huh. Thanks for looking! Dadboss and I were discussing it last night. :rotfl2:

Mac, I hope this is the beginning of something good! :wizard:

I hope it works out for you! :wizard:

We made beef stew, salad, and cookies today. Princess ate maybe 3 small lettuce leaves, 2 grape tomatoes, and one bite of meat that took her 10 minutes to swallow. Now I have to convince her that she still has to eat lunch because although her "snack" at cooking took FOREVER to finish she didn't eat enough to count as a meal.

Mom's Dr's office called me right before we left for cooking so they are going to talk with her about treating the lymphedema and see if she might need to go to the lymphedema clinic for more treatment. They can fit her for a compression sleeve if they need to, or have her go for massage designed to drain the extra fluid from her arm.

I like to get all three dipped in milk chocolate & then one dipped in reese's peanut butter cups, one dipped in pecans, & one dipped in butterfingers, & then all of them drizzled with caramel :thumbsup2

Garrett got the Oreo cookie in Aug. & it was huge!

Elizabeth I am so glad you were able to talk to someone. I hope your mother gets her arm taken care of :wizard:

I am really happy that they called me back. Hopefully they will be able to get through to her that if the swelling gets out of control they may not be able to fix it. She can't just go willy-nilly doing things that will hurt her arm and not ever consider the repercussions. :sad2:

The pretzel rods from Goofy's Candy Co., I am addicted to them lol

You get 3 for $3.95 & can have whatever toppings you like added!

Wow! Is this in DD? I have never been in there!

I am glad you were able to speak to someone in the office, Elizabeth.

Jen it is a big deal, especially when you get a creepy feeling. And always listen to your feelings. Please next time go and ask for security.

Always go with your first instinct. Hal and I went to a class that was going over this kind of stuff. Security is there for you, that is their job. Ask them to walk you to your car. Park under a light so you can see under your car. If your car is between two big vans, turn around and get security to walk you out.

DO NOT TAKE CHANCES
