Nothing like a Monday.
Mom has been using her arm too much and now it is swelling. Lymphedema is serious, but she apparently doesn't plan to worry about it. I bet she'll worry once it is permanent!

I have a call in to her oncologist because she needs to understand that she can not fool around with this. She just got around to telling me about it - her arm has been swollen for THREE WEEKS! She is supposed to wrap it in an Ace bandage but she says that hurts, so she is just leaving it unwrapped. Perfect. Her Dr. needs to tell her she CAN NOT lift those toddlers when she comes down for Thanksgiving. 100% NO LIFTING. She ignores me when I tell her things, and my sister won't care if Mom can't use her arm anymore. She has SHOPPING to do, and that is FAR more important than someone losing the use of a limb. I need to e-mail Diva and tell her this is EXTREMELY serious and she needs to stay with Mom at all times to make sure she doesn't lift anything. I suspect sitting in the car for 9 hours (driving or not) won't be very beneficial, either.
DS has a 76 in Language Arts. He is missing about 4 assignments and he got a 75 on a group project that they did in class. That counted as a test grade and pretty much negated the 95 he got on the brochure. He had a math packet that we carried around all week and didn't start until Saturday. Turns out there were 2 problems he couldn't do because none of us understood them! One was about the ratio of a large triangle to a small one, and one was about something else that made no sense. The teacher said she gives the kids a week for each packet so they can ask for help. Well, DS can't ask for help when he doesn't start the stupid packet until the day before it is due!

He has to watch the news twice a week and write 2 summaries. As of last night he hadn't bothered to do any, and those are due today. He hasn't even started his election essay because he claims he can't think of anything to say. It has to be 1-2 typed pages, due Friday. We already know he is getting points off for not having one of the papers that belongs in the notebook, so he better come up with a decent essay soon. I am so frustrated with him.
He loses things, he lies about homework, he doesn't take anything seriously, "I don't know" is his mantra for everything. Why is this grade so low? I don't know. What happened to this paper? I don't know. What is this assignment that has a zero on it? I don't know. What DOES he know? Does he actually attend these classes or not?

Yet he doesn't need a 504 on file because the ADD has no impact on his performance in the classroom. OK, so he is just a complete bonehead? Is that what we are saying here? Because if the ADD has nothing to do with it then we are in very big trouble!
