DDA Chapter 14

Jen, if you want a decorating day this year, come up here and help!

I still have the fall decorations out, and am not ready to take them down yet.

I should have done the outside decorations last week when it was in the 70's!
What fun would that be? I always seem to wait for the coldest windiest days possible. It wouldn't be Christmas without a few frostbitten digits would it?:rotfl:

Elin, I think your hair looks fine. I am sure that with a few washes it will tone down quite a bit.
A friend of mine did the same thing, her hair was almost purple. After a few washes it was a much more subtle hue!

Kyle was thinking the same thing about outdoor decorations. He was messing with our satellite dish last weekend when it was downright hot, and said then that he should do the lights while it's nice. I bet he's going to regret not listening to himself! :rotfl:

So I have a large majority of my decorations up, but I'm not thrilled by that. I'll get over it and will be glad it's done, but I hate feeling like that. Since I was about 5 I have decorated the weekend of my birthday. There's music, hot chocolate, and a big "to-do". This year, my MIL made plans for us that day and failed to let me know, then gave me a humongous guilt trip that I would rather decorate than spend time with her. Well... :rolleyes1

Anyway, it's earlier than I would have liked and was a MUCH less festive day than I would have liked.... but at least it's nice to look at.

I'm still going to try and do the trees next weekend, but we might have to do them in pieces throughout the next week or two, too

How mean of your MIL to spoil your decorating day.

Sounds like everyone is having a pretty good day!

Tammi sorry about Nicholas team losing, glad to hear he wants to play again though.

Theresa hope you enjoyed the movie!

Debbie glad you made it safely, have a wonderful time!

Robyn I like the name that your sister picked out for her baby :goodvibes Sounds like you had made wonderful progress with the painting!

Elin sorry about the hair salon not getting your hair color right. Glad you & Tammi had a good time!

Elizabeth I hope you figured out something to wear(if not you will be a big hit at the party :teeth:) Hope you have a good time!

So Chanon did your mom get her boarding passes printed :rolleyes1

Thanks Janet, it is done (well minus a few touch up spots on the trim)

This had me :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK... self portraits are never easy or pretty. But this is the hair. I actually think it is wine-ier than it appears here.

ETA: I suppose I could have brushed it before taking pictures! :rotfl2:

I'm used to messy hair, my girls don't like brushes! But I love it!!

Elin, I think the color is just fine, but I agree it might tone down after a few washings.

I was just showing these pictures to Alyssa and Nicholas.

NICHOLAS: Did she get her hair done?
ALYSSA: No. She drank too much wine.

Hey saw you were the latest poster on this thread so jumped in to peek - what color did you ask for Elin?

Liz

my normal color! This was the color of the highlights I tried out in September... the ones that no one ever noticed. :rotfl2: When my hairdresser said are we doing all over color and then the highlights today, I said no... just the all over color. She asked if I wanted the color I got the last time and I said yes, never thinking she meant the highlights color!

Kathrin says it is very "autumnal" and she likes it. Bob says if I like it he doesn't care.

Elin, it is definitely burgundy/wine-y, but it doesn't look bad at all!! If that's not what you were going for, though, it would be a bit frustrating. Like Tammi said, I wouldn't have handled the "wrong" color as well as you! :)

Don't you think it will fade a bit? I know my mom's definitely does over the first couple of days.

Yes, I think it will. My hairdresser said as much, and even gave me a few tips on how to make it fade more quickly and more drastically. I can also go back in this week or next and get highlights of my normal color put in on top of this to kind of "soften" the darkness of it. I think I need to live with it a bit and see what I think.

I will get a real test of it tomorrow during the Open House. Everyone I teach or work with will be there! And those kids won't be shy. :rotfl:

Elin I think it looks fine.
You should have seen my hair one time. :sad2: Dawn had found a shade called Tea and it looked great on her, so I decided to give it a try. :scared1: My hair is a lot lighter then hers and lets just say it was almost orange, luckily it was one of thoes wash out in 30 days colors so I just washed it a lot.

Thanks, Tom. My hair is almost purple too! But I think it will tone down.

And, FYI - I just finished putting UP my fall decorations! I won't decorate for Christmas outside until the weekend after Thanksgiving, probably. Of course, my outside decor consists of a different wreath and flag and maybe a swag over the door.

OMG - I just remembered that I had a memorial service to go to this afternoon at 4:00. It was for my piano professor from college! I cannot believe I forgot! :(

Neither will I. Too much Christmas for me. I love Christmas but if it lasts too long, I get tired of it. Our tree is only up for two weeks. We do have our outside Christmas decorations up right after Thanksgiving.

Elin I agree with everyone else!

OMG!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Your kids are on a roll!!

Many thanks, everyone. And the idea of the drinking too much wine actually started in a conversation I had with Alyssa at lunch. She was a little shy and I was thinking it was because my hair was such a different color so I told her I drank too much wine and it turned my hair purple. She must have believed me! :rotfl:
