SO cute! I wanted to make something for Emma but I couldn't find any Halloween fabric I really liked.







So I've been crazy busy again this week at work but the end is almost here. And we've got the 3 kid's teacher conferences this week, Joe had a Halloween party on Monday, and Emma had a birthday party this week so it's been a crazy week.



I did order my dSLR last night and while I really want it I can't help but wonder if it was the smartest move given the state of the economy. I guess I'll be busy this weekend trying to figure it out. It is supposed to arrive tomorrow-hopefully UPS won't try to deliver it when DH is at Emma's parent/teacher conference as it needs a signature.


AP rates came out for Jan & early Feb today. I could NOT use it on my AKL CL room-I do have AAA but AP would be about $50 more off per night. When I first booked the room I told myself that I would be happy with the AAA discount as I knew that AP was not likely but now I am wondering if I should just stay at Pop. I could get Savanna view room at AKL with AP for about $570 less than CL but I really want to do the Sunrise Safari and I do enjoy CL service. I think I'll just keep what I have for now and hope they will offer more discounts or maybe there will be cancelations. I can always switch to Pop in a few weeks if I still think that would be a better option for us.


I finished Joe's Martian costume this weekend and made Lizzy a pirate head wrap, sash, and vest. On Halloween for Joe's Martian we'll add glow bracelets to the cuffs and arm holes. There are tabs for them on the costumes. I don't know if Emma will be Buzz or a pirate on Halloween.

I think at least Chris should make a quick appearance on Friday, to support his mom.

There is no quick about it. The funeral home is about 45 minutes from here. He would have to commit at least 2 hrs between driving and being there. He doesn't get out of work until 5 PM so by the time he came home, showered and changed it would certainly be after 6 before he even left to go. We did go to her old house to pick up some stuff for her tonight. The son was there trying to empty the house as the rent is only paid through tomorrow. The family was very nice, but it took almost 2 hours for them to decide what we should take with many calls to his mom. She decided that she didn't need to go with us The autopsy showed gastrointestinal hemoridge caused by long term excessive drinking. The family is very angry at MIL's sister as she was at the house and knew that he was coughing up blood, but did not call 911 as he didn't want her to. She has mental disablilities and the state paid him to be her part time care giver. Apparently she was at his house because he wasn't feeling well and didn't want to have to travel back and forth to care for her. Of course MIL holds her responsible not only for his death, but also for their breakup. It seems the sister fell in love with the boyfriend and enabled his alcoholism by keeping alcohol at her house for him. He claimed that he had no interest in her, but he mental capabilities are limited and she though that if she could push MIL away that eventually he would fall for her. His family liked MIL and does not like the sister and also blames her for the increased drinking. If the sister shows up at the funeral home I think there will be a scene to say the least. At one point we called MIL to see if she wanted the dryer as she needs to get a washer and dryer for her new place. She said that she had stored a bunch of boxes in the laudry closet and didn't feel like cleaning it out She would rather shell out hundreds of dollars that she doesn't have rather than move a few boxes. In the end we talked her into taking it. I just don't understand her way of thinking. We did tell her that we couldn't attend tomorrow night and she said she was ok with it Chris really does not want to go at all so I'm not pushing it.

Robyn - I think I like that border better. It isn't quite as busy as the first one.

Mac -- I was sorry to hear about the passing of your wives randfather. I hope you find a job soon. Have you tried contract work or a temp service? They even have ones in big D for Executive Temps!

Tiff left us at the port one year when a hurricane came, causing damage and mayhem. We were late getting off the ship, so I called to let them know. They took passengers off another ship that came in before us and left us STRANDED! Southern E l e g a n c e has been great for us and we did use a credit card.



I like that border and agree -- tell Eric he needs to stock the wine rack!

Thanks for the good thoughts on our anniversary yesterday.

We certainly did have lots of drama. I had Andrew start his homework on the way home from work yesterday. One of our neighbor's kept texting him, so I told Andrew to text him that he's doing homework and to quit texting him, that he'll call him when we get home. Andrew told me he would call him, and I told him three times not to -- I try to be concious of using up minutes on kids' phones. Most parents put unlimited texting but not a lot of minutes on those phones. Anyway, Andrew called him so I took his phone away and turned it off. We went straight to the jiffy lube place to have the car inspected when we got to Kaufman. When they finished, I got in the car and saw the phone was missing. Of course, no one would admit to taking it. I was furious -- I begged, I told them I wouldn't prosecute, I said they could keep the phone that I just want the SIM card etc. Of course, no one would admit to it.

Five minutes after I got home the owner called me. He was furious too, but he was in Dallas and said he couldn't search them anyway. He did offer to pay for the phone, but that's not the point. The point is someone lifted it, it will take time to replace it, and Andrew will lose all of his numbers/music/pictures etc. Dad said I should have called the police, but they couldn't have searched them other. Between that and Randy working late, it wasn't a memorable anniversary. That's okay -- we are going out for a nice dinner on Saturday and the day could have been much worse.

I just feel so guilty that I didn't put it in my purse. Andrew was upset, and though he wouldn't admit it, I think he knows that it really stems to him not minding me.

Off to get some more work done. Merrie was in at 6:45 this morning for a call from Switzerland, and in between those calls I actually got her to answer a lot of my questions about client Christmas projects, so I better get busy!

Can you call and have service shut off to that phone? Maybe the number can be transfered to the new phone. I know it is a hassle, but I wouldn't want them to get to use it.

******Public Service Announcement*******!!!!!!!

One of our co-workers was feeling kinda crummy so she started taking Ginger Root that she bought on line from a Holistic Medicine web site. Well it went down fine but when she started getting really sick and vomiting, as it was coming back up, it was burning her esophagus.

When her DH took her to the hospital, the DR told her that had she waited any longer the damage would have been so bad that she probably could not have been able to talk. She has been out for four days now and we are hoping she will be feeling better next week.


I can remember when I used to take Black Cohosh for those darned private summers, I felt really great for a while, but then I started having some weird side affects and had started to read some not so good reports. My Dr had said that sometimes it builds up in your system and you have to stop it for awhile but I just stopped it altogether. But this incident makes me not want to take any herbal stuff. you just don't know what you could be getting yourself into.

I did my half day today, I taught math to 1st graders and did a science lab with 2 8th grade classes. Thankfully that all came back to me I got a call this afternoon asking me to sub again tomorrow morning The principal asked me to come in on Monday morning to do a ride along for mini van. I'll do an afternoon run too. I may or may not cover a class or two in between. In any event I will be paid for the whole day. I'm really hoping that they will be able to use me at least a couple of days per week. I figure the more training I get the more calls I'll get.

Can someone tell me how this makes sense???
I'm pricing out room only for three nights and room only for two nights. Both fall over the same dates. Both are for the same hotel. WHY is the hotel not available for the two nights but is available for three?! I'll be booking two rooms for three nights and then canceling one night - but talk about a waste of time!

I don't know whether or not anyone will have already answered you... but sometimes there is a 3 night minimum.

Chuck's mom did not plan on going to his dad's visitation (I think that is the same as your wake) so Chuck didn't plan on going. She changed her mind so we ended up going but we got there at least an hour late and he left for at least 45 minutes to run an errand. What I'm saying is just because you don't go, doesn't necessarily mean you don't care. The visitation is for those that need to say good-bye. In my opinion, you need to be at the funeral but could skip the visitation.

DS has given the seal of approval to his ninja costume, so that's one less thing to worry about.

I am starving. DH finds it HILARIOUS that my pants don't fit. He is definitely not helping matters. I haven't eaten any sweets or had any soda other than diet (one can per day) this week. My weight hasn't changed. I have drastically cut back on my portions so I can not believe I haven't even lost half a pound. Obviously the missing component here is exercise, which is a nightmare for me to try to find time for.

Hi, and goodnight all. I'm emotionally drained. It was a very difficult day. What hurt the most was seeing his children, 16,13 and 10. I was laying in bed tonight hugging my kids, and thinking that Frank will never be able to do that again, and that his kids won't ever feel their dad's arms around them again. It's all so senseless and very sad.
