Chris' Mother called this morning. Apparently she is leaving her worthless boyfriend of 17 years She needs Chris to help her move. He politely told her that she'd have to wait a bit since we will be on a cruise We are hoping that she will become a nicer person once she gets away from him. He is an alcoholic and from what she said today, he is a drug user too She always chooses men that need to be enabled, that has been the pattern of her entire life. I'm sure more details will emerge when we help move her, but at least she is taking control of her own life even if only for a moment.

I hope she gets her act together. Somehow though, I see this creating some havoc for you and Chris. Hope I'm wrong!

It could create some havoc, but Chris is pretty good about setting boundaries for his mother. He sees her for what she is so I'm not too worried at this point. Apparently she is getting housing through Dartmouth College which is who she works for. They used to have a program based on income so I'd assume that is how it works.

Hmm. I hope that goes well and that she is happier when she gets away from him. My mom still waited hand and foot on the Ogre even after they were divorced. Talk about unhealthy.

Robyn - Perhaps you miss $5 million the same way the school district missed a $64 million shortfall, which actually was closer to $84 million by the time they found it and made enough staff cuts to stop the hemorrhage. They were supposed to announce teacher lay-offs today (it was going to be over 500, but now I think it is 470-490 due to some teachers taking early retirement). They have decided to wait until tomorrow. Talk about prolonging the uncertainty for the teachers. The police department is encouraging the teachers to apply there, but if I was a teacher I don't think my second choice of careers would be a police officer in a city with crime like Dallas.

I just booked the Segway tour for Bob and my dad, as a surprise. It will be part of their Christmas present. I was, however, surprised to see that the price has more than doubled since I went a few years ago.

I can't remember what it was when the 3 of us did it

It was 40something. I'm thinking of canceling the carriage ride for the night of Nicholas bday and setting up the scavenger hunt for then. I tried to call Jane but she is out until later this afternoon. I think it would be cool if, at the end of our dinner at Park Fare a CM brought out something to Nicholas that would start it.

It appears that I would be in the 5% of people that get minor side effects from the Z pack. I can't seem to go far from the potty today Thankfully I only have one more dose to take tomorrow. I think that overall I'm feeling a bit better though not 100%. I'm trying to find someone to take my shift tonight. I'm not sure how I will deliver food to the table from the bathroom

just keep in mind that the scavenger hunts take place in the parks....and the later in the day.....the more crowded the park would be....I am not sure if she does them after 4 pm either...maybe she does, who knows

It looks like their are 2 storms brewin' in the lower Atlantic. One "should" head west into Central America and the other will hopefully stay low then head into the Eastern Atlantic. Hopefully the waters will be calm for our cruise.
