DDA Chapter 13

I've never owned Birkenstocks (too cheap for that part of granola). I don't shave my legs often, but that is because (as my daughter terms me) I am a hairless freak. She is just jealous, because she has to shave her legs almost every day. I really just don't have much hair on my legs (or arms for that matter).

I don't have to shave my legs often either. My hair is very fine, in the winter I might shave them a couple of times :rotfl:

Katrina says I need to tell my friends that I'll be busy tonight as I'll be scrapbooking with her. :rotfl: It is just the two of us tonight since Chuck is at his parents.

Good thoughts. :wizard: :wizard:

Prayers needed for Chuck's mom. She was put in the hospital on Wednesday night. They gave her some meds and that took care of the immediate issue (which I still don't know what it is exactly). She is still in the hospital as they are monitoring her. Chuck headed over there today and I'll head over tomorrow. I didn't want to go today because I'm still not 100% after the sore throat.

I hate all of you who don't have to shave. ;)

Have fun!

Hope you can find some leaders! Does it help to push the new program and how much it's like a "canned" meeting already done for them? I guess the 1st graders at Kassie's school had a leader issue too. I picked Kassie up last night and there are like 15 of them in the troop. They had a lot of Moms there to help, but I'm guessing that only the 2 leaders were the ones willing to step up and lead a troop since there were like 3 Kindergarten troops last year. I know most of Kassie's troop and the leader moved to the Catholic school, but now all of the rest of the girls are in one big troop.

Glad you missed the intersection by a little. That's always scary when you miss an accident by so little. Good luck with the appointments as well.

Thanks for the cake idea too. The wall on top could work out well.

Pushing the Journeys has helped. I have found a bunch of leaders for new troops. I have been pushing leadership teams like 2 or more splitting up the responsibilities and telling them they are co-leaders.

In most of my areas we have already set up more troops then ended with last year. But we need more. I have had a few agree and then change their mind.

It just seems like there are so many girls who still do not have a place in a troop. The one service unit needs leader's for 5 troops. Each of these would probably have between 15-20 girls. If we had the leaders we would make the troops smaller but I just do not have people to do that.

I need to set up parent meetings and bring all of them together. It makes it easier to convince people to lead as a group, as they can see the people who will help them and work together.

Its just I have this issue in 5 different places. So I have to repeat everything multiple times.

So there is this channel with a bunch of nuns saying the rosary. I have decided it is the same footage and they rerun it every night. How common are convents with nuns who wear the long habits? I told DH I don't know if those nuns are in this country. I Googled and found one convent in CO, but are there lots? Do you guys know girls who have become nuns? I am fascinted by the whole idea of nuns. Unfortunately I am too old to become one. :rolleyes1 Oh, and I'm not Catholic.

  For the gas prices. We are still in the $3.40s here.  For everything else in your crazy world. I promise that someday things will settle down, at least a bit.

Have you tried putting Noah to bed in his car seat at night? ;)

I saw gas for $3.19 tonight. It came down about 20 cents this week.

The only way my parents could get me to sleep as a baby was to drive me in a car at night. I had my schedule totally reversed. I can not fall asleep in a moving vehicle anymore. My days and nights are still reversed. I try to live in then normal time world. But it does not work all that well.

 :wizard: to Robyn's Grandmother and the whole family

Vicki-:wizard:  to Chuck's Mom and your family

Amy- Hope things settle down in your house

I do have one pair of Birkenstock sandals. They are great. Or they were until they started to stink. I bought the special cleaner for them and it didn't help. I used straight rubbing alcohol on them (because there was a thread about it) and that didn't help, either. So now I have a pair of shoes that cost $130 and I can't wear them because they reek. As soon as I have had them on long enough for the shoes to get warm the stench is noticeable. Maybe I should try to saturate them with Febreze or something. It's not like ruining them would be horrible because as far as I am concerned they are already ruined!

I always just shave my legs to the knees. Because I am lazy, not because I am a hippy. :hippie:

Try peroxide

Or baking soda and then put them in the sun

I do not like shaving. But I do it several times a week anyways. I have contemplated getting laser hair removal, but am too cheap to do so. As I know you have to keep doing it.

Momboss hosted a little gathering of nuns one day, but I am not sure where she found them. She graduated from a Catholic school, but it wasn't here in Dallas. I guess some of the teachers at the Catholic high schools are probably nuns, but I don't think they live in a convent.

Come to think of it, I think one of our hospitals might be Catholic but we don't ever go there for anything.

I put all of my sandals away last weekend. It's not cold here yet, but my pedicure is beyond salvage so no more open toed shoes! I'll have to mess with the Birkenstocks next Spring.

We have nuns in town. They wear the long habits. Katrina used to wait on them when they would go in the restaurant that she worked in.

I wouldn't think so, but you never know with their computer system. And where are you making the new reservations?

You do have to cancel existing reservations before the system will allow you to make a new one for the same dates. I had the most awesome CM this afternoon. "Caldwell" took care of all the cancellations, rebookings and refunds and deposits. I plan to write an email because he was patient and understanding and took 90 minutes to take care of all of it! We have adjoining rooms, courtyard view requested at POFQ for the trip. I am fine with it now that all is said and done.
