It must have just hit the news as it wasn't there earlier this morning.
Aw, I hadn't heard this!
Aw, I hadn't heard this!
Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) died yesterday.![]()
I have been whittling away at our laundry this morning. It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how many loads I do during the week by Saturday there are easily 5 or more loads.I swear it jumps out of our dressers and into the hamper!
We have a birthday party this afternoon for my girlfriend's DD, she turned 1 on Thursday. It's a 45 minute drive to her house and the party is right at Lucy's nap time, 1pm. We are also taking my mom, sister and niece so our van will be filled to the brim so I doubt she'll nap on our way up.
Jennifer, how awful!
I remember something like that happening with Leighanna. Sometimes she would cry so hard in her carseat that we would have to pull over to consol her. She would gag and spit up.
Eventually we learned that if we sang to her she would not cry and tolerate the ride much better.
I remember having almost no voice left after driving home from a relatives house. (I mean HOW many verses of "The Ants go Marching On" can a person sing?)
Soon after that we installed a DVD player. That did the trick!
Hope everything settles down for you soon!
Ok, now that they're settled this morning...
It definitely had a trigger, which is why I'm more confident she's ok this morning. She had eaten about an hour before, and woke up (in the carseat, while driving) screaming like she does with some of her worst belly pain episodes. It escalated SO quickly, even moreso than usual. Within about 2 minutes she was screaming so hard she was making herself choke, and Kyle was already planning on getting off at an exit to try and calm her down, give her medicine, resolve her issues, etc so she could sleep more comfortably. Within less than another minute (so about 3-4 minutes total of this), she made this awful noise that I can hear but can't describe adequately, then just quit. It almost looked (from what I could tell hanging over the back of my seat (sans seatbelt of course) and looking in the mirror we have hanging) like just some sort of either aspiration, diaphragm spasm, etc I'm assuming she, amidst the crying and choking, spit up and aspirated on it, but I watched her just gasp and then stop altogether.
By this point Kyle was whipping into a gas station (thankfully we weren't quite to BFE Indiana in our drive!) and it just took a little forceful stimulation, which started the choking again, but also started the breathing.
Not fun, but thankfully it was fewer than 20 seconds. Long enough for her to be glassy-eyed and gray in color (this definitely is what freaked me out!) but not long enough for her mental status to be changed or anything, once she recovered![]()
I rode in the back with her just to keep her crying in check, and watch her when she spit up in case she were to aspirate again. Ugh!
Hopefully it was a one time thing, just a freak combination of events. Certainly she's prone to it as long as she's refluxing, having belly issues, etc. We're already seeing them outgrow a bit of them though, so I imagine we're ok.![]()
Did you say you flew into Tampa? What about going to Busch Gardens and staying one night on the gulf side? Then you can take the long way to Miami by going Aligator Alley...Is anyone at Disney on Oct 18 and 19th. We were hoping to catch a meal with someone, but according to the trip thread there isn't any DDA there. Now we are thinking of driving to Vero Beach and staying there for 2 nights. Has anyone been there? Is it fun? Since we have no park tickets it might have more options at vero beach.
Decisions...Decisions
Jennifer, I hope Elise doesn't have any more of those episodes!Glad you all made it home safely!
I need to take DS for a haircut today. Tonight we are going to dinner with the Uncles.![]()

Ugh.
My mom needs a little pixie dust.
The family from hell has moved in above her. They are loud and obnoxious. Apparently there are 3 teenagers and a mom. Last night one of the kids was outside with a bunch of other teens and a fight broke out. It escalated to the point that Mom called the police, but by the time they got there the kids had all scattered.
checking in....back on land! I updated the trip report....we are exhausted but having fun
