DDA Chapter 12

Jennifer, how awful!

I remember something like that happening with Leighanna. Sometimes she would cry so hard in her carseat that we would have to pull over to consol her. She would gag and spit up.
Eventually we learned that if we sang to her she would not cry and tolerate the ride much better.
I remember having almost no voice left after driving home from a relatives house. (I mean HOW many verses of "The Ants go Marching On" can a person sing?)
Soon after that we installed a DVD player. That did the trick!
Hope everything settles down for you soon!

Jennifer,
How frightening, luckily you and Kyle have your medical backgrounds.

Deb,
Congratulations on the cruise, we chose just to walk around Nassau, I wouldn't really recommend that but Atlantis sounds great for the whole family.

Doc Hudson (Paul Newman) died yesterday. :sad1:

I just saw that as I was flipping channels. It is also up on my internet home page now, but it wasn't there earlier.

I have been whittling away at our laundry this morning. It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how many loads I do during the week by Saturday there are easily 5 or more loads. :confused3 I swear it jumps out of our dressers and into the hamper!

We have a birthday party this afternoon for my girlfriend's DD, she turned 1 on Thursday. It's a 45 minute drive to her house and the party is right at Lucy's nap time, 1pm. We are also taking my mom, sister and niece so our van will be filled to the brim so I doubt she'll nap on our way up.

Shh! Don't talk about laundry!
I hope you all have fun at the party! Any big Rosh Hashanah dinners for you on Monday?

Thank you all for your support. Honestly, while it was all going on I think, as I told Amy, that I just turned into a nurse! :rotfl: I can't imagine how scary it would have been had we not dealt with these things on a regular basis. Afterwards though, I was a mama again and not thrilled that it was my baby girl making us do such things!

I think I've processed enough though to convince myself that it was a one time thing, so we progress as normal unless it happens again!

Ok, now that they're settled this morning...

It definitely had a trigger, which is why I'm more confident she's ok this morning. She had eaten about an hour before, and woke up (in the carseat, while driving) screaming like she does with some of her worst belly pain episodes. It escalated SO quickly, even moreso than usual. Within about 2 minutes she was screaming so hard she was making herself choke, and Kyle was already planning on getting off at an exit to try and calm her down, give her medicine, resolve her issues, etc so she could sleep more comfortably. Within less than another minute (so about 3-4 minutes total of this), she made this awful noise that I can hear but can't describe adequately, then just quit. It almost looked (from what I could tell hanging over the back of my seat (sans seatbelt of course) and looking in the mirror we have hanging) like just some sort of either aspiration, diaphragm spasm, etc I'm assuming she, amidst the crying and choking, spit up and aspirated on it, but I watched her just gasp and then stop altogether.

By this point Kyle was whipping into a gas station (thankfully we weren't quite to BFE Indiana in our drive!) and it just took a little forceful stimulation, which started the choking again, but also started the breathing.

Not fun, but thankfully it was fewer than 20 seconds. Long enough for her to be glassy-eyed and gray in color (this definitely is what freaked me out!) but not long enough for her mental status to be changed or anything, once she recovered

I rode in the back with her just to keep her crying in check, and watch her when she spit up in case she were to aspirate again. Ugh!

Hopefully it was a one time thing, just a freak combination of events. Certainly she's prone to it as long as she's refluxing, having belly issues, etc. We're already seeing them outgrow a bit of them though, so I imagine we're ok. :sad2:

 I'm glad she is ok today.

I have spent 3 hours looking at car rentals and airfare. Of course I ended up booking different airfare than I had planned so now I can look at car rentals all over again. :sad2:

I ended up booking a flight from Manchester, NH to Tampa on Saturday Oct 18. It will put us in Tampa at 11:30am. Then we'll drive to Disney. I'm hoping to stay that Beach club, but haven't even looked yet :rolleyes1 Monday morning we will leave from WDW and drive 3 1/2 hours to Miami for the cruise. On Friday the 24th we will arrive back in Miami and have to depart the ship by 10 AM. We will rent a car and drive to Fort Lauderdale and hang out there for the day, catching at 7:45PM flight.

At least some things are ironed out.

DVC has NO availability for those 2 nights. No one bedroom, No two bedroom, No studios...anywhere. So now we have flights and no room :confused3 We could stay in a hotel room at Vero Beach, guess I need to research that.

Is anyone at Disney on Oct 18 and 19th. We were hoping to catch a meal with someone, but according to the trip thread there isn't any DDA there. :sad1: Now we are thinking of driving to Vero Beach and staying there for 2 nights. Has anyone been there? Is it fun? Since we have no park tickets it might have more options at vero beach.

Decisions...Decisions

Jennifer,
What a terrible experience..I am so glad that Elise is ok.

Did you say you flew into Tampa? What about going to Busch Gardens and staying one night on the gulf side? Then you can take the long way to Miami by going Aligator Alley...
...but Vero sounds fun too! :teeth:

Ugh.
My mom needs a little pixie dust.
The family from hell has moved in above her. They are loud and obnoxious. Apparently there are 3 teenagers and a mom. Last night one of the kids was outside with a bunch of other teens and a fight broke out. It escalated to the point that Mom called the police, but by the time they got there the kids had all scattered.
Diva e-mailed all of that to me, then I called Mom. Diva said Mom is all stressed out, can't get any sleep, etc. Oh, and she STOOD ON THE PATIO to call 911 so the kids know she called. :headache: She has ALWAYS been like that and I hated it when I was growing up.
I called her and she told me about calling the police, but not that she called frm the patio. I told her she needs to WRITE all of these episodes in a letter to the leasing office and the corporate office who owns the property. She needs to tell them point blank that their failure to have these residents adhere to the terms of the lease is forcing her to look for other housing, and she will be suing the property to recover her relocation costs. Of course she hasn't documented all the other times she has called to complain, but I told her she needs to start with a letter NOW saying she has complained about noise numerous times and nothing has been done, and she had to call the police on 9/26. I just tried to call the leasing office but I got the recording. I am going to let them know that I am very displeased, and we plan to pursue the matter. They probably won't care. If they were smart they would care. ;)

checking in....back on land! I updated the trip report....we are exhausted but having fun

I'm totally stesssed out. I have spent my entire day (not kidding) working out details. We now have the cruise booked, airfare booked, Vero beach booked and rental cars. I will probably continue to search for better car rentals, but I need to stop now and I have at least something booked. I told Chris that I need to get out of here for awhile. I need to take Nick to my parent's house as he is begging to stay there tonight. I think I may run out for a bit of window shopping just to get away.

I did laundry all day yesterday, I think I put the last load in the dryer at 10pm

Hope you all enjoy the party!

Sorry your mom is having to deal with this as well. Hope it can be taken care of without her actually having to move :wizard:
