Disney Parks Announce "What Will You Celebrate?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To bad none of us will be there for our birthdays :guilty:

I just received a passholder email about this!

Robyn - I remember that. I had no idea one of those same girls would also be involved in this party scenario. :scared: Be very explicit in your wording of the invitations. And if the mom asks if the sibling can come you need to be prepared to say no.

Oh, the sibling will not be invited or welcomed! She is the one who shimmied her way into an American Girl inflatable kayak. Mo and Lucy won't even be welcomed so it's not like I am not including her on purpose:laughing:

As long as you are clear that the party will be over at such and such a time, and you are not available after that, you should be fine. My kids actually like the late nights better than sleep overs. They get all the fun, jammed into a short time, and there's really no time for arguments and fights.

That's what I am trying to avoid. A lot of the drama.

Um.... it just depends. He usually gets between 2 and 4 hours of sleep, but not always. It just depends on admissions, cross-cover pages (caring for patients already in house), the service he's on, etc. That's actually more sleep than he got as an intern though, so he doesn't complain! :goodvibes

I just can't imagine keeping that kind of schedule.

This is such a great idea! Good luck, Robyn!

Thanks. We are in the very early stages of planning. Since she is going to Dallas there will be no huge party but I still think a night to celebrate with her friends is important. We may just do cake and ice cream along with some fun project for a couple of hours. I am trying to avoid the huge expense a full on party costs (especially since it's right before Christmas)

Hmm. Then you will be very melty by the time you are finished! :rotfl:

I like that word!!

Jennifer I just read your blog. Your days without power remind me of the earthquake that left us without power for a few days. One difference though, we did not have babies to worry about. Sounds like you kept a very level head :thumbsup2

Theresa I hope you find a replacement for Friday!

Robyn good luck with the slumber party planning.

Chanon even though you have already made up your mind, I agree about the white.

Glynis glad to hear Alan's sister & family are ok.

Elizabeth how exciting that you received a code, maybe you can figure out a way to take advantage :teeth:

Tia & Jennifer in case I miss you both, have a wonderful time!

Thanks!!

Fly-by post to say...

Chanon, if you squint and look at our avatar, our pictures were taken around 5:30 p.m. on a pretty warm December day, and we were fine in our turtlenecks and sweater vests. :teeth: (Our pictures were all outdoors at the Poly.)

Happy Birthday Deb! :bday:

Happy Birthday Stephanie! :bday:

Sorry to post and run, but I have a 4-year-old who is boycotting her nap and a 2-month-old who is protesting the bouncy seat. At least the 2-year-old is cooperating...he's fast asleep! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a good day! :wave2:

Okay when I said there wasn't a whole lot of people doing the exchange this year (a couple of weeks ago).....I was fibbing!! We have 17 families involved!!:goodvibes

Wow are we a awesome family or what :goodvibes

My volunteer did not come in this afternoon....I would ask that prayers and PD be headed her family's way. Phyllis came home this morning (after relieving somebody else of their overnight duties so they could be with their dying father) to find that her poor husband had been dealing with their granddaughter who lives with them part time. She had overdosed, whether it was accidental (she is bi polar) or intentional I don't know. All I know is they need all the support she can get.

Oh, they've got our prayers! We have been there with two family members. :wizard: :grouphug:

One thing I did for Katie was a lot of fun. She invited her friends to a Christmas cookie decorating party. I spent a couple of days making sugar cookies, gingerbread men, etc., for the girls to decorate. I bought tubs of premade frosting and sprinkles. On the day of the party, the girls all came to the house where I handed them a blank apron from the craft store. They sat around the table with fabric pens (not paint), and decorated their aprons.

Once they were done, they donned their aprons, and I brought platters of cookies and decorations to the table. I explained how many cookies each girl would get to decorate and take home, and they went to town. While they worked on the table, I made hot chocolate, cider and some popcorn.

When they finished the cookies, I gave them each a sugar ice cream cone, which they turned upside down on a plate and decorated like a Christmas tree. They used m&m's as ornaments, and licorice as tinsel, etc. They turned out really cute!

Once all the decorating was done, they lounged in front of the tv, with hot drinks and popcorn, while watching a Christmas movie.

It was a really fun afternoon/evening. They got to take a large plate of cookies home, plus their aprons, and their parents liked it, too.

That might be a fun idea for you, if you're up to making a bunch of cookies in advance.

What a full plate she has!

Glynis, will you please write me a manual on all of the things I need to remember to do as my girls grow up?! :worship:
