DDA Chapter 12

Thanks for the details. I'll see if I can persuade her to go that route!

I am trying to avoid a situation like I had almost 2 years ago with those 2 sisters and them not getting picked up until 2 in the afternoon. Emma is insistent on inviting the one sister who is in her class, they weren't in the same class last year but they are now and apparently they are glued to the hip. And the mom and I just don't talk like before I had Lucy. She is the mom who showed up last Oct (I hadn't seen/heard from her since school got out) with a gift for Lucy and then complained her mom backed out of watching her girls so her and her DH could go away.

As long as you are clear that the party will be over at such and such a time, and you are not available after that, you should be fine. My kids actually like the late nights better than sleep overs. They get all the fun, jammed into a short time, and there's really no time for arguments and fights.

Bob and I are doing a photo session at the WL...Disney shopping has long sleeved oxfords on sale now in light blue or white. Which one do you think we should get? I've already got polo's - black for him, white for me.
So - blue or white for the WL? At 5:30pm if anyone needs to know the time...

I would have to say white would make better looking pictures.

Ok....who is going to plan a bday trip?!

In 2009, Disney Parks will help guests commemorate special moments in their lives in a what that the whole family remembers together!

Celebration buttons at Disney Parks will enable Cast Members and Guests to join your celebration!

New in-park decor will invite guests at Walt Disney World and Disneyland to "Celebrate Today!"

NEW YORK (Sept. 18, 2008) – Everyone who visits a Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort theme park on their birthday in 2009 can get in free, as Disney Parks embraces a newly identified family travel trend called “celebration vacations.”

In this new national trend, American families are hitting the road to mark life’s special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, reunions and more – with a “celebration vacation.” In 2009, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts will lead this growing trend with new entertainment and services that allow guests to turn their personal milestones into magical Disney experiences.

And to kick it all off – a first-ever opportunity for guests to receive a free ticket to one of the Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks on their birthday in 2009.

“Birthdays are the one occasion that we all share every year,” said Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, at an announcement event today in New York. “We thought a free birthday ticket would be the icing on the cake as we extend this new ‘celebration vacation’ trend to Disney Parks.”

Disney parks provide the perfect setting for this new style of vacation that celebrates the special occasions in life, Rasulo added.

Whether a guest is celebrating a birthday, an anniversary, Quinceañera or any special occasion, Disney parks already are filled with favorite characters, world-class attractions and entertainment, and legendary guest service – exactly the “something for everyone” that trend-watchers say families look for in a “celebration vacation.”

“The special moments in your life become truly magical when you celebrate at a Disney park,” Rasulo said. “Sharing a milestone at Disney connects families, friends and generations.”

Free theme park admission details: To receive free admission to one of the Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks on your birthday in 2009, guests must bring valid ID including proof of birth date. Guests who already hold a valid multi-day ticket they will use on their birthday may choose from other birthday treats instead, however, no cash refunds or credits will be given.

I am well, thanks.

Just looking at the cute new picture of the girls, and thinking the one in (pink?) has a bit of an old soul look.

That's Avery! :goodvibes She might.... she definitely just likes to take everything in. We say she's a bit nosy, but it's pretty cute. She LOVES to interact. Elise on the other hand prefers to MOVE! :cool1: :rotfl:

We did hear from Alan's sister and her family. They are all doing fine. The house next door lost all their trees, but Penny and her family didn't lose anything except their back fence. They are still without power (as of last night), but they are doing ok. They have plenty of food, water and essentials. Thanks for asking.

I'm glad to hear they are doing all right! :goodvibes

I forgot to explain to Jennifer how we can have 6 seasons per year.

Well, first we have Spring, then Summer, sometimes we have a Fummer (not quite Fall, but not entirely Summer, either), next comes Fall, then Finter (not quite Fall, not quite Winter) and then Winter.

It really has to be experienced to be believed!

Hmm.... I wonder if sometimes we experience some of the same. I've never heard it described as such! I'll definitely have to pay more attention to your weather descriptors to see how it compares! :goodvibes

Wow, does he have to be up for those entire 35 hours?

Um.... it just depends. He usually gets between 2 and 4 hours of sleep, but not always. It just depends on admissions, cross-cover pages (caring for patients already in house), the service he's on, etc. That's actually more sleep than he got as an intern though, so he doesn't complain! :goodvibes

This is such a great idea! Good luck, Robyn!

Hmm. We just got the e-mail for free dining on select dates Oct, Nov & Dec. I don't think I can make it work, though. It might require additional research. :rolleyes1

Tammi - OF COURSE next year we will arrive 2 days after my birthday. Not that one, one day pass would be all that useful. It certainly wouldn't offset the cost of going 2 days early.

Hmm.... I wonder what the "other birthday treats" include?!

Thanks Tammi and Jennifer...I figured as much. I really like green/yellow button downs - but they are more expensive at Kohls than at Disney.
Now my next worry is "will a long sleeve oxford in October kill Bob for 1/2 hour??" (and we can wear it on the cruise ship!!!)

Well the first set of names have hit the PM box so let's go over some "rules":lmao:

$5 is the lower limit of the ornament/box
We usually say have the ornament there by Thanksgiving but since we have so many who are going to the World after that I believe I will make the 15th of December the deadline.

I tried really hard to remember who has had whom in the last 2 years and not give the same person but there are some repeats and it can't be helped with the random drawing I do. If for some reason there is a problem with a name please PM me and I will get it fixed pronto!!

If you are mostly inside it shouldn't be too bad.

I just looked at airfare for those free dining dates and that was the nail in the coffin. Ironically the fares for those dates WERE on sale. Round trip on AA was only like $239, taxes & fees included. That has obviously ended. What really is a bummer is that I am off work Oct. 1-5, but DH has his colonoscopy and airfare is like $400. Momboss is in London for almost all of the November dates so I have a lot of extra hours, including at least one overnight when both of my bosses are gone. December airfare is $349 per person and we would all end up missing work/school so I think we'll have to pass. Darn!

Elizabeth - WL photos seem to be taken outside by the lake, bridges and fence...on the pathways between the two resorts...I haven't seen any inside photos...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB

Love this one!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEB

Jennifer I just read your blog. Your days without power remind me of the earthquake that left us without power for a few days. One difference though, we did not have babies to worry about. Sounds like you kept a very level head :thumbsup2

Theresa I hope you find a replacement for Friday!

Robyn good luck with the slumber party planning.

Chanon even though you have already made up your mind, I agree about the white.

Glynis glad to hear Alan's sister & family are ok.

Elizabeth how exciting that you received a code, maybe you can figure out a way to take advantage :teeth:

Tia & Jennifer in case I miss you both, have a wonderful time!
