DDA Chapter 12

They never were going to drive. I booked their air out of PIT. The flights I'm looking at out of DCA are within 1/2 of theirs, each way. So we will arrive and depart aroundabout the same time. Theirs was 370 r/t, ours 250. That was the cheapest I could find for them. Most were over $400. I have no idea why PIT is so expensive.

I figured they weren't planning to drive. I meant you an Bob and the kids. I hope your flights go down in price!

I guess we live far enough south east of DFW that we got significantly different weather from Lindsay and Elizabeth. I have limbs, some big, littering my yard as the trees were really swaying. I'd estimate we got around 5 inches, but I haven't heard the official total yet. We only lost the satellite, not power so we were very lucky!

It's a gorgeous day today -- sunny and fairly clear outside. I'd better run get ready for Church -- just needed to check on our gulf coast DISers and their families.

That is good news, indeed, Marci. I am glad that your damage wasn't any worse.

Kristine - I'm thinking about you and hoping that everything is okay.

I'm really worried about Karen and Kristine. My nephew in Chicago took on water last night. :sad2:

I am worried about them too. Houston does look scarey! And not hearing from Kristine is not a good sign.

I have another Disney friend who lives in the Chicago area and I tried to call them on both cells and their house phone. No answer on any of the phones. I left a message on their home phone, but their cell phones both said something about the number being unable to take calls right then. It was an odd message.

Kristin has 6 friends from college who moved to Chicago this summer to begin their quest for fame on the stage. She texted them last night and has not gotten a response from any one of them. That is also highly unusual.

We are worried about our friends. :grouphug:

How perfect! I am glad that you all had a great evening, Terry. And someone did write the script... YOU! :goodvibes

Thank you Elin,

As I was writing the script, he was two steps ahead of my planning!!!!! :lmao: Thank goodness as he said, he just didn't try to ask why things were a little crazy just for going out to dinner :rotfl:

Terry--glad everything went well last night! sounds like it was a great evening

Terry, what a wonderful surprise for Hal! :goodvibes

I think your response was perfect Robyn. I don't blame you for never bringing it up. Some things don't need to be discussed until the child is curious enough to ask. When I got to the part about adoption I was waiting for the 'and where do babies come from' part to be added. :rotfl: Maybe she'll save that one for next week! ;)

Babies come from CHINA! Weren't you listening? :rotfl2:

Kristine - I'm thinking about you and hoping that everything is okay.

We are thinking about you, too, Kristine! :wizard:

Lindsay, I am so glad to see your families are all okay.:goodvibes

Glad to see Elizabeth and Marci are okay. I hate loking at The Weather Channel. The pictures of Houston are scary.

Good thoughts for your nephew! :wizard:

Marci, sorry you guys got worse weather than we did here. I am glad to hear that it isn't too bad, though!

I have to go do some major grocery shopping today. And laundry. :laundy:

maybe!

Yeah, well at least I can admit it! :rotfl: Oh -- and at least my feelings were justified. Stupid Buckeyes! :headache:

 I had not even thought about that... and I am pretty sure neither of my daughters have thought seriously about it yet, either!

Hmmmm. Although Kathrin's company has sent her and a co-worker to Las Vegas for the week... she texted me three times last night at 1:23 AM our time:

1. We are here. It is almost like Disney!
2. My room is HUGE. I am a PRINCESS.
3. Been here an hour and I am drunk already.

From a motherly point of view this may not be a good thing...

 I'm sorry, that's jut such a great collection of texts! :goodvibes

The football game was great! They won 20-0, and Nicholas played a lot. He's playing wide receive but the hardly ever throw, so he is doing a lot of blocking. He did get a holding penalty called against him. He really got in there and got aggressive, which I was pleasantly surprised about. I'm going to upload my pictures now.

Also, I just bought airline tix for my parents. They are going! Now I just have to get ours.

I'm so glad your parents are going! And hooray for Nicholas' football game! :yay:

I am glad you have no flooding to deal with, Janet. But the gas prices!

We heard a rumor our gas prices will near $5/gal this week.... that had better be rumor! :sad2:

I've done a little sewing...a new German pattern that I got. Thankfully it was translated.... or you might not think so by the looks of it!

...

Leighanna wanted to send a big HEART to all those that could use a little love right now.
Feliz010.jpg

Beautiful! And Leighanna is such a sweetheart! :lovestruc

How cool! I only had time to skim, but how neat would that have been?! And shame on people for making the OP feel so bad about "ruining history". Please!

We are supposed to have a high tomorrow of 99. And a heat index of 110!

Boy am I glad I got the lawn mowed this morning!

Yuck! It's back up to ~90 here, but I guess I can't complain! Mostly, I just wish the humidity would go away. Ick!

I have to tell you that I am beyond exhausted. The dessert party was fabulous although the site of 50+ desserts really makes you rethink how much you really like sweets. I have a story to share with you but it will have to wait for tomorrow. My head is pounding from all this humidity. :headache:

Have a great night.

Um.... yes. It would make me remember how much GREATNESS there is in the dessert field! Yummy! :teeth:

Hi, everyone,

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and PD. The pictures and reports out of Galveston and Houston are astounding, but it could have been so much worse. Our families are safe, as are their homes (relatively).

Thanks for checking in! I'm glad that damage wasn't as bad as it could have been. :wizard: for getting everything back to "normal" as quickly as possible in your respective communities!

It's been a week with lots and lots of discussions!! I'm tired, this mothering stuff is exhausting!:goodvibes

Phew! You sure have had a serious week! :rotfl: I'm gald you are feeling better this morning!

Terry--glad everything went well last night! sounds like it was a great evening

Terry, it does sound wonderful!! :goodvibes

Have a relaxing day, Jen!

Well, I hate to admit it, but I slept until 10 AM. Boy, that felt good. I was exhausted. The rest of the day will be church, laundry, grocery store. Anything that requires me to stay in the air conditioning. Maybe a little cleaning since my parents are coming here Thursday. And of course, the Steelers/Browns game tonight. Are you ready Jennifer?

Ok... you were replying to Blueeyes, but asking about a Steelers game. Were you asking me?! :rotfl: I'm very excited about that game -- it should be a good one! And goodness knows I would like to watch some good football after the Bengals and Buckeyes the past 2 weeks! Ben is clearly better than either Carson Palmer or Troy Boeckman at any given moment these days, which makes me happy! :thumbsup2

Ok.... I definitely didn't have time to get on here, but I couldn't help myself :rotfl: I'm off to throw the girls in the car and rush to get to church (late), then we're going to lunch/dinner at my grandfather's house. His wife is an excellent cook, so I'm looking forward to it! Kyle is on call tonight, so anything to pass the time..

Have a wonderful Sunday, DDA! :goodvibes

So, right now I am off to the Baltimore Airport to take our youngest son. He was coming home from last nights festivities and stopped to have a drink at the other pub where we were going to go to "Dinner" last night. He left his wallet.
Well, he gets home and cannot find it. It was 3:15AM and I was getting really angry. I was tired and had tried to sleep but could not. I tried calling the airline and was told the wait was over half an hour. :headache:
Thank goodness we had not gotten down to Baltimore to discover this.
I am just going to drop him off and let him fend for himself.

The only good thing about this whole thing is that I can stop at our favorite rib place and bring home some really fantastic ribs :cool1:

Talk to ya'll later.

Did they find his wallet? I hope he has his ID with him or he won't be flying anywhere!

Well, I did it. I bought our airfare, flying out of Reagan National on Usairways and back on Airtran. I don't think I'm going to find anything better than 250. Even with the $15 1st bag fee, that comes to 265. Everything else has been over 300. Now watch, it will come down. I suppose I had better stop looking.

Chanon or Elin, any Park&Flys that I should look at? Our flight is at 8:40 on a Sunday morning. The HOVs will be going N/B so that should make it easy. So it shouldn't be a bad drive up. I'm just concerned about parking at Reagan, as that is the Sunday after Tday.

I just found a Disney Gift Card with $25 on it! :yay: Often my students give them to me for Christmas or the end of the year. I plan to use it at the F&W kiosks, along with my Disney Visa Rewards card which has $100 on it!

Anyway... can I add to this gift card? Do I have to do that at a Disney Store? Unfortunately the closest one is now 45 minutes from here. How sad. :sad2:

For that time day on a Sunday I would probably not book a Park 'n' Fly. But there is a website somewhere that does two things: lets you know if the lots are full and offers you parking offsite with shuttles. Let me see if I can find that for you.

Tammi -- The ParkSleepFly website offers offsite parking but doesn't seem to service DCA. Odd... I will keep looking!

Tammi - how many days will you have to pay parking?

Thanks Elin!

Hhmmm....parking will be $140. So I would need a Park-n-Fly for less than that.

Sunday - Saturday. $20 a day.

Well yesterday, I went to lunch with a couple of my friends from college and we are all off for a few days in november...the topic came up about a quick 3 night cruise--we got a great rate for cruises and cannot find good airfare to save my life..any websites that you guys use to find good airfare?

Checking in....

Lindsay I am glad you guys fared OK....and I hope the worst is over for you guys!!

Terry...that was very touching! :)

We are getting the remnants of Ike...not a good thing. We are bracing for the next tidal wave of water.....

I have discovered there is not enough Valium in North America to calm Bill....if he makes it through today...I am not sure he even needs a stress test...this alone would be enough!!!

Here is a link if anyone is interested....the town of Des Plaines is next to us....2 minutes into the story they show my town. I feel exactly like the angry resident of our town!

Thanks for checking in, Kristine. How is your elderly neighbor doing? How much water did you end up taking in? :wizard: that you get minimal rain from Ike.

Thanks Elin!

Economy Parking is up to $20 a DAY?!?!?
