DDA Chapter 11

Ok, I need some post-baby-body advice from women who have been there

I pulled out my fall/winter stuff yesterday, which I wore before and then up until about halfway through my pregnancy. NOTHING fits! It's all the same sizes (or bigger :yay:) than I'm buying now, but you know how it goes.... nothing fits right, whether it's hanging off of me or "the right size".

The numbers on the scale say I'm significantly down from this time last year, before I got pregnant, and yet I just DON'T carry weight well anymore - probably because it's all flab, instead of mostly muscle :rotfl:

I know things absolutely never go back to "normal" (pre-pregnancy), but do they start to get back to something that resembles your previous body type? I especially thought this would be true since I didn't have the whole inflated hip/butt/****s thing during pregnancy (to my chagrin ;)). I still have narrow everything, just lots of extra belly fat, despite having a net loss. Essentially, I'm "fatter" even though I weigh 15 pounds less. Very odd.

I'm thinking it's just a change in muscle tone, which I'm sure can be reversed. Of course, it doesn't seem to be going any direction, even 3 months later...I don't know.

I'm not really looking for any sympathy ;), just confirmation that my thought process is right ... or advice to start over with my wardrobe, if that's what is necessary. :faint:

Thoughts? Maybe I am thankful it's still t-shirt/jeans weather

Unfortunately that baby "fat" is hard to get rid of. I know people that have managed to do it and look fabulous, but it is more work than I care to put in. I also find that I gain much quicker in that area than I did per kids. It seems to be the first to come and last to go. Of course Colby is almost 6 and I haven't had a flat belly since 1995 :rotfl: I'm sure a little exercise would go a long way in my case.

  For all the blues, frustrations and anxieties that we all face.

I was so frustrated when I left work last night that I actually said something to my boss since talking to my coworker is clearly not working. He is lazy, slow and unwilling to help. I was an opener last night, but stayed to help close since there were only 2 on. He one coworker (he also works at Toyota with Chris) has had closing procedures explained to him week after week since the beginning of the year yet he still doesn't get it or even put forth and effort  1/2 hour before we closed I explained in detail what he should be doing at that point to be ready to close and he did NOTHING. Then we carried all the salad bar stuff in and again he did NOTHING except talk to the one party he had left. Then he had the audacity to say that he has no reason to hurry to get home to his wife and kid so why rush :scared1: Herein lies the problem. We work as a team and the work must be all done before any of the closers can leave. So we do our own jobs then his so that we can go home. I told my boss that I'm not carrying is a$$ anymore, I'm just leaving.

Today my notebook computer came back. I was so excited so I opened the box and sat down to try it out. There is a new keyboard (no more broken D key) and a new cord and apparently the internal part was replaced too :woohoo: So I turn it on and it needs to update...okay. It starts downloading an XP fix or something and I attempt to log into my email. It shut down  That was the third thing they were supposed to fix. So call HP again and they confirmed that there are no notes of them even checking for shut down issues even though it was on the repair order. Another shipping label is on its way to me so that I can send it out again

I just made it to pick up Colby at school and we ended up heading to the plaza to pick up supplies for Mr. Potato Head. No luck finding white gloves though. I may need to hit the tuxedo store since I only have a couple of days left. I did find some great buys at Kmart on summer clothes for the boys for next year. I also found size 16 Hanes underwear for $.90 for a 7 pack. Nick is all set anyway, but I bought a bunch anyway :confused3 I guess the other boys will grow into them eventually :lmao:

I don't know how I did it, but I fell asleep in the recliner. I got up at 6:45 this morning and cleaned up, got dressed and came into work. Right now I am running on steam. It is dark outside and raining to beat the band. Thunder and lightning too.

Yes I am hoping today goes better because I cannot take many more of these days.

:wizard: Hope today was better!

I'm sure that's so hard! All of those (legitimate!) feelings, on top of the mere fact that your mother is sick. I'm so sorry you have all of this on your plate right now to work through, and without much (any?) extended family support!

Thanks, Jennifer. :)

:wizard: for a better showing next month, for your dad and for your MIL.

Debbie, I am glad to hear the baby is progressing well! :goodvibes

I could never get her or John to agree to WDW in Aug.

Hmm. Then I guess you will have to come to WDW without them! ;)

I thought that sounded really fun...

although Jackie still hasn't forgiven me for making her go on the pirate cruise..."it was the worst day of her life" :rotfl:

But like Tammi said, that picture was SO HILARIOUS! :rotfl2:

I always figured you were also a little (teensy weensy) bit dark and twisty like me.

The darker and twistier the better.

I can tell you that my pre baby days my tummy area was much different than it is now. It was and probably always will be flabby but it has shifted upwards. I weigh less than I did before I got pregnant with Emma but nothing from then has ever fit right again. Though I haven't honestly worked to make it any better.

I am a different shape than I was before I had DS. I am also fatter now than before I got pregnant with him, but that's neither here nor there. I have that overhang of belly flab that will never go away. On the other hand, I haven't done anything to make it go away.

Elizabeth- I just got an email from Joe. He said he would love to meet you. And he also informed me that Emma and I will be on our own Saturday night, that is if I don't mind. He got invited to an event from one of his clients and can't seem to get out of it.

Emma found out about the trip this morning. She was looking through my date book and found it on the calendar. Needless to say, she is beyond excited!!!

Fabulous! What do you guys want to do on Saturday night? :dance3:

Marci,
Sorry about your funk....I have had days like that too (heck weeks like that!:lmao: ) Hope things calm down for you soon.:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Marci, sorry you are in a funk! Do you have some lovely brooding music? I have been listening to The Smiths today while I brood. I think Princess kind of digs The Smiths. Brooding music doesn't make you brood less, it just makes you brood better. ;) I am cranky for all kinds of reasons, it isn't going to get better, so I think I will wallow in it for awhile.
I hate that Andrew is having homework issues. :guilty: We have those days.

Merrie (the lady whose company I run) just walked in to my office saying, "I can't live this way Marci." And I'm sure I gave her this startled look like she had just read my mind. She was talking about the screw-up the new admin made to her travel, and since the other admin is out sick I best get to it. Lunch over!

OK, can I just say how bizarre I find that statement? With all of the things she has been through in her life, the thing that is going to push Merrie over the edge is her TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS? Think about that for a minute, and you will burst out laughing. I did, anyway.

Are your hands overly dry, Jennifer? I find I have the drop-sies when my hands need to be moisturized a LOT!

When Aurora was a kitten she bit through a can of Pepsi and it sprayed all over the kitchen. In the car I managed to bump my hand on the console and a 20 oz. white chocolate mocha flew all over the place. I was FURIOUS. Not only did I nearly ruin the car interior, but I had no coffee! DH & I were on the way to an appointment when it happened, he told me a time we were supposed to be there, then he said no, it was 30 minutes EARLIER, we were running late and he was all snarky. Not a good day for us. Luckily we traded that car shortly after that little accident. I had another car that a glass bottle of Snapple broke in the trunk. Not good.

Speaking of things exploding and going EVERYWHERE...
Dadboss walked into the sliding glass door between the playroom and the kitchen last night. Princess closed it, and he walked straight into the glass. It shattered, and pretty much covered every inch of the playroom in microscopic shards of glass. :scared1: He has a cut on his forearm, but other than that he is OK. They cleaned and cleaned last night and there was still glass everywhere this morning. I helped him roll up the rug because there was glass embedded in it. Princess sits on that rug all the time, walks across it on her knees, there was just no way to make it safe for her. Luckily Momboss already bought a NEW rug because she was going to get rid of the old one. I went over the playroom floor with the Dyson, then I went over it again with a broom. I thought the floor was pretty clean, but then Princess picked up a chunk of glass and handed it to me! I told her NOT to pick up anymore pieces, just show them to me.
DS has walked into that door before, so I am thankful it didn't break when he ran into it. I am also thankful Dadboss wasn't severely injured, and that Princess wasn't injured by flying glass!

We did go to the zoo for a couple of hours this morning before the rain drove us away. DH is off today, so he came along. The zoo is having a photo contest, so maybe he will enter. He took some pics but I haven't looked at any of them yet.

:wizard: Hope today was better!

Thanks, Jennifer. :)

Vodka...Gin...Rum there are lots of choices :rotfl: :rotfl:

I still have Ginger ale all over my car from when I had two or three cans freeze and explode in my car a few years ago. No matter how much I try to clean it out, I still find splatters all over.

Friday I had cocoa powder spill all over the shelves of the pantry onto the floor and all over. While cleaning it up I also managed to dump macaroni all over the floor and pantry. I eventually got it cleaned up.

I am glad to hear Dadboss is OK. My co-workers husband slipped on iced tea and his hand went through the sliding glass door a few weeks ago. He ended up with over 100 stitches in his hand. It is better but still not 100%.

Three great things happened today! We've booked our horseback riding for Nassau, got our marriage license, and Bob said we have 2 more boxes at the house for my virtual shower! WHO HOO!

Yes, you can get basically back to the same shape after you build the muscle tone again. After Katrina, it took me about 3 months (I was VERY active). After Becky, it took me about 5 years. I had a sit-down job or school for the first 5 years then I got a job where I was on my feet for quite a bit of time.

Good news- I no longer have a fracture in my foot. The part that was fractured is still much narrower then the rest of the bone. So I have to wear the walking boot for 2 more weeks. Then I can start wearing shoes. I have to go back again on October 21st to make sure everything is still good. The doctor seemed surprised and impressed that it was healing on its own.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!:goodvibes

Don't you know the rule about trading in the car after you spill something in it? :confused3

Are your hands overly dry, Jennifer? I find I have the drop-sies when my hands need to be moisturized a LOT!

Not really...? :confused3 Just bad luck, I think! :rotfl:

Yep! For some reason I hear that the monorail get's busy on parade day. :confused3 I think if we went in the evening we'd be fine...I'm definately not going during parade time! What do we have planned this day?

Jennifer - It's time to buy water. :teeth:

vodka doesn't stain either

I'm glad dadboss is ok.... but what a mess!

Good luck to your DH in the photo contest! How nice that he got to go with you guys! :goodvibes

Vicki is my new favorite DDAer! :yay:  :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I was a bit encouraged by people who said they didn't try at least, hoping that was the "problem" and not that it was something I can't do ANYTHING about! I'm frustrated that it's been 3 months already, but with the muscle separation I didn't get clearance to really work out until about a month ago. That doesn't sound so bad. So, I guess I'll put my nose to the grindstone and see what happens! :confused3

I knew there was a reason not to wash the glass on the slider :rotfl: :rotfl:

It's a weird door to begin with. The playroom was an addition, and they (the previous owners) just left the door the way it was. I have always been worried that Princess will smash her fingers in the door, though she leaves it alone the VAST majority of the time. Dadboss said he SAW her close it, but we are all so used to it being open he wasn't thinking.

Becky - Yikes for your co-worker's DH! I hope it heals 100% soon! :wizard:

Jennifer - I have been on Depo Provera injections since DS was about 11 mos. old, so I like to pretend that has something to do with why I never lose any weight. :rolleyes1 When I had my first injection the nurse said she had seen women gain 5 pounds, and she had seen women gain 50! I am pleased to report that even after 12 years I still have not gained a cumulative 50 pounds! (More like 15.)

Since I posted it on the cruise thread. Here is a picture of my brother and I before boarding the ship.

Thanks ladies! What is ticking me off is that I have no reason to feel sorry for myself or be blue. For some reason, just telling myself to get over it hasn't worked. :confused3 Venting does help, so thanks for listening...or not -- I do tend to go on....

Merrie (the lady whose company I run) just walked in to my office saying, "I can't live this way Marci." And I'm sure I gave her this startled look like she had just read my mind. She was talking about the screw-up the new admin made to her travel, and since the other admin is out sick I best get to it. Lunch over!

That's what we are here for, to listen.

Hello, DDA!

I am sorry that I dropped off the face of the boards for a while. It's been a little crazy getting the preschool up and running. Yesterday was the orientation, and today was the first day of class for the 3 year olds. We have a small class this year, and so far only two criers. The one little boy cried and screamed for close to 20 minutes and then a switch just flipped, and he was fine and charming the rest of the day. The other little boy had his mother stay for the first 30 minutes and then cried when she left. He was easier to console, though, and didn't cry for that long. He did start up again when Mom came back to pick him up, though. Then there is another little girl whose mother stayed and stayed and stayed, but she had absolutely no problem with mom leaving and she was actually much better behaved for us than Mom.

The days do fly by!! Yay for a good 2 days of eating!!

Thanks everyone for your input, although I must admit it wasn't what I wanted to hear! :rotfl:

No, really? :rolleyes1 :rotfl: :goodvibes

So I think I failed to tell you all about the "soda incident" last week....

I was putting cans of soda into the refrigerator and dropped one (overly ambitious, I suppose ). Well it must have got banged up just right on the way down, because when it hit the floor it EXPLODED all over the kitchen. I have a fairly large kitchen, and it was wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling.... from the garage/bathroom/entry, to the back of the house, to the family room. Under the island overhand, on the bottom sides of all the furniture (stools, chairs, breakfast table, etc), and of course all over the tops. All over the inside and outside of the fridge, on the windows and doors, all over the walls.

It was ridiculous.

And today, it happened in my car. I elbowed a 44-ounce (?) cup of Diet Coke (the ginormous cups from Sams), which flew into the backseat. The lid was mostly off, and coke was going EVERYWHERE, so I quickly grabbed it to put it back 'together' and saw that the straw had punched through the bottom of the foam cup. In order to pick it up and throw it out my door (quite literally), I had to effectively fling more soda ALL OVER the inside of my car, including on the girls' heads. No joke.

Then, when pumping gas not 1 minute after cleaning up this mess (to the best of my ability, with just burp clothes and blankets to use!), I pulled the nozzle out and before I had even attempted to start, it drizzled all over me.

Today, I'm most thankful that some days we are in unexplainable GOOD moods, no? Otherwise, I might have jumped off a cliff. :rotfl:

Yikes, that is one big mess x 2. It seems that when things like that happen they always happen back to back to me too. I am glad you could keep your sense of humor!

I was so frustrated when I left work last night that I actually said something to my boss since talking to my coworker is clearly not working. He is lazy, slow and unwilling to help. I also found size 16 Hanes underwear for $.90 for a 7 pack. Nick is all set anyway, but I bought a bunch anyway :confused3 I guess the other boys will grow into them eventually :lmao:

How frustrating on both counts. I'm sorry the laptop isn't fixed properly. What did your boss say in response to you.

Fabulous! What do you guys want to do on Saturday night? :dance3:

I think we should throw a huge fabulous party at Joe's!!! ;)

So glad that Princess wasn't hurt and Dadboss escaped with only minor injuries.

vodka doesn't stain either

:rotfl2:

Did you go to the doctor's?

Nevermind, I see your fantastic update!!!

Robyn - Great! Fabulous party at Joe's house! :dance3: If you think of something else you would like to do, let me know! :rotfl2: I am HOPELESS at driving downtown, otherwise I can probably get us from Point A to Point B without too much drama!

I was going to disappear for a few hours and then come back and post. But I figured that was just plain RUDE.:rotfl2:  ;)

Well considering you live there and I have only been to the JFK museum, the Round Up, some Mexican restaurant and Lucky's, I'm sure it leaves many choices. Really anything would be just great!! We're pretty easy going.

I need to scoot. It's back to school night at Em's school and the book fair. I'll be back later.
